This video has got to be the most polite middle finger to anyone ever, let alone a billion dollar company. Godspeed Jerry
It's informing us of the copyright infringement, and also a 13 minute ad for D-Brand's cases. Win-win.
His name is Zach
You don’t become a billion dollar company without screwing people over
I mean he did throw one down at 5:01 😂
I don't see this as a middle finger to everyone ever existed.
It's insane how many small businesses i discovered via social media have reported the same thing happening to them. I feel for you!
Most people unfortunately don’t care about ip theft so long as they’re benefiting.

I’m glad you’re taking them to court. Too many people let big corporations do what they want and have a mind set that they can’t do anything about it. I really hope it all works out In your favor.
How about when the US Federal government does the same thing? Can you sue them? But that will be after you have gone to jail.
You explained this situation pretty well in my opinion. I'm sorry you have to go through all this, but I'm glad to see you're putting your foot down.

Such a solid case
After watching this video, it is evident that Casetify will experience a significant surge in traffic on website , and some of these visitors may convert into sales. I suspect that there might be a secret collaboration between D-Brand, Jerry, and Casetify.
Upon viewing the video, I promptly visited Casetify's website and ordered two cases.
As an IP attorney I find this hilarious!!! The complaint practically writes itself. Love how they didn’t realize Easter eggs weren’t actually on the devices. Also, the forensic work you and Dbrand did to prove this up is most excellent!!
I’ve never been tempted to buy Dbrand but I just purchased a few of these. Fight the good fight!
They noticed some of the obvious ones which according Zack & I'm betting those were purposely placed & made obvious to throw off any would be thieves of the hidden ones.
kind of makes you wonder why there is nothing on the docket ...
I'm not an IP attorney, but I guess the fact that they tried to replace some of the Easter eggs could weigh in the balance to prove they knew they are copying and stole dbrand/JRE designs.
Summary judgement win in the future
I’m proud of you for following through with this. So many other companies have done the same thing with small business products. Thank you for every effort.
I didn't intend to watch the whole video or subscribe but something about the professional way you conduct yourself and still say witty lines drew me in. Thinking about buying your device cases now because they look so cool

I doubt this will ever even make it to trial. There's just too much evidence against them. Odds are they'll want to settle or the judge will just call it. When that happens, you should take a scan of the summary judgment and make a phone skin out of it.

You know you're good when people try to copy and still fail ❤ you're awesome!!
I’ve been watching since your inception of this channel. You do amazing work. Take ‘em to the bank.
Seems like an open and shut case to me. That was ingenious to put easter eggs on them so obscure that no one would be able to tell.
Reminds me of the special Semi collins some of the Lyric websites used to catch Google copying their shit of Google old Lyric search feature they had.
This is part of the reason why I love inside jokes and easter eggs in products. It's also a fingerprint. I know in the auto industry there's a growing trend to add them to windshields and official parts so that way owners can also spot aftermarket replacement parts.
@scott8919 Toyota has an etched 2D(an industrial version of a QR code) on all their parts that, internally, can tell you who touch that part practically every step of the manufacturing process.
Google has streets, towns, mountains etc added to prevent direct copies for this exact reason
old paper map companies used to add phantom streets so they could call out their competitors for stealing their maps, exactly the same way DBrand figured this one out.
"Theft is theft and thieves steal" should be your new easter egg from now on.
Lol
Imagine, them copying that as well
"Theft is theft and thieves thieve"
Great work as always. Big respect to you and I'll check out that clean X-Ray Steam Deck skin!

Hopefully Casetify just settles the lawsuit quickly, because it’s hard to even imagine a more clear-cut case of design theft than when they’re selling dozens of products that are obviously filled with what amounts to another company’s watermarks. They’d be best served to put this behind themselves as quickly as possible.
They'll just settle out of court
I can think of one potential defense.
@@LucasJRice there is no legit way to defend this, they will win this lawsuit. With the easter eggs they added, its very easy to prove they copy pasted the work.
if he settles it out of court then they won’t stop doing it.
@@KS-vo3hf That's probably not true. A settlement in a situation like this would general include conditions of removal of all stolen intellectual property. Truly fascinating! Good luck on the lawsuit.
Map makers used to call this a trap street. They would add an imaginary street into their maps and if the map was copied illegally, they would have copied the trap street as well. Similar to the signature easter eggs you included in your designs. Great work!
When Google Maps used to rely on TeleAtlas data, they got hit by this (TeleAtlas, and therefore, Google); several map companies had their data illegally copied by TA and then used by Google. Google always took action when notified, but still...
Map makers and dictionary publishers have all done this in the past. Any time the data set is too big to manually verify it's done to trap those that copy... Long may it continue I say...
This is so interesting to me cuz ive never heard of trap streets but i HAVE heard of something called "Paper Towns" which basically have the exact same function!
Not all map makers actually, those works with government are obligated to never ever make any change than what's in the real world.
I worked with the Dutch government on mapping streets. When suddenly we had a suspicion. So, we added some bikelines and paths that wouldn't disrupt your navigator, but would signal to us, that they used illegal data. And yep, we caught them. So, what was the issue? Public funded data cannot be used for commercial purposes. These companies were selling maps based on public funded data.
I had a clothing logo and designs stolen by an international clothing company which i had trade marked officially at the IPO . Unfortunately the legal costs always put the larger business at a massive advantage. As a small producer, I was unable to afford the legal costs to fight even though I had a high chance of winning. Even then, just trying to be amicable and get an acknowledgement or credit for the design, I was ignored. I’m 100% behind you Jerry, do it for the small guys.
Are you from the US? Your state Attorney General could help. I'm not saying they would take the case to court, but they have legal resources available.

