Excellent video. It was really informative to explain them side by side like this in a video. It’s practically impossible to find them in a store to be able to make an informed decision and a website listing is typically very lacking.

The foam pieces are also to keep it from riding up if you wear a harness over it. It’s a super old school thing they haven’t put on their jackets in a while

I am a reservist in my country's armed forces and they generally give us Goretex material for jackets and pants; as well as Polartec (Tennier Industries, Tennessee Apparel and Tru-Spec); I also use Goretex military equipment on my trekking days, which more than meets its objectives and is of excellent quality; with all the Arcteryx paraphernalia, it seems to me to be an overrated and very expensive brand.

Underrated channel: is there any information that the Arc’Teryx alpha gen 2 will be replaced by a new gen 3

For anyone who might be curious, Arcteryx customer service is second to none. If there is an issue with something, they will bend over backward to make it right.

Quick question... regarding the COLD WX LT... I've got it back in 2016 and I was wondering whats the differences between that and the newer gen 2 and this years 2.1 versions... is there a reason to upgrade? my jacket is still in good condition. are the newer versions have better fit or even warmer?

Can you remove the patch panel from the alpha. I don’t want to look like I’m on duty when I’m not.

Hi there! Thanks for providing this great video. I wonder if the Arcteryx leaf alpha jacket gen 2 is a SV jacket? The official website shows the fabric of gen 2 is GORE TOF DSP2 (MIL), is this fabric different from GORE-TEX PRO? Thank you!

Yes it’s way different GORE TEX PRO is way heavier and way noisy, if u want extreme performance get a Arc’teryx jacket with gore Tex pro, if u want a daily gore Tex waterproof jacket for everyday of the week in a rainy city u don’t need a gore Tex pro shell jacket
