Kayaking a Freshwater Fjord - A Paddling Adventure in Killarney | Paddle Tales

- I’ve been kayaking and canoeing in the Killarney area a number of times, and I’ll keep going back, because it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world. It also has a huge variety of world-class kayak touring and canoe tripping adventures to choose from, both in and around Killarney Provincial Park.
On this particular trip, I was excited to explore a part of the Georgian Bay coastline that I'd never seen. Baie Fine is a freshwater fjord that lies about 30-kilometers from the village of Killarney. My mission on this Paddle Tales Adventure was to paddle up Baie Fine, and then hike to a perched lake that is rumoured to have the most beautiful, clear and refreshing water in the world.

That level of confidence! Also reassuring - you can go camping and know everything will be perfect.
The place is amazing, indeed! Happy to see you did what you went there for!
Paddled to the Pool and back on a 4-night trip from Birch Island June '23 and it was hot. End of Baie Fin to the pool is 10 miles.
Beautiful! Once the world gets back to a semblance of normal I’d love to go there

Oh man, you've got me so inspired for summer 2022. My son and I have paddled lots out of Chikanishing, camping on The Foxes, Solomon's and some unnamed rocks! We've been been talking about paddling up to Topaz from Killarney. Be a good 3-4 days round trip. Need to talk to Ted about campsites in Baie Fine. I do like the idea of taking the water taxi, and having more time to explore the area. Great video Ken, love your passion :)
I'm with you! I love that place... I'm heading back this summer at least twice. Doing a 5-day canoe trip in the park, and then a 2-3 day sea kayak trip out of Chikanishing. Can't wait! Maybe we'll see you on the water! :)
@@PaddleTV I'll keep my eye out!
I feel like a dope. I live on Georgian Bay, and I've never been there. Amazing, vid. Thank you. 🙂👍🛶
The good news is, it's not going anywhere! ;)
Another great video!
Beautiful place, very well told story. But euh... before the swim, what is your excuse not to cool down by some descent rolls? Hahaha
Maybe he did not feel comfortable rolling the Trak kayak?
Amazing place 💚🛶 It is my dream to go the Canada and USA and paddling on rivers, lakes, shores... Mmm 🤗
hopefully sooner than later!
@@PaddleTV 💚 i wish so 😀
I really enjoyed your video, always do. One question, is the a VHF radio? Range can't be very good but if its a DSC with GPS? Makes sense.
How long do you have the Trak 2.0? Do you like it?
I've paddled a Trak kayak for about 15 years... since the very first one came out. I've really enjoyed it ever since then. The Trak 2.0 is slick for sure. I'm a big fan.
So when you switch from kayaking to hiking, what do you do with your boat? Is there a way to protect it against theft?
In this case, I just left it on the side of the trail. We were so remote, that theft wasn't an issue. If you're in an area were theft is a real concern, I would bring a cable lock to lock the kayak to a tree, like what you would use to lock a bike. Some kayaks have fixed security loops to go through, but if yours doesn't, you can go around the seat, or through a scupper hole if you're using a sit on top kayak.
