Anyone reading, eating, drinking and consuming words in the Bible will catch things that has been taught as seen from an organizations interpretation and will have questions. Churches will skip over things the preacher knows don't add up but he never tried to better understand what is said and continues teaching what he's been told to teach. Calling out my preacher, who has no problem being called father, on a few things in the Bible I was not too welcome back to that church. For years I felt I was wrong for questioning several parts in the Bible. Thankfully I came across Dr Heiser. Now I know I was questioning things that should've been and now things make much more sense. I no longer feel I'm going to be condemned for questioning things

@@AWKNGInc Your teachng on Psalm 82 and this Dvine Council of non human/angles is 100% FALSE, Jesus answers the question. STOP promoting this nonsense and throwing Jesus under the bus with this man centered teaching of Heiser.
When a person read it in the original Hebrew, and you will see the difference between Yahweh as Elohim above all Elohim and the council itself as a lower classification of elohim.
Jesus answers the lower classification of elohim (gods) in John 10: 34 35.
Asaph the Prophet writes Psalm 82: 1 "God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: Psalm 82:6 - “I said, you are gods.”
John the Disciple/Apsotle writes Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
The lower class of elohim (gods) in Psalm 82 are human NOT non human/angels
WHY because the word of the Lord came to Prophets, God Spoke thru Prophets to the nation of Israel/Jews (Human). The Jews were also given the Law and had the Prophets. @@AWKNGInc Heiser sure loves his goofy theory of the divine council, he gets this nonsense from Psalm 82. Heiser NEVER explains the "Job Description" of prophets in the Old Testament. Most people are even unaware of who wrote Psalm 82. Asaph the prophet wrote Psam 82 as well as other Psalms 50, 73-81 and 83.
Asaph the Prophet writes ESV Psalm 82: 1 "God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: Psalm 82:6 - “I said, you are gods.”
Hebrew word for God is Elohim, when a person read it in the original Hebrew, and you will see the difference between Yahweh as God/Elohim above all Elohim and the council itself as a lower classification of gods/elohim.
Jesus answers the lower classification of elohim (gods) in John 10: 34 35.

The lower class of elohim (gods) in Psalm 82 are human NOT non human/angels like Heiser promotes.
WHY because the word of the Lord came to Prophets, God Spoke thru Prophets to the nation of Israel/Jews (Human). The Jews were also given the Law and had the Prophets. NO nonhuman/angel is ever referred to as a Prophet in scripture or were given the Law, Of course angels are messengers in scripture, but that is it.

