Colbert always mesmerizes me when he goes unscripted. Dude is smart, charming, cultured, kind and confident. I'd kill to be his friend.
who'd you be willing to kill
I don't think he would fancy a killer.
Seriously guys?
@@Mediados ?
That Lord of the Rings quote was sheer beauty. I wonder how many other songs from Lord of the Rings Stephen has in his mind.
TheGojoseon All of them.
He seems to have an amazing memory for quotes of all kinds.
I was expecting him to mention where that song was located
@@priscillajimenez27 This is when Tom Bombadil is speaking about his wife, so somewhere in the first half of the first book, as the hobbits meet Tom just before getting into Bree.
TheGojoseon ✨🌻✨
She was blown away at his LOTR quote. He is an amazing man.
I don't think she really expected him to produce a legitimate, serious response that she could actually use lol.
To Colbert Staff: More of these Q&A with the audience bits. It's fun to watch Stephen improvise on the spot. For example...
"Can you tell us a guest that you've never had back?" Stephen's response was priceless.
Seriously I would happily watch one of these compilations every week.
To Colbert Staff: I'm sorry. I forgot my manners, tsk, tsk. I forgot to say, Please. So...
Please, can we have more of these Q&A with the audience bits. Thank you.
Does he still have the Nuclear launch codes? Oh, damn it.
When he smiled I knew he'd end up saying Trump lol
@@witchsorrowful1918 I *REALLY* hope they took them away from him. & gave him a Fisher Price play set instead - it's much more his speed.
Stephen is always at his best when there is no script and he can be more himself. What a wonderful human.
Stephen just rattled that off with no hesitation. Man's an expert in his field.
"Dont be afraid to say sorry because you dont lose anything."

