    Beginner's Perspective and First Look. I recently had a chance to test the new SLR Magic Anamorphot 1,33x 40 (compact) budget anamorphic adapter for 16:9 sensor cameras that was first presented during NAB 2017.
    Read on for my impressions of this SLR Magic anamorphic adapter as I plunge into the world of anamorphic shooting for the first time! www.cinema5d.c...

    I guess I am one of the few that really embrace this look. People are saying " oh it looks terrible and what not" but to me it's imperfection is unique. I have seen Films with this similar look. This is art folks. Thank you cinema 5D for sharing this. Awesome Mini-Documentary!

      I think if you want to make a movie you're going to sell, best not to use this, if that many people hate it, they won't sit through a movie caked in RGBLCA and strange focus issues.

    Interesting video. Forgot about the camera gear & focused on the subject & what she had to say.

    Wow! Excellent, very interesting wish this were a bit longer in length with a bit more detail on type of organ and how it was built.

    SLR magic anamorphic lenses really nail that "absolutely awful" looking aesthetic! Where can I order one to lose another $500?

    It generally looks good. My only concern is with the amount of chromatic aberration in the image.
    Otherwise, nice one.

    Very well done!
    I was wondering what lens was used to mount the Anamorphot adapter? Also what F-Stop? I was watching the introductory video and Andrew said the recommended setting is F/4 and beyond, but I wished see what it would look like at faster aperture.

    Is it just me or does the interview look like it has a "fake vhs" filter/effect on it?

    • @Quaabo
      @Quaabo Před 4 lety

      It's not fake VHS, but real chromatic abberation.

  • @kezadrone
    @kezadrone Před 7 lety +1

    I can see the chromatic aberration being a huge issue with serious professional green screen compositing, fact is folk, if you want real anamorphic shots, you'll need to start spending at £2,000 and upwards.

    beautiful subject and amazing character, but i wish you filmed that with Kowas, or at least SLR magic ana. primes.
    Nevertheless, great lil doc!

    Made great things with not so great tools.
    The image "distortion" is bothersome, probably the lens.

    Interesting video- I just received my SLR Magic Anamorphot 1,33x - 40 (Compact) adapter and love it (makes for great portable anamorphic shooting)- even works with my micro four thirds Panasonic 15mm f1.7 lens on my G85 without vignetting so long as in 4k and e-stabilization is added (cropped in enough).. however, On testing I found if you stretch the 16:9 footage shot with this to a 2.35:1 ratio it is too stretched horizontally at that advertised aspect ratio (2.35:1)…ie. a 2.35:1 aspect is stretched too far and doesn’t look good/natural.. Testing on footage shooting a perfectly circular object (a ball), in order to make the ball look perfectly circular again after desqueezing the footage (and not looking squeezed/oval anymore) a final aspect ratio of only approximately 2.13:1 is required (not a proper anamorphic look) which makes it really only a 1.2x adapter and not truly 1.333x.. did you notice this at all when you had it? interested in your thoughts..cheers!

      It's really well done and tasteful man. Vintage looking, but in a real clean, accurate, not cheesy way. like a pro BBC documentary from the early 2000's. Don't let discourage you, keep it up...

      cinema5D .com cinema5D .com i apologize for the harsh remark but the video you posted gives a very bad impression of the image generated from both the panasonic gh5 and the slr magic anamorphic adaptor unless this is the image that the adaptor and camera generate

    I don't agree that the aesthetic is awful. Although I don't feel like anamorphic was the best aspect ratio to use. This was more documentary and I think needed a more video look then a film look. However, it lured me into watching the entire video even though I did not find the subject matter interesting.... so in that way the lens choice worked.