How God takes His place in the divine council is by the Prophet Asaph who wrote Psalm 82 and by the Law which was given to the Nation of Israel. What is KEY is that a Prophet of God like Asaph carried and handled the words of the Lord God, this is the "Job Description" of a prophet in the Old Testament.
Prophets were the VOICE of God that is why it is IMPORTANT that Jesus Repeats and Fulfills these words...... Psalm 82:6 - “I said, you are gods.” ........John 10: 34-35 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),"
Notice there is a lot happening with the words Jesus uses John 10
      1. Verse 34, Jesus says....... "Is it not written in your law">>>>>This tells us that Jesus is addressing Humans (Pharisees/Rulers/Jews) in John 10. The Jews/nation of Israel was given the Law, which would be the Law of Moses found in the Old Testament.
      2. Verse 34, Jesus says...... "I said" "You are gods". What the "I said" is, is a declaration of Jesus as God. The "I said" is not different than an "I am" declaration", Jesus is God and is the Son of God. Another point with the "I said" of Jesus is that He is REPEATING this from the Old Testament which is found in Psalm 82, this is not just a mere qoute of Jesus, but an REPEAT of what God spoke thru the prophet Asaph........... Psalm 82: 1 "God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: Psalm 82:6 - “I said, you are gods.”
Since Jesus is God and is addressing HUMANS in John 10 and is REPEATING what God said when He spoke thru the prophet Asaph in Psalm 82, that means the "gods/elohim" in Psalm 82 are also HUMAN (Judges.Rulers.Jews), Jesus Literally answers the question of the "gods/elohim" in Psalm 82.
NOTE: ESV uses "divine council" other translations use "congregation of the mighty" or "great assembly", this is HUMAN.
      3. Verse 35. "If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),"....Here again "gods" is used which refer to Humans (Judges/Pharisees/Rulers/Jews). Notice the text also says..."to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), This again goes back to the Old Testament, because God would speak thru prophets in the Old Testament, like Asaph who wrote Psalm 82. Asaph was the "Voice" of God to the Jews, like all prophets in the Old Testament are the "Voice" of God.
      4. So when a person puts the "gods/elohim" in Psalm 82 and who God is adresseing thru the prophet Asaph>>>>>>>Psalm 82: 1 "God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: Psalm 82:6 - “I said, you are gods.”
Now you apply Jesus and the "gods" He is adressing in John 10>>>>>>>John 10: 34-35 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),"...........A person can CLEARLY see that the "gods/elohim" are HUMAN in both Psalm 82 and John 10.
God Inspires and Lifts up Prophets in the Old Testament so Jesus can FULFILL what is written and spoken in the Old Testament Fulfilled by Jesus in the New Testament. Jesus holds the answer of the "gods" (lower class elohim/gods), they are human in both Psalm 82 and John 10.
What Heiser does is that he opposes Jesus in trying to answer the question on who the gods/elohim are in Psalm 82. Heiser throughs Jesus under the bus on his explantion of Psalm 82. Heiser is a blind teacher teaching in darkness, without the Light of Christ, Jesus tells us in scripture on who these "gods/elohim" are, long before Heiser even walked this earth. Just let the prophet Asaph be the "Voice" of God so Jesus can repeat and fulfill what was spoken and written in the Old Testament. Even Isaiah the prophet who wrote Isaiah 53 was the "Voice" of God in the Old Testament, so Jesus can Fulfill what was said in Isaiah 53.....Isaiah 53 is about the Crucifixion of Christ.
Aslo Psalm 89 has NOTHING to do with Psalm 82. Hieser likes to mix those chapters together.

NO nonhuman/angel is ever referred to as a Prophet in scripture or were given the Law, Of course angels are messengers in scripture, but that is it.
The Law and Holy Scriptures were given to the nation of Israel/Jews NOT to non humans/angels. How God takes His place in the divine council is by the Prophet Asaph who wrote Psalm 82 and by the Law which was given to the Nation of Israel. What is KEY is that a Prophet of God like Asaph carried and handled the words of the Lord God, Prophets were the VOICE of God that is why it is IMPORTANT that Jesus fulfills these words...... Psalm 82:6 - “I said, you are gods.” ........Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),

Even common sense tells us that NO book in scripture is named after a non human being or an angel. The Lord God is in a Covenant relationship with MAN, NOT non human beings or angels. God lifts up Prophets in the OT so Jesus can FULFILL what is written and spoken in the OT Fulfilled by Jesus in the NT. Jesus holds the answer of the "gods" (lower class elohim/gods), they are human in both Psalm 82 and John 10.

@51:00-ish I'd say this is where a multiverse concept could be inserted. God can foreknow EVERY one of SEVERAL outcomes to any given situation (there could be trillions upon trillions) and have each one "predestined" to have the outcome most favorable to Him, in each one. It's still 'predestination', it's still within the plan of His will, but Man can not know it. Therefore, this insures Man's trust in the Most High. The only choice we get is to choose which path to take, but all of them, ultimately, inevitably will lead to HIS Sovereign will. 😉