As a straight man I gotta say: That's 5 minutes and 8 seconds proof right there, that intelligence is sexy
Amen!
I‘m happy to say that as a man, I‘m in love with Stephen. But really who isn’t?
What about that guy with nuclear launch code?
@@ixionwayne7153 mfking Trump
it's not about gender, it's about charisma and Stephan has it all!
I saw him first, bro! :P
You guys are just plain sick. But, now I understand something, thanks.
I like that when questioned, Stephen sits in the Guests’ Chair.
Space-Cadet David 'Spanky Bonespurs' Dennison : under appreciated comment
I liked that too. Like he's the audience's guest.
Kaiser Wilhelm : Thank you! 🤙
Kaiser Wilhelm : Absolutely, some channels (like TYT) are so Troll infested I don’t even comment there anymore. I’ll read you around.
Kaiser Wilhelm : Yes, anything with really close links to TYT, like Damage Report/TYT Sport are troll filled. Pakman (like Secular Talk & Majority Report) is okay, they’ve got dedicate fans that engages the trolls. I like Rational National & Humanist Report too.
Trump still wondering which guest Stephen never had back
Susey Soll lol trump himself
Susey Soll Hahahaha hmmm 🤔 interesting lol 😂
Susey Soll funny 😁
There's also that rich guy that Colbert Report's Colbert threw water at. Think his name had Richardson or something.
@@MrAlito27 No way!?!?
the letter they gave him with cap’s shield, that’s so cute
And as we discovered during Scarlett Johansson's interview, apparently there's a locked safe behind it?!
David Shi What could be in there? Wouldn't it be cool to see Stephen trying to fly around in a real working Iron Man suit?
David Shi Important to keep valuables right in front of the locked safe.✅
Department of Date Sure, because nobody's going to believe the good stuff is right out in the open like that. Lol
I remember the interview Stephen had with Jon Baptiste! Instant chemistry and I remember the show ended with them performing and dancing out on the streets.
I just googled it and watched it. Very entertaining and funny how he just got right up next to him. It was amazing to see their friendship begin and develop all in that four minutes. Though, his comment on open borders, illegal aliens and being invaded by little Guatemalans hit at home in 2019 when that interview was in 2014. (I'm well aware the issue is decades old, and that his character on that show would say something like that)
Same! I remember watching it as it aired!
@@jeffs6090 where did you watch it? If you don't mind me asking.. cause I looked for it the whole day yesterday but I just found the street dancing part.🤔 Not the interview. Can you please give me the link if possible?😊
@@tasnimtrisha2 - I just googled "Jon Batiste on Colbert Repirt" and it was the first video that popped up. That video link was to Comedy Central's website. I would think that if you saw the one in the street, the interview video would be right next to it.
Just went to watch it. didn't think I could love Jon Batiste any more than I already do, but I do. I will say this, he is completely underutilized on LSSC
First Trevor now Stephen. We love some casual talk time
but hes been doing this for a while, Im not sure which one was first, but this is not his first video of this kind
Stephen's been doing this since the Report, only now it's getting aired. Also, don't forget Hasan Minhaj
Hasan owns this Q&A thing. He's truly genuine. Trevor is also good but he gets too serious and loses humour at times
@@vasu6494 Hasan  Minhaj
I feel this is all an imitation of Trevor, who is really underrated and owns this format. Sorry, they're both great but for some reason Trevor doesn't get the credit for developing as another great talent.
The more I see Stephen Colbert, all the time, the more I think he is simply awesome!
Same here!!!!
My brother was the one that asked about Chicago pizza. It's now the highlight for my family for forever!
Your brother seems funny
This. Was. Awesome! Great to see Stephen interacting with the audience. He’s such a joy to watch. More Q&A videos please!
You do know that trevor noah does the same.
@@Parallel_Visuals They're both heartwarming to watch.
@@rejoyce318 in their on special way.
Ryan Kolman if you’re ever in New-York try to book seats at the taping, it’s really a wonderful experience.
A comedian comes on to warm up the crowd, then Stephen answers a few questions, Jon Baptiste plays a few song and then they do the show in one take (except in case of major screw ups). In 2.5h (including the time it takes to sit everyone) it’s done. It was the best part of my last trip to New-York. During our Q&A someone asked Stephe. His favourite pizza place and my wife and I went there after the show.
He is honest and caring. Thank the universe that so many people see the show. Thank you
0:49 my reaction when stephen quotes stuff from LOTR 😍😍😍
THIS IS SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. May you play this clip at your friend's wedding.
It's from Tom Bombadil's song about his wife, Goldberry if you wanted to read the rest.
More of these please! I love it when Stephen talks about his life, he’s almost always more interesting than the guests.
No, they won't as this is one of the special little things the audience gets to do that is special to coming to a taping. People make the effort to come to a show's taping, and so they get this little one to one time with Stephen as part of it. Seeing it always on CZcams each week doesn't make it special. That is why it is not posted often.
@@johnking5174 Tbh is not posted often because the questions are almost always the same, I've heard most of the stories Stephen tells in this a couple of times so it's not that special, its just that the audience questions are pretty unoriginal
This is like when a really awesome professor just finished a lecture and takes questions. Very cool to see
He says that saying sorry is very important for keeping a happy marriage. While I wouldn't disagree, I'd say that remembering to say thank you is more important. People tend to remember to say sorry when they're seeking forgiveness. However, many people forget to say thank you on a regular basis especially for the little things.
I've been married almost 30 years and it only gets better.
theman fromtaured those are wise words. Married almost 30 yrs , we’ve never said sorry or thank you. Needless to say it’s falling apart and not getting better.
I'm about to be married in about 2 weeks and while my fiancé is not the "I'm sorry" type (though he'd still say it when the issue is kind'a serious) he's quick to say "Thank you" :) I'm somewhat of a pleaser so saying (and feeling) both is no issue for me. Anyway, having read your comment makes me more happy and optimistic. Thank you! :)
@@teresc3181 Whatever you say or do, it must be sincere and natural. Too many couples treat relationships with a sense of bookkeeping their partners and doing or saying things for forms sake. "Well, I did this so you must do this." "I said this so you must say this." That pattern doesn't work in my opinion. Do what you can and want to do for your partner with affection and sincerity without expecting anything. When your partner does the same, be sincerely thankful and affectionate. Bookkeeping becomes resentment. Love is actually easy to maintain if it were ever there. Love dies hard, but appreciation and affection are very vulnerable if we let them die off.
Best wishes to you and your partner!
@@andrewtaylor6985 Thank you so much for this advice 😄 I'll be sure to take note of it. It'll be easier said than done fore sure, and I'll need to remember all these... Thank you for your well wishes, and may you have at least another 30 years of happy marriage 😄
This year my parents are married 50 years and ppl ask me how did they make it this long and still be in love with each other. I've observed: a) They don't hold grudges b) They pray/worship together c) Neither person stonewalls the other d) They still date each other. Their marriage ain't perfect but it's as close to perfect that I have seen. Oh and I've never heard either party say, I'm sorry. But Stephen's suggestion is a good one to add to the list.
I agree with all the other comments. MORE OF THIS.
This was lovely to watch!!
Colbert is a class act. Little few have the heart, integrity and intelligence he has. He knows how to make people feel at ease. That lord of the rings bit was beautiful
his description of the Chicago pizza (from 2:48-3:18) is very detailed and filled with analogies. idk how he comes with this stuff on the spot
The "almost entirely, but not completely NOT pizza" is actually from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (with "unlike tea" instead of "not pizza").
He's used the baby pool comparison in a previous interview.
@@nicholassmith7984 To be fair, it's a good metaphor.
I would hazard a guess his years doing stand-up comedy laid a good foundation for spontaneity =D
@@jaz1551 and improv
I love when he smiles and his whole face lights up, he's adorable.
Stephen is so smart, so humane, so funny. Just what we need in these dark orange days.
Please put more of these Audience Q&As on CZcams! Colbert really shines during these segments
I think these Q&A clips would be great as a CZcams channel exclusive. Kind of like Between the Scenes over at The Daily Show's channel.
I could watch a whole show of just this. Props to the audience too, on the variety of questions.
That LOTR moment, my God. I know he's a massive nerd and proud of it, but goddamn. To have the memorized, verbatim, ready to drop with literally no notice, is astounding. I'd love to see him as a Shakespeare role. I'd love to see him in a serious role, like King Lear, or Macduff. Also, the way that woman's jaw dropped, and was physically rocked back in her heels by his esoteric knowledge was all of our moods watching it.
He becomes more endearing every day.
What a lovely topic, seen you with your wife and you so obviously love each other Stephen and yes saying sorry is free and easy. 😁
The audience questions should be filmed for every show as an added thing to go on CZcams. It was really enjoyable. Was some good advice he gave and the LoTR verse he said was amazing. The shock and awe of the girl who asked it pretty much said it all.
This was just so refreshing. Just loved it. I want more
@Stephen Colbert Sir, I am not fan of any celebrities so if I say I am in love with you, please do not underestimate it😍
we want more of this
I think the Q & A segment is awesome. Would love to see it more regularly. Can make it a Friday special and compile your favorite ones from the week.
I'd love to see this become an actual segment on your regular CZcams uploads. So nice to see Stephen interacting witht he audience and improvising on the spot.
In the manner of how Mr. Colbert delivered that Lord Of The Rings passage, it instantly and absolutely made me weep. ❤️🕊🕯💫🐾🌎🐾✨🕯🕊❤️
Stephen is such a nerd! I love him.
This is quality stuff. Not that he isn’t like this on the show, but it’s nice to see him deviate away from political humor once in a while. But he’s the master, so whatever he’s most comfortable with!
Please do more videos like this, this is GREAT !!!

