    Good God. Feel so bad and devastated for Johnny Mathis. It was such a beautiful home, built with 56 years of hard labour and love and filled with memories of memorabilia, souvenirs , potraits, and countless of priceless antiques. But Johnny, the greatest singer and strong character that he is took it with a open heart. Love you Johnny.

    Johnny is a prince. The statement he made that "nobody got hurt", shows how compassionate he is, but we all know that he is the one who is hurt the most. I'm thankful that he was not there sleeping, it's much to early for him to leave us!

      +Barron Barber - I thought the same, so noble of Johnny. My sister's boyfriend drives a limo for a living and this one time he had Johnny as a passenger, about 5 years ago, more or less.
      Her boyfriend had told us the majority of the wealthy people are the stingiest clients and almost never tip the limo drivers, who depend on those tips like waiters do. But not Johnny, he gave him a very large tip and then some. Johnny has a big heart.

    Flames may destroy his magnificent home, but NOTHING will ever destroy the love and admiration we, his fans, have for him. May he take comfort in this.

    If you ever read this Mr. Mathis, I am sorry your home has been ruined. I hope you will be able to rebuild and feel as comfortable there as you did in the interview I just watched from a few months ago. God bless you. I will be listening to your Christmas music this month and thinking about you everyday.

    What a shame. Johnny is the best. I feel so bad for him and his family. Perhaps he still has his piano. At 1:33 Jennifer calls it a 'baby grand' which it is not. It is a Steinway Concert Grand, Model "D" the largest concert hall grand piano. I hope that Columbia Records and others who have memorabilia of Johnny might send it to him to help make up for his lost articles. I hope he knows we will never loose our love and admiration for him. No fire can destroy that.

    I grew up listening to Johnny Mathis; my parents had all his albums. I also had a chance to see him LIVE many years ago when he performed at the Carter Baron amphitheater in Washington, D.C. People around me were frowning because I was signing along. So glad he wasn't home when this happened. "Life is a song worth singing why don't you, sing it!"

      To Sudique1 : Your comments about Johnny Mathis' home fire prompted me to write. I also grew up listening to Johnny. I can't imagine a world without him, especially as we approach this Christmas season. I too attended Johnny's concert at a packed Davies Hall in his home town of San Francisco. After the show, I slithered backstage in hopes of meeting him. The 'green room' was filled with dignitaries and V.I.P.s from around the country. Amidst these people, an elderly veteran was wheeled into the corner, and when Johnny entered the room which filled with applause, he ignored all the big shots and immediately walked over to the poor old veteran, kneeling by the side of his wheelchair. He took the man's hand and quietly talked with him. Suddenly, everyone in the room realized how unimportant they really were. Love, respect, thoughtfulness and class. This is Johnny Mathis. In his youth, Johnny Mathis was training for the Olympic games. He had the opportunity to compete in the Olympics. He was that gifted as an athlete, but he chose his singing career instead. Thank God he did, because his gift of song has touched the hearts of millions for over half a century. I just can't imagine the world without him.

    This incident smacks of arson, in my opinion. It's the way his home burned -- and oddly enough in his absence. Someone close to him who was harboring some slight, imagined or real, perhaps? How long was he gone before the fire began? Is it likely that such a fire could self generate just before he arrived back home? Nah, something's fishy about this act! Not that Mathis is hurting or anything like that? It's just it's a home he'd been in for some 50 years. Gone are many good memories. (Not meaning to go off on a tangent. But would you suspect that famous and wealthy persons of color have such a glaring possibility as proper damage factored into their insurance policy? Could it be that any insurance company would cover its assets by charging a higher premium to persons of an ethnic group such as African American celebrities?)

    • @ccaammiinniiito2
      @ccaammiinniiito2 Před 8 lety +1

      Blkserpent1 Lifestyle? For so high a profile entertainer, Mathis has certainly been circumspect with his private life. He had long ago "come out." So that wasn't news, was it? No, someone harbored a grudge against him for X reason. Perhaps the only attention getting event in his life occurred early in the game when he was associated with Helen, his agent. It seems the still mysterious event involved a fracas he found himself in, in a nightclub in Nevada, after which he hopped a plane back to Hollywood. The matter was not exploited by the press, by the way. Other than that, Mathis has been low profile.

      This is only pure speculation on your part. If it was arson it was discovered by investigators.
