Sorry for your loss. My Dad passed in 2014 and I have wonderful memories of card collecting, card shows and card shops. Every time I open my old binders it brings a smile to my face. Awesome memories.
Sorry to hear about your mom she sounds like a great person. So many of us from the 90s are back into cards. This really is a crazy time. My first job at 14 was also at a very large sports card store here in the Atlanta area. Used to ride my bike there and back 5 days a week during the summer. Now my parents would be arrested for that :)
kichamp Thank you.

Oh what I would do to turn the clock back to the 90s! Feel sorry for all these young lost bucks who think the world is all about social media.
At age 14 you wouldn’t be allowed to ride a bike in Atlanta???
Having lost my mom in 2005 i would love to celebrate my mom. She didn't really understand my passion of collecting but she never threw out my cards! So many of those cards in there were like going back in time! I still have some of the cards from my childhood but i am missing my sets i put together my self with my dads help from the 80's
Terrific episode Geoff. Very sorry for your loss, your mother sounds like a truly amazing person and obviously played a huge part in shaping your passions.
Happy mothers day to your mom up above. She sounds like an amazing women
PackfreshCards Thank you.
I’m very sorry to hear about your mom she sounds like a great person
So sorry to hear about your mother. Cancer is freaking awful and impacts so many people. She may not have seen what you've built while she was still here on Earth but best believe she still sees it now! Love the story about your one day working at the card store!
I see you TM Ncott! 👀
Hiiiiii I love your videossssss
Moms are Amazing
I enjoyed the special story about your Mom. My sincerest condolences. I truly believe she’s watching over you and did a wonderful job molding you in to the man that you are. Keep up the good work.
Sorry for the loss of your mom Geoff. I lost my mom last year as well. Stay strong and thank you for doing what you do in the hobby and with your videos. 👏👏👏
Sorry to hear about your Mum it was great to hear some of your fond memories. I loved the football stars cards, saw Peter Shilton there. He was a very famous England Goalkeeper and you may recognise as the Goalkeeper that Maradona scored his “Hand Of God” goal against! Has played more England international games than any other of our players!
So sorry for your loss! Great memories, my mother was the first to buy me cards when I was four and took me to ball games to see my idol Clemente.
I can't tell you how much that video speaks to me. I grew up in that same generation of card collecting and because of COVID-19, I pulled out my old collection and have been full throttle since. Don't tell my wife, but the same LCS I went to at 12, I've been spending money at again. Cheers and I'm sorry for the loss of your mother.
Sorry for your loss! I lost both my parents in the past 3 years. They were both only 58 years old. My childhood collection was placed in a storage unit which I didn't learn about until it was too late and had been auctioned off, but thank you for the his episode, along with the father's day episode. It was nice to see all of your old cards. I had so many of the same, as I'm sure most of the viewers in their late 30's - 40's had.
Lost my dad last year to brain cancer too. Brought tears to my eyes hearing those words.
Rick Jones Sorry to hear that. Such a tough thing.
@@SportsCardInvestor TY!
Thanks Geoff for sharing stories about your mother 🙏 and PC collection as a child.
Looks like you and I grew up collecting around the same time, 86/87 were the first baseball cards I bought, and I also bought an absolute TON of 91 Donruss. Great memories, thanks very much for sharing them with us!
You know, it's actually enjoyable to watch someone present cards that aren't all PSA 9s or 10s or modern day chase cards. You and I probably started collecting around the same time (1987 for me) and I still have every card I have ever purchased. Two that I remember purchasing vividly with my mother are a 1962 Topps Hank Aaron (beat to hell) and a "mint" 1988 Topps Tiffany Roberto Alomar from a place called The Sports Gallery right before it went under. Good stuff man. I really enjoyed this video.
Hi Jeff, I love this video and the memories of your childhood with your mother by your side. I am 58 and started collecting and flipping a few years ago. I was a "cardhound" in the early to mid 70's. I believe the sidearm pitcher you were referring to in the video was Kent Tekulve who played for the Pirates. Take care my friend.
Your mom sounds like she was an incredible woman. I find that one of the most satisfying aspects of collecting is the memories it evokes when going over particular cards from the past.
Nice video. Enjoyed the memorial about your mom and how she was a major driver in your sports card passion. Sweet childhood collection too.
HOLD THOSE GREAT MEMORIES TO HEART. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOU AMAZING STORY. BIG THUMBS UP FOR MOM! 🥰
