i put a new solenoid on my 2000 ezgo 36v and accidentaly reversed the diode and it fried the peddle micro switch. i turned the diode around the correct way and it fried another switch. Did the diode dead short or did i damage the solenoid or maybe even ( heaven forbid) the controler??

I’m stuck I don’t know what else can it be it’s not moving literally have to place with the reverse and forward back and forth or sometimes mess with the key to back and forth what could it be ?

i’ve got almost the same golf cart. It’s a TXT. And it just stopped clicking when you turn the key on it was clicking, but when you switch from reverse to forward, it would not switch back you had to unplug a wire that goes to the computer and it would reset itself. Now it won’t do anything.

Good video! I just bought a 93 ezgo with year old batteries, The total voltage was 35 v. I had to add 5 1/2 gal of water to fill to ring on each. Also the battery wire terminals on each battery are corroded. Hooked up the charger, 5a, came with the cart, over night and now reads over 36v, each battery reads over 6v. When I clean the connectors, before I reinstall them I'm putting corrosion spray on each. Hope this will stop or slow down the corrosion

To check the main contactor lightly depress pedal until solenoid clicks then short solenoid across the two large main terminals and see if it goes then. Joshua Lee I need your help my guy, just watched this video and it’s been the most helpful so far. Long story short I have a 1996 ezgo TXT 36v. Batteries are about a year old at most, every time I take the cart out it runs for about five minutes and then dies my M - wire coming off the top right hand of the control box is very very hot all of the other wires are not, this one is excessively hot by where the terminal meets the m - control tooth top right of box. Sometimes if I put the pedal down it’ll jump sporadically after it’s died (battery led on dashboard reads full). If I let the cart sit for a while it will then work again. The battery meter on the cart says it’s decently or if not fully charged but dies. I rewired all of the low-voltage wiring off of the forward and reverse assembly I’m on my third control box and third solenoid. I’m at a loss I don’t know what to do. What controller do you have in the cart? What is the name and model of the controller? Also replace the wire that's overheating with at least a 6 gauge wire before it melts something down. Does the cart run full speed and then stop or is it very slow and weak and then stop? One battery could have a bad cell and that can cause it to stop. Batteries need to be loaded tested. What brand batteries are they? Are the batteries fully charged? Are the brakes dragging creating rolling resistance? Does the cart go the normal speed in reverse? Do the headlights turn off when the cart stops? When the cart stops does it first make several clicking sounds and then stops or just stops and there are no noises?

Batteries are fully charged the LED battery indicator on the cart is fully charged when this happens meaning when it stops and I do have lights on the car that don’t go out when the cart all the sudden stops. None of the electrical goes out when the cart stops working. Also, when it does stop working, I have the pedal down to go. The car will jump like it’s trying to go sporadically. But ultimately won’t go. And then after all this happens, I’ll tow it back home put it on the charger and it’ll work again in five or 10 minutes.

The batteries themselves should have never become hot after driving. Were the batteries themselves hot or are you only talking about the battery terminals? If only the battery terminals were hot that means they are dirty and corroded or possibly loose and you may need new wires connecting them because the wires will corrode and not conduct power correctly. I would say check the wires leading to the batteries and also check the wires that go back to the motor. There should be four main wires on the motor be sure all of them are snug and tight and not burnt off.

Make sure the keyswitch is working and the foot pedal control is working as well. Make sure all the batteries are fully charged and that the forward and reverse switch is working. If all that is working it could be a bad speed controller

The first thing you want to check is the battery terminals? Lol ok. Id check the fuses first but I'm just a journeyman electrician.. so idk.

I'm shocked at how so many of you guys have no golf cart experience but don't really believe what I'm saying. Most older carts like this don't even use fuses for the drive system. There are no fuses on a cart like this that can affect the drive. What fuses it may have can either be for the charger circuit or lights and accessories.

To clean the battery terminals properly use a half inch baking soda in a spray bottle filled with water. Spray it on then hose it off..
    Easy Peasy..
NO WIRE WHEEL, NO WIRE BRUSHING..
Jeez, do I have to teach you everything...

Be sure to cover all the electrical parts first, with the exception of the batteries of course. But you're right, b-soda and water is all you need. And then once dry, spray each post with dry lube or a battery post spray. That will slow the corrosion process. Keep batteries CLEAN and dry.

I just replaced my batteries because my golf cart was not moving fast (and batteries were old)…. . New batteries and it’s Still not moving fast. It’ll creep along about 2 miles an hour.

Why replace all that stuff? Just fix the problem and return it to the owner.

This is the difference between quality shops like ours where we fix it thoroughly and we pride ourselves in extremely high customer satisfaction, to where we don't even advertise anymore because of extreme demand, vs shops that do half jobs only for the customer to have to return again and again, frustrated and upset.
