I hope with the next iphone apple does the removable glass thing with all models. It's unnecessarily expensive to replace the back glass on present ones.
Repairable spelling is wrong but It's ok
I am using ridge wallet for 3 years now since i saw you using it. But it seems to have caused (probably) damaged to my phone screen (i was using oneplus 3 that time), but i am not too sure. Can you do the test? I'm using same burnt titanium one. Appreciate it thanks.
That one snapped pulltab knew it couldnt compete against the first one. It threw the white towel immediatly lmao

Don't you, Linus?

You have no idea how happy this makes me as an Apple authorized service provider.
If anything I think this will make it worse for you as it lowers the barrier to entry.
But will you be allowed to do board repair or will it still be board replacement they want you to do
@@wageslave387 it might make it easier for individuals to do it, but it doesn't change the entry point to become an apple authorized repair shop
I use to be in CSS team for AASP support and I am happy too !
@@wageslave387 I highly doubt enough people will be willing to attempt repairing their phones to impact repair shops business more than the convenience of a more easily repairable phone.
that tab pull shattered my perception of reality omfg
"We have to used Alcohol to drown the rest of our problems"
This line got me laughing 🤣 😂
Cringe
Same 😂
It's fun because it's true
I can't drown my problems, they know how to swim 👀🤣
Well, you know, it helps dissolve the stickiness after all
This is huge! It’s just kinda odd Apple didn’t advertise this at all. They put in so much work completely redesigning the phone on the interior while it still looks exactly the same from the outside. Guess they didn’t talk about it because they would have had to admit wrongdoing in the past lol
Apple just likes to pretend that iPhones don't have interiors and are powered by magic
i dont see that price here in Australia maybe its because its US only thats why they kept it somehow a secret
Probably because the pro’s don’t have a redesigned internal layout like the regular 14’s have.
Apple pretty much always does this lol. For example the 7 and 8 look identical except for the glass back on the 8, but the internals are completely different.
Don’t use the word exactly when it’s not accurate.
I'm so excited for the Iballs to be implemented to the iPhone 16
Always loving the teardowns and durability tests. XD
I can see a iPhone 14 transparent being more possible now
Imagine if they make it and donate money to charity along with it
have been thinking of that since Phone Repair Guru's teardown of the 14 and I am waiting to see who will be the first to do it
cool thought
i wish
that's the Nothing Phone 1
Your commentary while taking apart a phone is the greatest! The random humour is perfectly timed.
Agreed with this one. Informative yet humorous. Word play is to good 👍🏻
ok

9:40 the way he roast Gen-z 😐
Its true though I'd love to hear today's 12 year olds try to argue against it lmao
I’ve never understood why apple don’t want anyone to see the interiors of their phones where they look this good.
fr the engineering for the inside is beautiful, now that it's more repairable it can finally be beautiful to repair people
What I find funny is that they don't want you inside their products and despite this they have their apple logo everywhere it counts because they know someone will get in there.
Apple doesn’t want you to think of their devices as computers
@@someone7554 enlight me, what do they want people to see a computer as?
@@trenchcoatsftwthey want people to see their devices as mysterious magical objects that can only be obtained from Apple
6:56 - Here starts the most satisfying part of the video.

Waiting for 14 pro max tear down
THIS!!
Me too
Idiot you buy it and send to him for teardown
be patient all will come
You're gonna pay for it
I love this new iPhone line up, mainly cuz of this exact reason. The ONLY thing Apple really screwed over with the regular models is the lack of 120hz... If it only had that one singular feature it'd be a MUCH better value.
Theyre too big tho
Shoutout to Ridge wallets! I got the key holder a while back, and after some abuse one of the screws holding the pocket clip came off of it when I took it out of my pocket. The screw is tiny, and was immediately lost. I emailed Ridge looking for a replacement screw (or even just the screw size) and they ended up shipping me a replacement key holder for free.
Once again shoutout to Apple for doing what other phone companies have been doing years.
Watch a Samsung teardown, definitely not all phone companies are doing this.
That’s what we say doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way.
That’s what makes apple products special.
And doing it better.
Still Apple got loyal supporters. FFS

