In this video, I show you how to set up a music studio at home for $500. This list has some of my favorite and most recommended gear including an audio interface, microphone, headphones, speakers (studio monitors), keyboard, and software. This music studio is excellent for producers, singers, songwriters, beatmakers, and for hip hop, R&B, trap, EDM, pop, rock, and pretty much every genre. If you're a singer or rapper, you'll love the microphone I've included too! This is the best music studio setup for $500 that I can recommend.

Hi #sanjay c can you make a studeo set up that most suits for metal musicians thanks
It's great to be an American, back home in Africa it cost amd arm and a leg. $500 is equal to R7 389,48 in South Africa which doesn't even buy a pair of proper studio monitors.
You will need around R20 000 which is equivalent to $1353.28 for a decent amount of money for a budget studio.
hey sanjay make a how to build a great music studio for R$500 ($100) without a computer.

Hi Presonus!
Studio One is the BEST DAW... I cannot recommend it highly enough!
@@PositiveActionMan Agree
@@PositiveActionMan but Cubase is a really tuff competitor for studio one. Hope they will surprise us becoming the best DAW with their next update with amazing features.
😲👏🏽🎉THIS IS YOUR 300th VIDEO!🥳🔥
Woah!! I didn’t even realize that!
Really!! That’s Great!!

The reality check around 4:10 is so useful because I once thought new gear would make me better. Working and creating with your gear regularly is what makes you better.
True
Thanks so much for this! I recently put together my first home studio, and went with everything you had in this video. Still using the headphones and microphone, I’m a guitarist. All I added was an ZOOM Q8 camera. I love it so far!!!! Absolutely great set up for a beginning home studio! Thank you so much!
Woah!! This setup looks soooooooo good 🥳🥳
What do you think of the gear I chose for this setup?
@@SanjayC As always Sanjay AWESOME!!!😄😄
@@SanjayC so what do I do if I dont have a computer or literally anything but a phone and I make beats off bandlab
LOVE these types of videos… very helpful when looking for gear. Thank you!
I am currently building my studio set up step by step and your videos are incredible for all my research, thank you, thank you and thank you :D
Thank you for your videos by the way. It is enjoyable to watch you, beacuse of your thorough introduction and your mild and friendly being.
Great follow-up to your previous budget production setup! Thanks, Sanjay!
Excellent video as always Sanjay! Very informative. The new setup with all the plants and lighting looks absolutely amazing :)
The production quality and the lighting is just……(chef’s kiss)
Thanks so much!
I've been working with DAWs and writing / recording electronic music for over 20 years, and this is a great video on what to consider when getting started. Best advice in this whole video:
1. Don't wait until it's perfect
2. Make the music YOU love
Cheers Sanjay!
AMAZING studio for the price!Great video and I bet a lot of work went into the making because it’s bang on! Thanks for your newsletter too. Helps us keep on top of things.
Thanks so much and happy you’re subscribed to the newsletter!
Sanjay’s videos are always such high quality… i’ve already built my studio but these vids rlly are entertaining and informative lmao
This is an incredible video! I love the way you filmed, gave the choices and the knowledge you share! Plus the ambiance is ❤️🔥💫🥳 YOU ARE AMAZING! I need to tell you this more! You make people happy. (Me happy by how you help others!)♥️💕
Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed the video! ;-)
You both are awesome!
I love Ableton Live but I went for cubase 11 pro as I love the traditional user interface and I'm more into pop ,rnb and orchestral stuff rather than edm(I'm 16 and just created my first home studio) I truly love your content , you've helped a lot of people by sharing those great tips about Music production and gear , thanks a lot
I appreciate that. So cool that you already have a studio at 16! Keep working hard at it!
So glad I found this video. Very helpful and clear explanation.
Thank you from the ❤
Hi Sanjay !
I use to watch all of your videos. Really excellent and very usefull and valuable for home studio lovers like me.
Wish you all the best !
Thank You for this video!! 🙏🙏
I'm so glad that you have really recommended us the best value for music gears. Because of your videos , I ended up buying the novation mini mk3 and the presonus bundle which are so valuable for the budget price (especially the Daws included) . Thanks Sanjay C
Anytime!
Your reviews are simply the best ...I would never miss one 😀🤗
Wow, thank you!
Love your set up its simple roomie and clean
Am so surprised how long I’ve know and watch your channel and just subscribing today. I always thought I subscribed already
Solid choices! Great Video :)
WOW, man, such a timely thing to do!!
I have gone for Beyerdynamic 770 250 ohm... following an earlier reco by you...no complaints there so far..
Brilliant clip, thanks so much
this vid is so helpful thank u king
Amazing, as always. Thanks, Sanjay!
Glad you dig it!
thanks for sharing!!
Anytime. What do you think of the gear I selected?
Thankyou Sanjay!
The lighting is amazing!!!🔥
Thanks so much! Trying something new
New background is really amazing! Feeling fresh😌
Thanks!