I doubt it. Several of these Chinese companies steal most of their designs and product ideas. They will pay whatever it takes to make this one go away and move on to their next scam.
The one person who got fired is obviously not the main culprit but some unfortunate "new guy" as their black sheep.

Only in dystopian hellscapes where people have to pay for them, themselves. A functioning social safety net and a medical system will take care of that cost for you. I hear my "american" readers all chime in: "But i don't want to pay for someone elses health care"... Imagine what purchasing health insurance does.. It sure doesn't cover your health care for as long as you have to suffer heavy copays... What it actually does, is PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSES HEALTH CARE..

@@eidodk Yeah. Health insurance is done incorrectly here, you're completely correct. But I also don't want to pay for anyone else's healthcare. Before Obamacare, the only thing that was tough to get was surgery. But at least you weren't taking out what student loans are for that.
@@StephenFasciani You're part of the problem though. The notion of "not wanting to pay for someone elses healthcare" is exactly what's wrong with the US. That's the quintessential idea of what taxes are for - SERVICES RENDERED TO THE PEOPLE PAID FOR BY THE PEOPLE. The US is such a fearful place, you spend the taxes on the millitary instead.
The best evidence for it being a fearful place, is that homeowners thinks they need guns to protect themselves - That is ONLY an issue in places where the country is at war with itself.
The problem was NEVER the hospitals, it was the insurance companies. The "free competition" between insurance companies is what has created the hellscape. It's now an insurance INDUSTRY, with billions and other billions of revenue for stock holders. A state controlled health industry would be a zero sum industry, in which the ONLY thing that is necessary, is to balance the budgets. If $10 goes out, $10 has to go in.
Until your country starts thinking more like a group, than a country of individuals, it will only get worse.

Many of them aren't in the position to launch a lawsuit, so they get away with it, basically.
By what I said earlier I did not mean the cases but the corporations.
What you've done with those easter eggs is actually an extremely old form of copyright protection. Map makers used to intentionally do the same thing in their maps to stop rival map makers from copying them and could take them to court and point out those same easter eggs. Kinda cool! It theoretically SHOULD still work in your own defense I think..
Programmers will do the same thing with their code, too. Companies will sometimes ask for a demo of a program and copy it to avoid paying the programmer, so including an Easter egg like that is a great way to win a lawsuit.
That is very interesting. Yeah since no ones gonna make the exact same, it makes it very original. I got to remember this xD

