If theres any proof that media has changed take a look at what happened to Stewart and Colbert. Went from being unique and funny to being just regular media we see nowadays.

it's all about how colbert came in, obviously it doesn't give a good representation.
2011-2012 was pretty much peak popularity for The Colbert Report, so I understand.
Colbert is a much younger figure and more inherently comedic
Colbert always encouraged his audience to be wild and louder. Stewart barely interacted with audience typically just telling jokes, and occasionally cracking up when he would break character with them.
well that’s back when he was in the Colbert Report, where the audience going nuts for him was part of his act haha

sektrNONE That might not be true. I think that Stephen Colbert might be as intelligent/insightful but he deliberately chooses a different approach to comedy and covering the news than Jon Stewart. Jon's approach involves more deconstruction and analysis and basically goes deeper into the issues and is therefore prone to being a little less funny with the advantage of showing greater insight and depth. Just my opinion.

***** When Jimmy did do a week of shows in N.Y. Conan was in L.A. working to make his new show a hit. Jimmy did come out and fully support Conan during the late night debacle Jimmy went so far as to impersonate Leno for a whole episode. Look it up, Jimmy NEVER broke character the entire show it maybe one of the most damning pieces of comedy ever filmed.
