I did an experiment with PSA - I purchased a GM 10 2018 Topps Update Acuna Jr off of EBAY 1.5 yrs ago, the case was cracked when it arrived. The seller offered a refund but I was nice about it and said I refund me the cost to get a new slab. (Lesson learned here shortly, just send it back). After 6 months, I get it back and it is re-graded a 5? Nothing wrong with the card and PSA couldn't tell me why? So I broke the slab a month ago, sent it back in with my other cards, comes back an 8? I have a call in to them now and sent them pics of me breaking the case, to have them explain what is going on? How can a card have 3 grades and all very much different?

    • @BigDirtDawg

Mislabels happen so often with group subs unfortunately because they’re not checking the orders to report any errors. Submitting on your own, you’re must more likely to flag these errors and can report them quickly. I’ve been able to flag these a few times on my own thanks to knowing my orders well.
As far as your Love card goes, I was recently told the checklist has to be easily accessible to them, so sometimes those national sets don’t have complete checklists anywhere posted.

When I got out graded cards were only a few years old and now I wouldn't purchase a vintage card or any autograph without a PSA stamp of approval. SO here are my questions and concerns hopefully you can help me with... PSA's revenue is dependent on values of items, have there been issues with cards getting higher grades or authentic autos being deemed fake and vise versa in order to keep POPs at certain stats to keep values where they want them?

Went over them with fine tooth comb and magnifying glass. Been sending since 2005 and not sure how they can mess up that bad? Not to mention they damaged one of my cards (Shaq RC), that was a 10 GEM. Got a call from them directly , accidentally messed it up in the slabbing process. It's now a 4. Was insured but didn't insure it for 10 value. 🥴😅 PSA needs to have some level of consistency. The ones that dont get the minimum requirements 9? 8? ... id say u still gta pay to have em prescreened which could add up quick if its a big order .so id only send in the ones i was quite certain would get 10's . That way there'd be minimal cards sent back that i still have to pay prescreening on.??

Tell me if I'm paranoid, please. The choice of sending in your cards directly to PSA for grading (with the assistence of CZcams videos to help you prepare that submission and cards correctly), versus my (unfounded?) fear of having those cards --- go to pre-PSA Prep-service where, if a card is handled by them and damaged or is identified and being a PSA 10 (and then swapped out at that facility by a nepharious employee for another card but of lower quality). I have seen CZcams videos of folks saying that they didn't think a crease or a corner ding was there when it was sent in. All in all, even if you take careful photos of your cards, it is almost impossible to guarantee something happens at the Prep-service or even at PSA grading time. Am I being too paranoid, or do you folks sometimes think, "This card looked perfect when I sent it and I looked at it very carefully, but now it's graded as a PSA 6 because of this suspicious crease," for example. Thanks much. Great videos.

I would imagine that grading base cards for the purpose of flipping them, for the most part, will reduce due to the increased pricing. No? Because not many of these would currently be worth grading. I mainly use PSA/SGC for purposes of protecting higher end or personal favorite cards. I dunno about changing grading scales...I could easily go through my new cards and pick out a batch like this and get mainly 10s. So statements like that just stir drama...😂

Unlike human grading companies like Beckett and ISA, AGS uses a robot that grades your robot without bias. Wow there is a lot of inconsistency with PSA grading cards here. Some of them were off center but they still got a GM 10 grade. I think this is part of the problems with human grading. Humans just can have certain biases sometimes. There is a new start-up called Automated Grading Systems and, as the name implies, they grade cards through AI and computers. It makes grading much more consistent and accurate since an unbiased AI goes through the cards to give them a correct grade.

KZ Okpala was never released by the Heat. KZ was injured and out for the rest of the season. He was traded to the Thunder for a 2nd round pick at the trade deadline to open a roster spot for Caleb Martin. Signed Caleb Martin from a 2 way contract to a normal contract. This way he can play in the playoffs. The Thunder released KZ because he was at the end of his contract and injured for the rest of the season. He will be signed by another team this summer, he's only 22 years old and 2 years of experience. He's a defense specialist though and they don't do well in the trading card market.

No it's called PSA is a horse shit scam of a grading service. These bulk orders especially are heavily skewed and favored over direct submissions. PSA cares more about their status as being the #1 demanded company so they hand out 10s like it's nothing. Guarantees if you send them to ANY other service it will grade lower. The more we can branch away from psa and their scammy business the better ALL OUR cards will be regardless if its BGS, SGC, GMA, etc.
Side note - I'm a big supporter of the work GMA is doing lately. They don't just hand out 10s like a lot of people claim and their turnaround time is insanely quick and great prices. SGC remains my top choice still though.
