Mini in the hammock was hilarious!!! I'm glad you switched to fleece. That's what I use with my pigs and they prefer it. My pigs have the same habit yours seem to have when it comes to hay. What I found that works for us is adding in a dish pan to use as
Their hay bin/litter box. It has stopped them from dragging hay all over and keeps most of their "business" in something I can easily remove wash refill and replace daily. It helps keep the fleece in better shape longer and they love the challenge of jumping in and out of it. It's 4 inches deep. I have one pan per piggie and it takes up very little space in the grand scheme of things...and they move them around as they wish.

I have two 4-month-old piggies. They produce 18 piece of poop per minute. I actually counted that!!!! Crazy!
Edit: Today it turned out, that my babies are younger than I thought. They were only four weeks old when I got them (for Christmas). My boyfriend confused the time and I’m not very good at telling their age 😅 They are sooo young. I was prepared for their adolescence. But now I have more time with them as babies ❤️

Sometimes it’s the ordinary things we do all the time that I love to watch. Minnie cam - so cute!!! Thanks for taking the time to show us again how you clean out the cage. Just shaking out the fleece liner pockets and then sweeping everything up looks so easy!! I'm definitely considering getting those liners to try! :) I spent about a half hour cleaning out our piggies' cage this morning, we use the aspen bedding and it's so dusty and messy - I definitely like your new way better! :)

I tried fleece for my two guinea pigs a year ago, to test out the money saving qualities of it.
It did save money, yes, but personally it seemed very unsanitary. With wood shavings the waste passes through it so they aren’t laying directly on their feces. But with fleece nothing passes through so they are walking and sleeping directly on the poop. So I switched back to wood shavings, and the smell was better and my pigs didn’t smell like poop when I cleaned the cage. This is just my personal experience with it. Have a great day.

Rosemary Avera yes, flies are VERY much attracted to guinea pig waste haha. You could set up fly traps on the outside of the cage but make sure the piggies can’t take a bite out of them! Also soaking the cage bottom in vinegar really gets rid of the smell. Hope this helps a bit!

I personally don't think piggie-poop smells, but their urine does. I've got a mix of fleece and bedding in my enclosure, because I figured out that fleece works best with a lot of space - so 1 square meter per pig seemed to be necessary for the liners I have if I didn't want to change more often then every week. They are selfmade out of Molton and Fleece, and I think the materials of the guineadad liners might be more absorbent, but I don't have the money to try out, so the piggie-home is currently 1 third bedding and two thirds fleece, with "pee-pads" below the hideys in the fleece area for fast switch outs when they get wet. Without those pads, I'd propably have to change every 3 days
I use these fleece liners and like them very much. I have 2 guinea pigs and I can go a full week before needing to replace with a fresh one because they are very good at wicking away the moisture and odor. The diamond stitch pattern prevents the fabric from bunching when brushed, which makes the job so much easier. I use a broom and dustpan similar to Julia's and brush away all poop several times a day - it just takes a few minutes. I also replace their hay a couple of times a day. The Guinea Dad liners aren't inexpensive but they are definitely worth the cost. Julia, I loved the Minnie Cam!

I love my guinea dad liners! My one pig never uses the pocket but the little guy loves zooming in and out of it constantly. They are so easy to clean and have helped my allergies so much since switching over from kiln dried pine. I highly recommend for anyone that is intimidated by the traditional fleece method.

Please get Oreo a friend, since Guinea pigs are herd animals. If they are spayed and neutered, maybe a girl? That way he'll feel safe and he can be happiest and healthiest. Just make sure they have a big enough cage.

I love fleece liners. It took me a while for me to adjust to seeing so much visible poo with three boars but if you shake the poo off once a day into the garbage it’s so much cheaper in the long run than shavings. I have a couple Guinea Dad liners but I unfortunately got the older ones and they shrunk a lot. I’ve been making my own with fleece and haul which are cheaper and made from recycled materials.

the way minnie was laying her head against the fleece reminded me of how my guinea pig would sleep in my sweat shirt hood for hours i think we have a special bond cuz every time i sit down with her she runs up on my sholder and hides in my hair she did that the first time i meet her :)

I use a brush for any hay they drop outside their eating area and a shop vac for the droppings. I feed them after every vacuuming so whenever they hear a vacuum they think they are getting fed.
I am experimenting with fleece beneath the 2 wooden houses that my girls usually sleep in. Very often before a cage cleaning we have to play a game of find the veggie bowl. My usual record is about 20 seconds.