Thanks for that... I need to get that keyboard. Always a joy to watch.
If youve got a little extra cash get the next keyboard I review on my channel 😉
I started out with a Lexicon Alpha audio interface and Waveform 11 free DAW. I recommend Waveform 11 to any beginner artists/producers because it's free with plenty of killer features and it helped me understand the basics of music production. You can still make amazing music with cheap gear. It's about how you use the gear rather than what that gear is. Use it to your advantage
thank a lot for your sharing
Those headphones were game changers. Thanks for the tip.
Awesome place and setup...💛💛💛😍😍😍😍Looks soo Good
Thank you so much 🤗
Great content, this video will help lots of musicians and producers.
INFORMATIVE 🔥👌🏿
The lighting setup tho💥❤️
Studio One❤🔥 Game changer
Wonderful review and advice. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much
The visual is just clean
0:10 AYYY STUDIO ONE!!!! Love this DAW
Yes...great DAW...needs more exposure! :-D
@@SanjayC Definitely, Luca Pretolesi uses it for mixing and mastering professionally and even sis a course with stock plugins, this shows just how good it can be in the right hands.
@@cameronpritchard626 A lot of Pros said that Studio One is excellent for mixing and mastering and I agree too.
@@carlosserrano3985 it is, it’s the only DAW with a built in mastering suite
These are one of the Finest Video Qualities from Producers!😁
Thanks so much, Samuel!
The last few lines you said at the end of the video.. was👌
Great video Brother 👍🏻.
Greetings from the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴.
I think the one item in most jealous of from your main studio is that desk! Maybe someday...
Oh man...its sooo nice. Sorry :-P
@@SanjayC lol
Your setup looks so sick bro !!!
If you are doing punk or metal vocals, I would recommend a dynamic microphone instead of a condenser microphone, because they can handle much louder sounds without maxing out.
Great video and explaining all the equipment by details
Thanks
Thank you!
Anytime.
Thank you Sanjay🖤🦂🔥🔥
You're welcome! 🙏
Thanks for this awesome video
Glad you liked it! What do you think of the headphones I chose?
Sanjay you’re 100% right ✊🏾because I had brought my 12 year old nephew a brand new pair of PreSonus Eris E3.5 BT-3.5" Near Field Studio Monitors off the Mercari App for $142 with shipping a used like new Akai MPK MK3 USB midi controller $42 a Toner TC-777 mic $28.99 a Focusrite Solo 3rd Generation interface $50 for his 2013 iMac 🖥️ & he’s using Ableton live 11 with the free plugins (Keystone Classics, Dexed, Izotope Vinyl & Spit Fire-Audio soft piano 🎹 strings)
I like this setup 👍
Very nice!
This video will help lot of producers and musicians , Thank you sanjay for summing up every gears that you've reviewed till now 👏
I highly recommend to check the mentioned videos with gear comparison to get full idea 💡 for your next studio upgrade ❤
Thanks so much Premkumaar! Next video I'm working on is the $1,000 studio! What would you recommend?
@@SanjayC wow, that is really great idea
@@SanjayC with what piece of software did you get output movement? Ive been wanting movement for a while now
I waited so long for this! You said you are working on this video about 2 months ago in one of your news videos
Thanks for being so patient waiting for it.
Taking online courses for ableton and I’m planning on making all sorts of Edm. Everything from house to dubstep to dnb. All I need right now for my setup is some better headphones. I have Astro a20s and I’m planning on getting some focal listen pros. And I also need and audio interface for when I get better with making music. You make very good videos btw 👍🏻
Thank you so much for the information. Do you have a video on how to set this up? Where everything goes and where to plug in?
Yay another vid!
Hey Cameron! :-)
@@SanjayC loving these mew setups, vids as always are great!
Great video for starting out
Thanks!
The one thing I would change is treating- treating is everything when using monitors. Spectre Sound Studios has a great tutorial on how to build super cheap bass/mid traps you can hang on the walls, definitely very important for mixing.
Do u have link
Love the way you explained everything 🇮🇳🔥❤️🎹🎵🎸
Thanks for the vid, don't forget the MPC Beats free DAW also.
Thanks for this wonderful studio setup video.🎹🎙️🎧
Glad you like it!
@@SanjayC Need your valuable advice on choosing a studio monitoring headphones. I am kind of stuck between the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and the Sony MDR 7506. The HD 280 Pro costs around Rs. 6,250/- and the MDR 7506 costs Rs. 7,490/- here on Amazon India. Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance for the reply.
P.S.: Amazon Prime Day sale here in India is on 26-27 July.😊
I'm subscribed now because you will be alot of help for me.
Thanks for the support! 🙏
4:27 Wow, 3 years went fast!
