- Upgrading to the Xbox One S means having to deal with transferring files from your current Xbox One. The best way to do this is with external HDD. You can backup your games, media, and apps. I've provided some link below on where you can grab the drives I was using and some recommended ones.

Thank you. Great video! 👍
Great video 😊,thinking of replacing Xbox one to get xXbox one S.Just wasn't sure if external hard drives worked on it
I tried this and when I plugged in the external to the S and tried to play a game, it took me straight to the game page in the store and then gave me an option to "play" it but wouldn't load the game up.
This is all I'm going to say
7 YEARS GOLD?
707 rip
could you use an Ethernet cable like you could on ps3?
I moved all my DLCs to the external harddrive and when I hook it up to my Xbox one s my DLCs did not show up. why?
Thank you very helpful
I'm not seeing this move option at all... Even though I have an external drive attached... is there some kind of tweak needed to make it work? Its formatted for "games and apps", and is USB3 and 500Gb (Samsung Evo 850 SSD - 500gb)
if you take an external hard drive configured to your old xbox one and connect it to an xbox s will it A: work as external storage and B: allow you to run content installed on it (games etc) ?.
omg you saved my life!!
Hey I currently save and install all my games onto my external hard drive, so if I were to upgrade to the S, I could just simply plug in my hard drive to the S and everything will be there? Or is it going to make me format it and possibly deleting everything in it if I do that?
Hey I have question
How do I transfer all my gaming data and everyone else I have one account onto a different account
Have you figured this out yet? If so pls tell
Jonah Allen you can’t
Thanks for the info man, One question can I use my external drive games on my friends Xbox to play my games???
To play the game at someone's else's house you'll need to have physical disc or have downloaded the game digitally and be signed into the account that brought it
+Amb3r Nz Ok got it, Thanks very much.
Amb3r Nz will it keep your data from the other xbox?
Can you move games that you've installed from the disc? Also, can you move Xbox 360 games that's installed on the Xbox One as well? Also, while moving apps/games around, can you use an app or play a game while moving apps/games around or do you have to leave everything alone?
What about games that were installed via a disc? Can I transfer those installed games to an external HDD or do I have to re-install them from the disc?
If I put my account on a Xbox one s and data will it ruin the data and the first one because I share a Xbox one with my brother and I’m getting a Xbox one s in like a week or two and I don’t want to ruin the data on the old one but me and my bro have our one separate account.
I GOT YOU! 💙
so in short, if i get my games moved to a hard drive ( but its not a very well know brand ) and plug it in my new console i should play normally as i would on my old console after signing in and everything?
I own all of my games in disc format and recently bought a Xbox One S. Do I need to get an external hard drive to get all of my game's data out of my old Xbox or can I just install the games on my new One S and have all the saved data there already?
Hey , I have the old Xbox One & want to get the new Xbox One S ... I have all my games & saves on my 2T external hardrive.
If i buy the new xbox one s & just plug in the external hardrive will it work or will it format it & lose all games & saves.
If i use an external hard drive with my Xbox One with all the games installed on it today so it is more or less connecting to Xbox One S and start playing? needed no formatting?
What did you say about losing data, I couldn't understand you were talking to fast.
Not being mean, I’m giving you advice , you can make the playback speed slower
@@jmartinez2005 not being mean, im just asking a question, why didnt you just type what he said instead?
Jay Sosaaa good point 😂

Voted up purely because you are a fellow Goat simulator player.
I'm trying to do this with a 360 game Xbox one. Where yours says "storage" to pick internal or external mine gives me the option "360 or Xbox one games" it's not at all what yours says
Getting halo 5 console thanks!
There's no MOVE ALL DATA option? Like move everything at once instead selecting one app and moving all of that
Doing this will keep the data and saves on your games right? would hate to have to restart D2

@@starwarscronus make sure that cloud saving is enabled on your previous xbox which you used to play the witcher on. To do so check the following settings: How Do I Enable Cloud Saves On My XBox One
From the Xbox Dashboard, go to settings, and then select System.
Select Storage, and then select Cloud Saved Games.
Select Enable Cloud Saved Games.
After enabling this setting, boot up the witcher on your previous xbox and save the game so that it will sync with the cloud. After that boot the game up on your nex xbox

Gav Callaghan you can just plug it it too the new console
I'm switching also. Was wondering if I go to plug in my hard drive into the new Xbox S, will it have to reformat again?
I did that but it won't let me play it keeps saying did you buy this game or app
So when Xbox One X comes out can I transfer saves to that?
does this work if I'm tranfering data from 1 xbox one s to another
So I've got a XB1 now with an external drive. Nearly everything was digital DL. Most, if not all is installed to the external drive already. Can I just plug that drive into the new XB1S, log in with my profile and NOT have to re-download all the base games again?
+klutch14u yes you can just continue to play from the hard drive if you want.
Think my question may have not been clear. Can I simply unplug the drive from my existing XB1 (with the games already installed to it) and plug it into the XB1S and have it recognize the game is already there without having to redownload 100's of gigs data again from the internet
Will it make you lose all your game progress having to restart?
how to transfer game data from xbox one s to xbox one s cant i use a USB instead of a hard drive?
Do you need to do that you can’t just sign in?
Do you need to do formatting?

I can’t access my Xbox one because the hdmi port is broke so I’m buying a one s. How can I transfer my games to the S if I can’t see my screen on my Xbox one?
I guess it wouldn't really matter to move BluRay player over since the One S uses the 4k BluRay and it's already on the console.
What's the difference between SSD & HDD
