  • Problems with this EZ Go Marathon since purchased a few months ago. It turned out to be motor issues.

Great job on the fix. Sometimes you just have to know how to make do with what you got.

Does anyone know how to test this motor,(the post are all 4 straight in a row) and which post are what so I can mark them for identification?

the potentiometer is the switch for the gas pedal the reading is not from 0 to 5 ohms it is 0 to 5000 ohms

We have same cart, same symptoms. I’ve replaced the FNR, Solenoid, no luck. Gonna check motor terminals and see how she does.

Check my other videos. We ended up replacing the motor controller a few months after this video. It's been fine for over a year now.

@@justtinkering6054 so you think it was the controller all along? What troubleshooting reference for the controller did your BIL have? Buggies Unlimited?

@@ericstyer2890 I do think most of the problem was the controller all along. I think the motor stud was a minor issue. I'm glad we checked it and I'm really glad we fixed it. It could have turned into a major problem. I'm not sure what my BIL used for reference for the controller. I would start with cleaning and checking all electrical connections first. Do the simple and cheap things first. Then try to eliminate the expensive components before spending any money.

You have to use 2 wrenches on motor connections. If stud very corroded cut it off as soon as it gets tight

First step is check voltage to motor when throttle full

On a 36 volt system what should I see at the motor studs at full throttle? 36 volts at all 4 studs? Or is it split 18 on one and 18 on other? I have a1 a2 f1 and f2 terminals

Motor could be brushes, it’s a series motor

I'm no expert, but here's what the Internet says. "dielectric grease is an insulator and doesn't conduct electricity"

    0-5K ohm (5000 ohms)
    It’s 0-5K not 5K to 0