Seriously....right? Time flies...we gotta get on that music! :-D
So true
@@SanjayC yes we really do
I already my studio setup mostly, just missing a few synths, some more percussion instruments, and a Rhodes ep!!! But this video was really helpful for those starting out.
I would recommend the Waves Rhodes plugin. If you can get it on sale. :-)
Hi Jade!! I'm so glad you've got your setup already. Share it here so others can benefit from your experience
Nice explain sir
So, good ❤
My ideal setup for Mobility:
Focusrite 2i2, Novation Launchkey Mini, Audio Technica Headphones, AKG P120 Condenser Mic. (I Miss Analog Lab)
My ideal permanent setup:
Focusrite 2i2, Arturia Keylab Essential, AT Headphones/ other, AKG P120, and a Novation Launchpad.
We really love such kind of videos ❤️
Glad you like them! What do you think of the gear I chose? Anything you would change?
Nope...for the budget its really best...but If I m allowed to increase a bit I will go with the OG dt 770 pro
Following the recommendations of the channel, in my studio I have the presonus Eris 4.5 and the AKG p120, and I have to say that i'm really happy with the results! (The problem is that Here in Chile I spent $500 just in those 2 things :c)
Thanks for everything Sanjay! Best channel ever!
How do you like the p120 mic? How sensitive is it? I don’t want to hearing voices from another room or cars passing by.
How bro how you intelligent nice keep it up.i am already seen your previous studio setup.Proud to be a fan 😭😭❤️❤️😀😀🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much 😀 I really love the support for my work
Lighting really is top
Great video! Unless I'm missing something they have jacked their prices up so the is now a +$600 kit.
Excellent video-takes all the hard work out of the way for lazy people like myself-i also checked the mentioned gear feedback on other sites & Sanjay, you have really chosen A+ quality stuff for it's price point, many thanks.
BTW, could you please tell me what are the bases/stands (not basses ) underneath your monitors? I went through your listings but i couldn't find them there- & finally could you suggest a good AI with loopback that is cheap (i would like to use it to make playing along with you tube vids on my guitar)-thanks in advance & keep the vids coming.
I use the superlux hd 681 headphones and they are great for their price!!
I love this video 😻
Thank you Debdoot Manna!
Love you sensei
🙏🏼🙏🏼
El arte es inmenso
thats so cool!🔥
Thanks! What do you think of the gear I chose?
@@SanjayC I think it's amazing. Cause im starting off my music career and i was extremely confused on, what i should use and get. Your channel has been an amazing guide for it and half my studio is based on what you suggested. I personally think this is best you can get for the price!
Happy to be a subscriber of your channel! :D
I have audient id4 mk2, beyerdynamic dt990 pro 250ohm, novation launchkey 61 mk3 and I am paying monthly to studio one. I can say its hell of a setup and the audio interface runs the headphones smoothly. I just started learning studio one and loved it. Cant wait to go pro!
Happy to hear that. I use Ableton Live but Studio One is a solid DAW for sure.
yay , presonus eris e4.5 studio monitors , the ones im currently using :D
Good choice!
@@SanjayC Thanks , will upgrade once I get myself an acoustically treated room but for now until B tech , i plan on mixing in presonus itself and cross checking it with dt 770 pros and other audio devices
Some day i will be creating a good studio like this for now im saving money😅 very good video sanjay... youve been a best youtuber for me and i have plans of recording rap songs
I need to Learn from you!
I'll take inspiration from what you did with 680$. thanks
Love hearing that. Even if you change things up...whatever works for you
Hey Sanjay, thanks for all you do for the music community! I have a question that's a bit outside the scope of this vid. What do you think are the sweet spots for RAM and SSD size for the M2 air? Largely beat making, composition, some recording. More Vsts than real instruments, maybe at a 65:35 ratio. Will only be using large orchestral sample instruments about 10-15% of the time. Thanks again.
Hi, I loved this...fab stuff!
Every aspiring artist and producer should watch this, in fact, a few times...
You speakers, are they resting on the Iso-acoustic supports?
Yes, I really like the IsoAcoustics stands. I hear a difference
Studio One works great . And the eris lines of monitors are awesome as well.
Yes for sure.
Studio One is growing and is becoming more popular, I choose it and I'm happy with the performance.
PS: I have the 5.3 Professional.
Sanjay, can you add a link for that headphones stand? It definitely keeps your space in order. LOVE your video. taking a lot of ideas from you. Thanks and continued success!!!
Check the video description. I added it. IsoAcoustics
super video
U r best CZcamsr... Bhai ..
Almost exact, I should say. I went with the Presonus Usb 96 bundle, with the 3.5 monitors.
Mixing plugins are the most important things in electronic production
Great great video Sanjay, thank you so much! Just one question. Is the mic stand included or did you buy it seperately? If you have to buy it, i whould love to know the name of it :)
Great video! Quick question for you. For recording a drum kit, will that one microphone do the job? I know it’s recommended to use multiple mics for drums, but will one microphone work?