First Catch! Thank you.
Your mother was one of the special people ,it’s no different from a once in a generation talent ,she did a phenomenal job raising you and you can see it trickling down to your son’s.You were very blessed to have had her.
I can guarantee your mother is looking down and laughing at how things come back around. Amazing woman who gave you something to strive for. Awesome trip down memory lane.
A great parent results in a well rounded man or woman . Enjoyed this one .
Thanks for another great video Geoff. Really enjoyed these stories you shared. I can especially relate to the parts about your mom being an active advocate of your passion for the hobby. Same experience here. She used to take me to card shows and card shops and pick up packs to open. She actually encouraged me to get back into the hobby just this past December, and has helped to dig through my collection from the 80's and early 90's and is actively sending me some periodically. Same here I hadn't seen them in 30 years! Crazy to relive childhood and all of that excitement and passion for the hobby all again, now sharing it with my 9 yr old son.
Those toploaders survived decades. Great episode. made my morning. Your mother was a special lady. happy mothers day.
You relit the fire for me brother. We're the same age all these cards are memories for me as well thanks. I pulled out my collection and I scored big like your obsession with Juan Rodriguez I was obsessed with Griffy Jr. and I didn't touch these cards so I got every Griffy Jr card from 89 to 94ish. And I mean everything from Pepsi,to mother cookies, and post cereal. I kept my shaq cards same way. Wish me luck thanks.
So sorry to hear about your Mom bro. I sure she has a lot to do with all your success!! Happy Mother’s Day! Keep her memory alive forever bud!
Sorry to hear about your mom. I lost my mom to cancer 5 years ago. I have many of the same "mom" stories with my cards. My mom carefully moved my cards for decades. Great work with this!
Sorry to hear about your Mom! My first job at 13 worked at sports card store too. Made 3 dollars an hour. Good stuff!
There needs to be more appreciation for this era. The athletes, the revolution in the look of sports cards themselves, integrating technology into cards and creating a market that we all love more than ever today, (even during the dip)
I stand by the fact that junk wax isn’t junk.
One of my favorite episodes you have made. You honored your beloved mom well.
My deepest condolences Jeff... Sorry for your loss... Remember that the sorrow comes from all the good memories. Those will last forever.
Tough story about the day on the job. Mistakes happen. Don't be hard on yourself. My experience of you is that if this happened to you and you were the owner, you would be more empathetic and understanding. The flip side is that it didn't sap your enthusiasm for sports cards. Look at the impact your making on the industry now man!
I actually have a very similar collection back in the day as well as you have. Most of mine were kept in card protectors once they first appeared and when I pulled mine recently alot of mine turned out to be still in decent condition since I still have all the old cards from the mid 90s and been in card boxes for over 20 yrs
Happy Mother’s Day man. Was enjoyable to hear about your memories with your mom around sports cards.
Thanks for all that you do, you”re a heck of a guy man. You’ve been very positive in all of your videos with good spirited enthusiasm. I’ve been watching your videos since you started last yr. and can’t believe how positive you’ve been on camera, despite what yo were going through that yr.
Lol... I relate to do many aspects of your collecting as a child. Probably similar to everyone around 40 years old. I had a huge Juan Gonzalez collection. I loved the look of having the 90 Donruss Rated Rookie side by side with the reverse negative in a binder. Looked like a mirror image. I'm from North Florida where card shops were very limited back then but I had cousins and Sarasota and when we'd go visit during the summer, we'd hit up all the card shops. I remember getting my first Beckett down there along with a lot of binders and collecting supplies to go with all my cards. Those memories are so vivid. Thanks for sharing.
sorry for your loss jeff . i lost my mom too since 2012. I miss her alot
Oh man I had soooooooooo many of these cards. Wow. The nostalgia is strong with this one! Thanks, man!
Thanks for sharing the story. Proud son from a wonderful mother. the memories keep your love one like the where never gone. Great video.
Cool Mom tribute and walk down memory lane. Thanks Bro
Sorry for your loss, my brother passed away two years ago and the pain still with me but memories of collecting make me smile. Thanks for the video and sorry for your loss. I wish you the best for you and your family.
I’m sorry for your loss on your mother. Happy Mother’s Day and she still knows that you are a great person for this card community and put a lot of work in to help a lot of people!! Thanks for this great video!.

