The Arc'teryx LEAF Alpha Gen 2 2017 is the best protective shell on the market. The Alpha provides comfort from storms, pouring rain, snow and wind. Made for everyday use in the most inclement conditions. Arc'teryx has revised the technology and features to include: technical construction, lighter weight (with less tape and stitching) this also, increases the breathability of the shell. They used the BD450 3Layer 40D Rip-stop Gore-TEX® Fabric to construct this shell. Gore-Tex L&F 3L 30D Plain weave Nylon on the hood to make it more compact. This fabric is the best on the market and will withstand oils from skin, guns and petroleum and is extremely abrasion resistant. The length will cover all mid-layers and the back hem will cover your lower back when bending down. The most durable waterproof Tactical shell on the market.

Got mine last year it is by far my favorite piece of kit!!! I wear it year round in wet and cool conditions. Biking, hiking , fishing etc. etc. I have never gotten more compliments or questions on anything as this jacket. Also I like changing out the patches to suit the occasion!

I love mine. I have no problem that its "too short". I am a medium guy using a M jacket. Works perfect for me.

I know the zippers changed this year on the alpha sv, did they make the same change on the gen 2?

Is this the same Goretex PRO fabric used in the Alpha FL jacket.? My FL bleeds rather quickly and after emailing Arc they said it's died to the new EPA friendly DWR They use on the fabric. Not too impressed with how fast it bleeds after a light rain.

Willy Pitty you can retreat the jacket with whatever strength you want. If that's a problem. Either way no matter what goretex you get. You'll have to retreat it eventually.

Wy have they removed the cable hole in the front pocket on the new version of the alpha gen 2 jacket ? Where it was possible to run cables through , I’m sure there’s a reason ?

They look like they covered all the needs of military. but they don't list the cold weather ratings...how cold are the jackets good to? Not listed. on their website as other brands do. Of hi-end winter wear. Like TNF, Canada Goose....etc.

what's the difference in N100P and BD450 goretex fabrics? leaf alpha gen2 or alpha SV... they really should make aero hood version of gen 2 alpha with side pockets and patches! stove away hoods are bad...

SV is too loud and stiff. its meant to rock climbing. This is makes less noise and softer.

    Dear friend,
I owned the arcteryx theya ar and used the jacket for 2 years eqch day and washing the jacket each 2 months and after the 2 years zippers are broken and the laminate glue coming loose from the fabric.
I’m very disappointed in the quality for the price arcteryx asking for the jacket €649, absolutely not worthy. And after sending it to arcteryx it came back without replacing the jacket just glued together and this happens in the first month after the 2 Years warranty.
    Shame on arcteryx netherlands
How is this jacket Arc’Teryx alpha Leaf jacket is it better made than the allround arcteryx line. Or is it the same bullshit.
I like the design and idea of this arcteryx alpha leaf gen 2 is it worthy the money.

plastic jacket that still doesn't breath as good as a cheapest softshell. Having packable poncho just in case is way more comfortable. Unless you live in a rainforest and it rains more % of the time, so it starts to make sense... but i doubt it anyway... BTW no 2way main zipper in a hardshell "tactical" jacket.. this is $50 max value

Wrong design: too short (note how the guy is forced to pull down the jacket every time he raises his arm to adjust the hood). No reinforcement in the stressed areas, upper pockets in the wrong positions, no IRR. It's the kind of fashionable overpriced product good for dandies when they enjoy their casual friday downtown. Hope A. will design more serious garments for real outdoor conditions. This is not.

Frank Brown this Jacket is standard issued to many special operations groups around the world. They are used in combat operations by US forces as well. Archteryx is one of the best companies on the planet and gets their design specs from people who have actually done the job.

It’s made to use whit a duty belt , it’s shorter for better access . We use the jacket in the SOF units in Norway , it’s a great jacket. We just now went from using the alpha gen 1 to gen 2 , I can agree with you that the ordinary gen 1 jacket was to short ..that’s why we also have the alpha gen 1 alpha parka . I think it’s 6-8 inch longer than the regular one
