Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

Unlike others who spend their money trying to amass more and more and more and reminding everyone that they are superior because of that money.

This isn't romance--it's love. The two of them are absolutely non-romantically in love with one another. It's so rare for straight men to be so open about their affection. A falling out between them would cause a massive chain reaction and destroy the entire universe. With any luck the effect will limited to our own galaxy.

It’s because John-love his views or hate them-seems to genuinely believe in what he preaches.
The humor is used to form a point, to stick in the side of those in a position of power he feels need to be kept in check, lest they abuse it. But sometimes the anger boils over and jokes just aren’t enough anymore.

If he sits in front of a camera again, it's because so deems it.

( 18th and 19th century was filled with death, disease, war, slavery. The 20th century still had poor health standards and racism in the beginning, but got better later on. Now, we live longer, have technology, and overall better quality of life. At the very most, 2007 might have been slightly better, but we're still in the best time so far in history. )

+47D Those are two different things. Having advanced technology doesn't mean we can't be in dark times. Racism is not as bad, true, but how long until that is turned around? How long before there is a standard to inappropriately profile minorities just because they are one? How long before there are attempts of segregation, the shut down of the First Amendment, the neutralization of our centuries of diplomacy with other nations? This truly could be a very dark time in America, and a dark time for the world.

The thing is, toward the end of his Daily Show tenure, he wasn't as funny. He was clearly worn out, and frustrated by everything. Colbert was consistently funnier, and got at the issues in a way that Jon wasn't because he was clearly so angry about everything. Jon definitely needed a break, and even in this bit, there's a lot more anger than wry commentary. I think we need some of that, but I also respect that, for him, being angry all the time is exhausting and I don't blame him a bit for needing some time away.
I'd love to see him go to a weekly cable format....but then he'd be treading very close to what is now John Oliver's territory.