Im truly sry for your loss it sounds like she was an amazing woman/mom ..Thank you for your show and god bless!!🤝
I was going through old cards when watching this video. About 5 minutes after you questioned about the Cardinals pitcher came across a Dan Quisenerry, so weird.
SHE RAISED YOU WITH GREAT MORALS
Happy Mother’s Day! Great story about your first and only day at the sports card store!
Thanks for sharing. Takes me down memory lane.
That's a funny yet also amazing story... because, well, look how successful you've become due to your passion for sports memorabilia, especially for sports cards =)

Great video! Thank you for sharing the stories about your mom and the card shop!!
Great video! Thanks for being real and vulnerable about your mom, Geoff! You are the real deal man.
super sweet video. Nice to get some extra context for your back story, am a 'soccer' collector which you don't necessary cover a lot but wanted to thank you for your channel as there have been lots of very useful nuggets of information over the last few months that cross over between sports. Great to see your growth, is well deserved, keep it up.
Helloooooooooooo back Shout out to your mom. Thank you for sharing a bit of her story. Very cool.
Thanks for sharing Jeff. Sounds like your mom was an awesome woman. I would be lying if I knew what it was like to have a great mom. My mother selfishly took her life in 2014. So Mother’s Day is just another normal day for me
Thank you for the trip down the memory lane, always great to see those old cards again! Keep up with the great content!
Thanks for sharing Jeff. Cheers to you, your family, and the crew. Stay strong!
Sorry for the loss of your mother..ur a good dude with awsome good videos bro..i grew up in west palm...keep doing good with your strong positivity..
Great video, trip down memory lane. Juan's lack of attention due to steroid use, I received the green 87 classic set in that board game.bThe Jeff George is a 1990 action packed, the Pacific is 1991, they were an extremely rare pull though his rookie was 1989. Jerome Walton and Dwight Smith, one year after Mark Grace. Ricky Nattiel was one of the three amigos!
Sir, you’re Mom would be immensely proud. 👍🇺🇸
Do more hockey investing please
Bringing Sports Card collecting full circle - thanks for sharing such intimate memories of your mom. You are blessed to have an amazing family. I loaded up on Shaq and Pedro... and just found them recently too.

I still have boxes like that at her house in the article and 2 closets full of stuff, mostly Commons there, tho.

Very nice video. I also have my trove of cards in boxes and binders in my childhood bedroom. Intending to make a video of them. My mom drove me to card stores too, in the mid 80s. She passed away earlier this year. I know how you feel. Also, that store owner should not have left you alone in there...

What a very special video. Thanks for sharing your story about your Mom and about your single day working in a card shop. Is that card shop still open? How long did you collect after that incident. But again, very cool video, sort of like hanging out with a buddy and sifting through their collection.
I hear you on the Juan Gonzalez thing. That was my favorite player as a kid and I had lots of his rookies in 1990
I've got a couple of the BO card and a unopened box of 1990 score box it sounds like your mom was such a great lady

Matthew Boozan Thank you! Yes, I loved Sarasota. Pine View grad.
Love the emotions
Great episode HMD to all great moms with us and the ones that have passed, I remember as a kid when living in Tampa I went to a Willie Mays signing and buying a 87 donruss pack and pulling the Canseco rated rookie , everyone went nuts .
86 Donruss
My first job was at the LCS too, but I was working there way before I was "legally" allowed to work, lol.... No, once I was old enough I just started to get paid... I worked at the LCS between the age(s) of 12-18 ... I was doing card shows (with help from my mother) - since I was 10 and I put on (conducted) my first card show at the age of 12, I was considered a "big boy dealer" at 13 - I was considered a legitimate dealer at 13 - if I didn't have a card I would get it for yo.... Look, it was fun until I was 18, started having girlfriends,, cars and "adult things" and I moved away from the hobby until 2015 when I was 35 - and I have been infatuated ever since - I flip cards for a living and couldn't be happier ... Look, I got back in because I bought a pack of cards for nostalgia reasons and pulled an Auston Matthews Young Gun in that pack, looked it up on eBay like 2 weeks later and realized it was worth about $250 bucks - and that was kinda my startup capital and here I am making a living flipping cards... But flipping cards is and always will be "my calling" - it comes just so natural .... It takes passion in this business, it really does - there is not one dealer out there that hates cards but sells them- sure you can get bored at times, you can get tired and need a break but cards are always in your heart - or part of your identity... I know many wouldn't be able to understand that but the true collectors out there absolutely do... And I would like to say my Mother understood this and she did the best job she could aiding my card addiction and my involvement in the hobby, lol and although I'm a bit late and mothers day was several weeks ago I would like to tell my Mother that I love her and I'm grateful for the opportunities she has given me to work with cards and in this hobby and make a living doing it......
This was an incredible episode! I'm sorry about your mom, she must be so proud of you. Awesome collection and I look forward to keep enjoying your content. Happy Mother's Day!