I hereby nominate you for the best pull tab pull of all time @6:58. One hell of a perfect pull.
Throw some headphones on and you got yourself a nearly indistinguishable noise of a jackhammer.
This might be my favorite video from this channel yet! My mind was blown off my body when I found out that this iPhone can have the back glass easily removed. I loved all the jokes in the video, and even the ridge wallet sponsored segment was quite useful! Keep doing what you do!
on iphone 13 and 12, it needs to be shattered
Agree. I work at a small iPhone repair shop and the back glass replacements are the bane of my existence. Just the biggest pain.
6:57 that sound... it's sooo soothing to my audio receptors😊☺️
Listening to Jerry crack subtle sarcastic jokes in such a calm manner is so satisfying
7:28 "Alcohol to drown rest of our problems" good point Zack! 😭👍
Thanks Zack for this great work, I respect you always
Fabulous, great voice - great (subtle) wit and incredibly informative.
There’s something so captivating yet unsettling about watching Zach put these phones through the ringer inside and out . I’m glad he does tho , it’s so informative

I have just considered of watching his videos before sleep. Man has such a calming voice and his speech delivery is so smooth. Especially without any irritating music.
Did just that. At least the scraping metal sounds are at the beginning.
I worked at a cell phone repair shop for a while, and I had a ton of charge port repairs, I can't say how many back glass repairs, but we had a lot for sure. It was annoying that I had to pretty much take the entire phone apart to get to the charge port.
I have the same titanium Ridge wallet. Really like it. A few of the screws fell out, but I had some spare screws & used locktite to secure them all. I also have one of your cases for my S20+

Loved when he threw the phone outta de windoe and screamed „glass it or leave it“ I almost cried
Nah bro, more like.
When he said it's "SCRATCHING AT LEVEL 6, WITH DEEPER GROOVES AT LEVEL 7" it is the jerryiest moment of all time. It made me feel so emotional, took me back years ago when i first watched his videos. It made me tear, so much.

I believe the only parts Apple should have to "validate" after a replacement should be parts related to security as in FaceID or TouchID. All other parts should be easy to replace without contacting Apple.
Nah even for that there isn't any reason they should need to validate.
but then stolen iphones can be easily resold for parts, so ...
but but that won't make apple profitable. How could they charge 500 usd for a battery change then 😢
yeah they get around that by claiming that everything is a security risk
why tho? it's still just a dumb sensor and the actual data is encrypted in the motherboard.
Thank you Sir for all the content you give us you give us a insight into the different brands of phones I have learnt alot from you and I have you to thank
That was the smoothest ad transision I've ever seen!
9:42 best sarcastic moment 🤭
"We have to use alcohol to drown the rest of our problem." 😂
Oh my god the first pull tab is the most satisfying I’ve ever seen in my whole life.
If only the charge port was more accessible, still nice to see that it's getting better. Just gotta worry about software locks that server no legitimate purpose.
I haven't seen the inside of a phone in detail in quite a few years. It's insane, you may as well call it modular, it's damn close.
If only it wasn't software locked and you could just upgrade small parts and keep the phone up te date.
ok
@@DerekSmit iyou your dad is qwee
@@DerekSmit and at this point you can see that they totally could do that if they wanted to. They could design new motherboards to work on older models. Thanks for giving me the idea of future that will never happen

6:55 awesome sound
Your tone makes your humor even better. Never thought I'd see a repair video as entertaining as your as with so many followers.
This replaceable back glass is a bigger deal than you would think. This opens up a very niche world of customization, where you can have different colored rails than your back glass. Maybe I'll try red rails and black back glass.
Now to find somebody to reprogram the parts in that new back glass to work with the phone lol
@@czkmeister China in about a week probably lol
OMG yes, I remember this was pretty common with the iPhone 4 and 4S. Almost every mall had a stand to change the color of your iPhone
It would't be ideal though as you do tend to lose the water resistances after opening it up... that isn't to say that it can't be done properly, but compared to the original flush finish from the factory compared to a adhesive removed, scrapped and then resealed, it just wouldn't be as 'trustworthy'.
You could also do a glowing apple logo mod
Imagine your car locking you out for changing the windshield wipers 💀💀
Don't give BMW new ideas 💀

Damn, that is going to look sick!
To late, not a new idea. He's done that already in the past
Yes Apple improved repairability, but also added software lockouts after the repair

