Sweet, I just got the original 1.33x 40 anamorphot for $350 on ebay. Gonna use this with the pocket 6k and get 7K wide screen. Woah. Nice work on the video reminds me of Tennessee.
Lawton Meyer haha nice man! Great stuff. I know there will be lens distortions with anamorphic, but does it get all jelloed like that all the time when you movie?
I've noticed that happening when you use front adapters. I don't believe it's an anamorphic quality, but an adapter quality. So with a lot of these smaller adapters you're essentially putting a lens in front of your lens. A few times I used the letus anamorphic adapter with cinema lenses and didn't notice it. It's a much sturdier set up, and clamps on rather than screws on like this one, and others. I'm not a fan of the screw on types, but unfortunately they're the most affordable. If you check out my video "return to nature" I had the letus and tokina cinema lens combo for that and as far as I can see it's much sturdier.
Lawton Meyer that's awesome and good to know. I'm thinking of getting some budget anamorphics and preordering the Black Magic Pocket Cinema 4K. Also where are you from if you don't mind me asking?
Really nice video. I know you are using the Slr magic 25mm, what is the actual focal length aftet the setup with the 25mm lens on your ght5? do you know the calculation?
The actual focal length is 25mm. The field of view when paired with a mft sensor becomes 50mm. With the anamorphot 1.3x I think it widens it back to roughly 30mm or so. Not sure on the exact number off the top of my head.
Thanks. Well it's a lens plus adapter, and was right around 1000 I believe. To get a true anamorphic lens, I believe the cheapest option at the moment is 7000-8000.
If you want sharp across the frame then anamorphic is not for you, unless you want to spend $40,000. There's ways you can fake it, do a wide screen crop for starters like 3840x1634 for example. Then you can get these front filters from Vid Atlantic that give semi water fall bokeh and ovals, although it only works wide open and it's not great, but it's something. Most anamorphics are not super clean, which for alot of people is the charm of them. To get super clean anamorphics you need to look at cooke and Arri, but those are going to be 5 figure costs per lens.
With the latest GH5 firmware you can now shoot 6K 4:3 ratio - I think it is really closer to 5K, but you’re getting a little extra to “throw out” in post if you’re on a 4K or 1080P timeline. If you throw on the SLR Magic Anamorphot 40 you’ll be getting some anamorphic qualities like lens flares. Then crop as needed in post to get rid of those blurred edges.

Nice !!! You use the SLR magic rangefinder for focusing ??
Nope, just focus with the adapter, lens set to infinity.
Is this with the original ($799 version) or the newish Compact ($499)?
hyperbolic films This is the original.
Is this up by Sam's point in New York?!! Sick Footage by the way
That's exactly where it is! Was checking the caves out for a short film, grabbed some footage while I was there.

Sounds dope! I don't really like saying where I'm from on here, but feel free to find me on facebook or instagram lol.

Awesome as always...... Will you make a video of ur filming rig, process....
Thanks! Yes I would like to make those videos soon.
Hi , wich anamorpho 40 is it? the one with 62mm filter or the other with 82mm filter? thanks.
Swadric A. 82mm
Again, lovely and calm. How much did you pick your anomorphic lense up for?
Thanks. Well it's a lens plus adapter, and was right around 1000 I believe. To get a true anamorphic lens, I believe the cheapest option at the moment is 7000-8000.
Is that 1000 for just the adapter? That’s quite costly.
@@johncone4989 It's for lens and adapter. And yes any type of anamorphic does not come cheap. This is a "budget" option.
Lawton Meyer oh well that dosent sound that bad. Do you think the anomorphic adapter is worth it.
@@johncone4989 It really depends on what you're shooting and what type of look you're going for.
is there any way of gettin rid of the blur on both sides? i like the anamorphic look just i want my lens to show sharp image all around the frame

Have a Fullframe Quality :)
Which ratio are you using? Have the same - are you experiencing heavy vignetting?
Erik Krafft I'm not quite certain that the exact ratio is, the specs say 2.35 but it's definitely wider than that.
Which micro third lens used with the adapter?
Slr magic 25mm hyper prime.
Why the video is blur left and right? Use someone effect tool?
Simple As That That's just a characteristic of anamorphic lenses.
What was your taking lens?
VariTimo SLR magic 25mm hyper prime.
what picture profile or other settings did you use?
Vlog for all. 800 iso + nd filter, f2.8-f5.6, shutter angle 180. I think that's it!
Lawton Meyer cool cool. cineD or standard profile?
V Log
