  • There are 1000 good reasons to go kayaking in the Thousand Islands. I think the coolest thing about the area is how it blends a stunning, coastal wilderness environment with outdoor lifestyles, as many of the 1000 islands are inhabited.

    This is a fun episode. I've had some great paddles in this area, especially this year. Scott and his team at 1000 Islands Kayaking have done an great job this year of adapting operations to be safe during C19. The weekly "Paddle & Pints" evening paddles that they offer may have lacked pints this year, but made up with it with lots of sunsets and good company. It's a great place to paddle for sure, and there's still lots more that I want to explore.

    at 6:39 that is called Jack's Shack. I grew up on the Towers Island #14 just behind! Paddled canoes all around these Islands for years. Beautiful. The Briton's wreck is great from the air!

    I totally agree my garage has room fir both whitewater and sea kayaks and both get equal time on the water.

  • @BrianthatiscalledBrian

      It turned out to be a really fun year of 'local exploring', although I'm still a little bummed that I had to cancel my summer trip to the Nahanni. It's been number 1 on my bucket list since I did the Grand Canyon, and I was finally getting to do it this summer... Hopefully I can do it next summer instead. In the meantime, I'm going to continue to love exploring the 'backyard'. :)

    We've enjoyed kayak camping in the Admiralty Islands (where you were in this video), as well as on Grenadier Island near the Mallorytown Landing visitor centre of the National Park. The current and winds can be quite strong on the Saint Lawrence, so be prepared for that if necessary.

    Need a passport for this trip?

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  Před 3 lety +1

      If you're 'crossing the border' and landing on a foreign island or the mainland, you are supposed to check in and notify customs/border patrol beforehand. You don't need a passport if you stay on the water.

      @@PaddleTV What are you on about?! This is not correct. Even on the water one must report when crossing into Canada. Innocent passage doesn't exactly work like that on the great lakes.