I'm glad you made this video I was thinking about getting an iPhone soon.
JerryRig best teardown of all time 🔥
I already watched Phone Repair Guru's and I'm watching yours again cuz i like your version
I’m always giggling at the thought of how phone companies deal with water resistance.
Like a while ago I assumed there’d be rubber lining across the phone, just like the smaller parts, but all the companies instead went: “let’s just glue the phone together. Let’s REALLY glue them boys down. Oh yeah. Sticky time all around. :)”
Also if apple is kind enough to do something like this easier iPhone repair, I feel like it’s probably because they’re about to screw us over by taking out the charge port or something soon, like the sim.
I would welcome to take out the phone of the iphone. Lets leave the i.
Is it a bad thing that the SIM tray is gone? It is only safer than ever? When your iPhone gets stolen and turned off and the SIM is removed, the chance of tracing and getting it back is 0 to none. All providers in the USA provide E-sim.
@@-bjorn-5465 no. E-sim makes you vulnerable. What if it isn’t supported anymore in your country? For example, in russia, right now is impossible to install an esim.
@@lordium1848 I think there are more major problems in Russia right now than not being able to use an USA iPhone outside of the USA (note that the sim tray is only removed from the USA models)
@@-bjorn-5465 phones retain their IMEI number regardless of SIM, and if you report it stolen, your carrier will add it to the database of phones blocked from activating on most any carrier.

The teardown was an awesome job...but the monolog are always what shines in your videos...Oscar winning to be true...keep talking like you always do 😀
Every year more than iPhone lauch event I eagerly wait for Zack's teardown of both device and Apple Inc 😅
Screw it moment was the most epic dramatic explaination of situation.
I work for authorized apple repair location and we have a machine specifically used to remove the screen on the iPhone 12/13/14 and also the back glass on the regular iPhone 14.
Waiting for the iPhone 14 pro teardown and durability test ❤
I gotta say, I don't like iPhones, but I do like the way Apple designs the interior of the phones. Very organized, solid and aesthetically pleasing 👌
i used android for like 10yrs and thought i hated iphones, till i got one.. They are literally just better and theres no two ways about it
Same... Like we can see the effort of making it repairable... (after the mess on the 11/13)... But still they limit you with serial numbers and their sh*tty prices...
At least this one. This one seems like its easier to replace parts. Time will tell if they make those parts actually available for a reasonable price and if they still software lock them.
@@lyianx You're right. We'll see.
Steve Jobs is very particular on the neat organized arrangement...

I hope too see tear down on the iphone 15 love seeing that thanks Jerry!
Hey, Apple ASP here. I had an iPhone XR speaker snap in half on me, definitely had balls. Not sure why they'd not include it in the new model.
Yeah. Was gonna say, they’ve been adding speaker dampening for years on other models. My XS Max has them too
7:05 My goodness...that's a long you pull.
Yep really really really long 😂
Hi
When is the pro tear down and durability coming. Been a while waiting for it.
otally agree, it's good to see that Apple actually did something to make repairability more easy, thanks for this teardown Zack!
6
in other tear downs the metal plate behind the front glass is silver... but yours is black, is this to differ between iPhones with a sim tray and without?
thats depend on the frame color of every iphone as the frame and plate is a single piece of sheet.
it matches the color of the phone, with some of the bright lighting for the others it appears silveish at first
@@owenoreilly_20 Ohhhhhhh
that pull tab asmr tho
Fairly impressed with apple this year although tech wise its not a major jump it's so nice they finally did a good job on making the phones repairable again after like 6 years, also impressed with the Apple Watch ultra considering its actually durable.
Those were really well done ads. Very charming delivery
Always a pleasure to dive in tear down with Jerry👌🏾
Outside is the same, but the inside is fully revamped. A huge win for right to repair! Luckily they have coding boards available where you can export and import the OEM part info to a aftermarket one.
But if you swap to the cheaper display it will still be locked by the software?
"When will it end", is what I am thinking when Jerry started pull the rubber at 6:55 😆.
That pull tab asmr sounded amazing
You seem to be smiling more in this video, always do smile☺️
9:07 The speaker does have balls! They're hidden way inside the module, Apple has been doing balls inside speakers ever since the iphone 6s I believe.
💀
9:32 that's a remarkable assertion
15 screws for strength! The port might survive a few impacts with the cable plugged in
Apple finally deciding to make the back glass repairable is like me finally doing the chores. Still got a lot left tho..
It’s interesting to note though, as long as I’ve been repairing devices, I’ve never come across a faulty lightening port. Usually just filled with dust.
also the reason to not switch to usb c, a female connector with male cable is always more durable and cheaper to replace.
@@NutzerLive breaking is just 1 advantage of lightning compared to usb c which had a lot more advantage.
I don't think anyone would disagree that lightning ports are ridiculously durable. The male end is just a slab of steel. USB micro B and C both have that wafer thin center male contact that's not at all durable.
Why are these videos so relaxing
