- FURTHUR bus restoration-first step.
Removing the bus from the woods ("swamp"). A group of volunteers and Original Merry Pranksters help pull Ken Kesey's 1939 International Harvester out of the woods where it has been deteriorating. Reel #1. The next step is up to the people. The Kesey's will donate the bus to the Furthur down The Road Foundation to be restored if the foundation can raise the money to restore it. To donate (tax exempt) go to www.furthurdowntheroad.org/
Only Oregonians could pull this off !!!!
I love these folks Ken, Babs ,Jerry, and Neal would be proud,,,,,,,
I'm from Washington and we could pull this off not only y'all can
Watching the tires spin on the tow truck, knowing that for the first time in 30+ yrs force is being applied to that old magic historic artifact of a bus, and knowing within a few seconds that it might be inching forward it backwards for the first time in so long, that was a poignant moment to reflect on. First movement/first time force has been applied to the bus in so long. One love you guys
Out of the swamp and through the woods to rest in the light in the pasture. Amazing journey thus far. Mutch further to go.

A piece of American history, kind of a crazy period but history none the less. It is a relic, if not the biggest and most widely known relic from the hippie generation. To me its as important as the 1969 Woodstock film.
Right on...
If I got a dollar for every video I have seen where a group of people save an old hippy bus, I would have $2
Hey Zane,
Thank you for resurrecting Furthur! About three years ago I went to the Country Fair and got to see Furthur 2.0 in person. I cried the moment I read the destination on the front. I can't wait to see her finished and back to her original magical splendor. I'd also like to run into you sometime this next summer at fair. At least get a photo with you and thank you in person.
the vibes of the sixties is maybe still in the air from the sixties, trapped in these old tires
Maybe they'll find some vintage LSD
+f marz I remember Timothy Leary style acid... Vaguely...

Thank You for documenting this!
It looks cool just like it is!
Restoring history AWESOME
I would love to pressure wash that old bus the first time!
I like that Bus right where it's at. That's just great the way it is with that moss growing naturally on the roof. I think nature has done a wonderful job of reclaiming it. That's years worth of natural camouflage your undoing there. It's like a tug of war your havin there with nature; just a silly little 2 step. Two steps forward, two steps back. Hopefully Nature'll prevail against man in the end. Sadly, it doesn't look like it's going to play out that way.
I believe that I see Neil Cassidy behind the wheel of the ghost bus.
a lot of great memories in that bus I bet!
I've been wondering where this has been, pretty freaking cool to see her again
That is awesome guys
To absolútne nemá chybu 👍 kdovi či v tej dobe vôbec existovali technické preukazy 👍👍👍
Or, as Ken would say,
'put your good where it will do the most.'
The stuff my bus dreams are made of.
That's a cool bus.
Wow Great to see you George! You are the real deal, and a great American. I still see some of the old gang from Ore. I am in Marin, doing the same thing on the same old stuff, with Tom. Pls Zane, tell George, that I said hi. Troy.
So cool!
looks cool
Cool! Power!

I live in Oregon, but I have no idea where that damn bus is located. I'd like to see it someday.
It's locked up private property. This is why we want it restored and able to be in places to be viewed.
Hippies cutting down trees...LMFAO!!!
looks like hippy bus with alot of hippy ppl
clear coat it, that patina is awesome!!
Zane, what is the date of this video ?
I hope someone has deep pockets for this bus. It is not going to be cheap to restore
at least tyres has air ,thats huge, engine is defenietly siezed up
How long was it sitting in the woods?
wao
2005
The tires still had air in them?!
Cassady air !
I don't think it's a 1964 International Harvester. Judging by the front end, I believe it's either a 1937 or 1938. What do you plan to do with Furthur now that it's finally out of the woods? Are you going to Restore it? Are you going to fix it up? Get it running? If I had a bus like that, and it's been sitting out in the elements as long as this has, I'd clean everything out. I'd replace the windows, I'd restore what can be restored, upgrade what needs to be upgraded. I don't know what kind of engine this bus uses, but most buses these days have diesel engines. I'd install a new diesel engine. :)
yes i m also interested in this
They clearly state in the video it's a 1939 international.
I'd keep the exterior and only restore the interior.
the transport system of theirs looks like horror movies
so much shit happened on that bus, it's a shame they let it get like that.
i see this video in 2017
Get it running and clean the window and drive it be cool
When was this filmed
2005 i think
What is the make of this bus and what kind of body?
Joseph Hughes just look up further merry prankster bus. I believe I it's a gmc
1939 International.
Hi Zane, Can I please have an update on your project? I have a similar one underway myself.
Still raising funds, but looking for a parts vehicle and a shop that can handle us.
SONRA NE OLDU?
Is that Ken kesey's grave that the lantern is hanging from?
the big stone at 02:21:40 is his grave stone
@@zanekesey awesome. I'm guessing you're his son? Hey, what did you ever do with this thing? One last thing, I think it would've been very cool if that little girl on the back of truck was the one that got this bus running again.

@@spibach my bad. Sorry about that.
Wow there’s Izzy. How is Izzy these days?
Wtf did i just watch hippy village usa?

+Ze Carlos. ?
has this restoration been completed? would love an update.
Fundraising stalled and was put on the back burner for a few years for health reasons... now raising funds at full speed. I won't have her ripped apart until I think there is enough funds that she will be put back together.
She is still waiting to start.
@@zanekesey thats smart. Where do we donate? Im sure you hear this a lot, but what your dad and everybody did on that bus inspired me in 2008-2013 to live on a bus and follow around The Dead/Furthur. I remember seeing you with the other bus at Cuthbert Amphitheater in 2010 or 2011 i cant remember. I was on a flat nose bus that had a giant american flag on one side and a mural of mountains on the other. I grew up in Bend Oregon but live in SC now, i sure wish i could be there to help you all. Anyways i would like to where to donate, I dont have much but would love to contribute something.

@@zanekesey Thanks
@@zanekesey Hi Zane, where is the 2nd bus?
0:01 rip headphone users
Why did he put the bus there to begin with?
Where is Furthur now, and what her condition?
She is indoors, waiting to raise more funds. We have raised over 100k and are looking for a parts bus - 1939 (or so) International with Gillig D-50 body. Also looking for a shop and someone to be in charge. We have hundreds of volunteers wanting to help.
Some peculiar Americans there.
dinosorus bus hihihihihihihhihih
Who is ken further???
Who is the short, bald, tie-dyed hippy at 22:55? He reminds me of my old friend, flash gordon. I don't suppose it's him, is it? I know that he and Ken were friends.
Donald French I believe it's Bear Owsley. Shortly before he went to join the great gig in the sky.
He's Izzy Weinstein. He was the janitor in 'Animal House' and the bar tender in 'How to Beat the High Cost of Living.' He also ran for mayor of Eugene because he "looks like a mayor."
@@spibach thanks!

What ever became of this?
We have raised over 100k and need help finding a shop, someone to be in charge and a parts vehicle... please spread the word.
Truly, they are all bozos on this bus.
Power wash that old beauty, check to see if the engine is seized up. If it is contact "1963 impalla" on U tube He might know where you can get another. He is near your location I think, would be a good resouce for you. Another old bozo from the bus. lol