That's what easter eggs have always been for from the beginning of art, it amazes me that fanboys and girls think they are for them like some kind of inside joke they're in on.
😭😭😭😭😭😭I'm crying because I wanted to give this video 5+ likes I just cant!
ama turn my notifications on. I love the work you put it Jerr keep going on hard!
Go get em Jerry = I didn’t know anything about these teardown skins super cool
Never owned a Casetify case and never used them as a sponsor on our channel. What stores are their cases sold in? I’d like to stop shopping there until their cases are removed from shelves.
They have their own stores that look exactly like Best Buy.
From what I've seen it's mostly online
They are sold online I know that and I know they are also on Amazon btw
W move
Hahaha! You should not go to China or India or Hong Kong either... Because local companies are selling both of their cases for like 60% discounts... You guys are fighting in USA lol we are getting the same for very less
Not a subscriber and no idea why the algorithm showed this to me… but your cases are amazing and I’m sorry to hear you’re being ripped off! Go get’em!!
Same
Same.
Sadly, I think the society doesn't care if the product is stolen or not. There are lots of videos supporting buying fake Samsung/Apple/.... without caring that they just supported stealing 10000 hours of work.
I encourage you to watch some of his tear down videos. I was recommended of the iPhone 15 one recently and was genuinely surprised of the quality in his work and videos. Truly an amazing channel.
It's a sticker, not a case.
They copied a sticker.
You can take a picture of the inside of your phone, print it on a sticker background and you've stolen his product 😄
@@Been.Here.Since.2007
Wrong, JerryRig and Dbrand own the rights to "their exact image" that they created. If you take a pic with your phone it's not the same image. Just an image of the same product. He literally explained and showed how they are exact copies, just of terrible quality.
Jerry, you are absolutely right to sue this crooked company.
Damn bro, thats so frustrating. easter eggs coming in clutch though.
Whatever lawyer suggested that you add the Easter eggs really earned their retainer. This technique is exactly what map publishers do-they add a little town here, add a street there, to prove copyright violations. Go get them, Zach!
This is actually something older than you expect. Maps used to do it add an extra town here and there that doesn't exist) so anyone that copies would tell on themselves. Phone Books also did the same - adding people and numbers that don't exist - for much the same reason.
@@Gulyus How odd, for you to reply to my comment with exactly the same point that I made. Are you doing some kind of weird meta-plagiarism due to the subject matter?
@@victor-charlesscafatiit’s not the same point - you said that map publishers DO that kind of stuff, he said they USED to do it long before. And he also added phone book case (pun intended). So you are trying to be funny but you’re not :)
@@victor-charlesscafatino you're just misreading lmao
@@victor-charlesscafati chill dude
Zach seems like a super nice guy and a chill dude who turns into the most calculating person who would ruin your entire livelihood if you did something like this to him.
Now you know why dBrand referenced Hitman. The layers to that one simple statement are very deep.
This is the first time I realized his name is not Jerry. :D
Fear the quiet nice guy. He will destroy your world, and have you thanking him for it.
demons run when a good man goes to war
“Don’t right click my stuff” put it on a shirt! I love it!
Just ordered a DBrand Pixel 7 Teardown grip case. Can't wait!
Something about Zack's calm nature, thoroughness of the degree of theft verification, and expression of his principles makes this video even better. Take it deep, billion dollar bullies.
It's honestly a bit scary. Just sayin'.
@@_mnejingright? The part where he suits up and grabs his shotgun to go drive to Casetify HQ was obviously cut off the end of the vid.
Jerry also teaches a secret lesson:
If you're going to create something, add a very small, almost unnoticeable touch to it, in case you need to have a case. Brilliant.
Put something in the case just in case you need to have a case involving another case.
Case closed! 😄
Point in case
Like the fake map locations cartographers used too put in for the same reason
Yes! imagine being stupid enough to steal an image and not edit those parts out. they are toast.
The fact that he stays calm throughout the entire of the clip just shows the integrity of this man. If that were me, I would have gotten angry in the first 20 seconds of the clip😂
Because he's already rich?
Wow! I sure hope you and Dbrand get every penny they have made from tour hard work!
It's so funny and satisfying that they were caught red-handed because of the easter eggs you left in your designs. I thought these things only happened in movies lol
It's a Chinese company, they do this all the time lol
Oh, so it's a Chinese company. It kinda makes all sense now
its a common thing to do in maps with ghost streets too lol
Do the XRays have Easter eggs?
Casetify finally got what was coming to them. All these years of easter eggs adding up to proof of stealing is insane.
nothing will happen to them. This is so common in China manufacturing its accepted practice there.
@@zack9912000you say nothing will happen, but Jerry Rig has a massive online following, and this news will spread like wildfire, so even if Castify don’t lose in court, they will lose their entire reputation and brand image will be destroyed. That will be a death sentence for the company
@@zack9912000 yeah they will just pay few millions and keep doing it , its same with their mobile games its worth it to pay millions in lawsuits and keep your game up and just change the name than to stop stealing and invest yourself .
@@Tetrathegod or they’ll “go out of business” and suddenly reappear with a different name, rinse and repeat
Even if whatever they have to pay is a slap in the wrist's worth and they keep doing it, their product is still too low quality to really compete and the money is going to help Not A Wheelchair and get a bunch of people free wheelchairs.
'5:03' got me cryin ! lolol
"Mom my middle finger wont go down>> how do i wave???" lolololol 🔥🔥🔥
100% proved they stole, embarrassed them, announced lawsuit, AND dropped a new product knowing this would go viral. BOSS. LEVEL. MOVES.
Also casetify took down the inside out brand that they were touting.
I was so worried you actually got robbed. Glad you are physically ok.
jerry he is agent 47 how likely would he get robbed? 🤣

I mean look at Jerry, do you think anyone. DARES to rob this guy face to face? 💪
Safer then, to sit thousands of kilometers away, and right-clicking images to steal them… 😄
I was like no! the hummer!!
F*ck robs a guy that look like he is about to snap your neck while giving a calm quote like "Bone is bone and bones break"