I'd love to see more of those Q&A

from where exactly was this LoTR quote?
and props to Stephen, of course he could just recite a quote perfectly on the spot!
To the best of my memory it is from The Two Towers. I could be wrong, though. It's about time for me to read the series again.
It's in the Fellowship of the Ring--one of Tom Bombadil's lines. He didn't appear in the movie, but he has some great poems.
Tom Bombadil, talking about his Lady. After he rescues the hobbits from Old Man Willow, right around the time he takes them to his home for a bit of rest.
@@MeredithAnne88 thanks for all your kind replies! I've read the book some 20 years ago (time flies!) and can't remember such details anymore. it seems I'll have to re-read it once more~
Tom also happens to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe. And supposedly immune to sauron's corruption because the guy just doesn't care.
ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL! More please.

Great stuff! Hope to see more of those Q&As with the audience any time.

Wow I’ve seen him recite so many passages from various poems, plays, novels... I can’t even sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star correctly.
This was great! Please do more of these!
More of these, please!
Stephen is continuing a tradition established by David Letterman. Letterman used to come out on to the Ed Sullivan stage and speak with the audience before each taping. He would usually lean on a turned down camera stand in front of the desk. Letterman rarely taped the audience Q and A sessions with him, he did so on the odd occasion, so Stephen is carrying on this tradition.
Pretty sure all the hosts do that lol it's just that Stephen, Trevor and Hasan have started to post/televise it
I loved the last joke/question.
What ever you are doing, pease keep doing it. Respect and appreciation to you and everyone that makes your show so entertaining. As Yogi Berra said “You can observe a lot by just watching.”