    • @ShadowofTheAlmighty
      @ShadowofTheAlmighty Před 3 měsíci

To add to that, I'd say there are 2 types of His will: He has a Sovereign will thar Man cannot resist, and an allowable will that doesn't effect the outcome of something either way.
Ex: is you will go get yogurt at precisely 5:03pm on Jun25th, 2009 at the Froyo down the road. This is a precise time, location and objective that meets a higher, more purposeful objective, which is that you meet your wife at that exact spot, at that exact time. This is what Man cannot resist because he cannot foreknow it. (Sometimes grace is given here, for some foreknowing; dreams, visions, etc.)
is which flavor of ice cream you pick. This choice can be either yours alone, or of Gods design, but it doesn't effect His plans in the least. He could really care less what flavor you pick, but He set an appt for you to meet your wife at that place and time, and because He has a whole generational history planned from your union, you'd better believe that He keeps His appts, EVERY SINGLE TIME!😉

Of course knowledge of what could happen, all possible outcomes, is not predestination. David asked if he should go and rescue the city of Keilah. God did not tell him what would happen after they defeated the Philistines. I think if anything this demonstrates we need to be in communion more with God through scripture and prayer. David and his men knew they were safe in Judah but lingered in Keilah instead of returning once they had defeated the Philistines. God has a plan and it leaves a lot of wiggle room for the actions of mankind, but God's plan will not be thwarted by anyone (spirit or man).

I think he might have meant that the attributes of humankind (though not exclusive to us) are still necessary for carrying out the imaging vocation.

The Garden of Eden is within the fields and the field are within the earth or wilderness.. The tree of Life is a nucleus in the midst of the garden and there is a clue that this is the God dimension. There are trees that suffice as books. You can eat and know. There is a rule handed down to Eve with questionable language. OF the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shal not eat OF IT. The last "of it is redundant. Once the idea is planted in your mind that you can eat, that last word takes on meaning. M'meneh might refer to the small measure of a hand. Like a handbasket or a handful. So then you mustn't eat by measure, but eat the whole thing (like the passover lamb.) Or maybe it means "by hand." I'm not supposed to touch it? I recall Daniel translating mene mene as referencing the small measure. "Weighing youve been weighed." The serpent has introduced a doctrine and itvseems reasonable. Step by step the first family is moved away from the presence of God where they had been able to walk and talk with God. These areas are the courts of the kingdom of God. He calls us to take the journey home. Every leg is offered freely in Christ. In the outer court we wrap the towel around our loins and its like the entry level or mailroom. Remember that our goal is "to seek his face" which is covered, now, by the wings of cherubim. There are several anaologies of the kingdom. Our robes get longer, the vegetation on the moutain goes from bushes at the bottom to a bald spot at the peak. There is heaven, heavens (the two together,) the heaven of heavens and the most high heaven (where you meet the most high God.) The pit of Hell is an opposite, but let's not talk zbout that. The journey has four portions and the last will return you to the first, like a chord in music. After an initial fear there is, wisdom and understanding, counsel and might, knowledge and fear and to breathe in the being of God. I think it was Uzza who had taken six steps, but could not touch the ark with its mercy seat. The 8th makes a chord and the last note is the same as the first. The 8th makes you many things as מנץח. I hope I've spelled that correctly. This is the master musician. The root word is "new wine," the abiliry to "pass on" like Peter, the ability to "outrun" like a certain disciples. Victory and miracles are a real possibility. But most of all, God has received you home.

I wish I could talk with Heiser. I can make an argument that we are as "spiritual" a creature as a cherub, and it is as physical as we are. The cherub HAS A BODY. It has fire, edges (aka wings) which are physics-al and that so powerfully affect molecules & atoms of oxygen, nitrogen, etc that It sounds like a tumult and running water. Lightning is the flow of electrons on a physical (not a spiritual) pathway at 200,000mph. So it travels distance. Distance is a measure & function of travel in a physical, not necessarily a spiritual universe. Sound is physics, not necessarily spiritual. I would point out that many conflate invisibilty with being a spiritual entity. But humans can now see into invisible realms like infrared, ultraviolet, microwaves, hard & soft Xrays, radio/maser, EM frequencies invisible to us until recently. Humans have developed rudimentary invisibility. We could likely "see" the sidereal army at Dothan with night vision or thermographic tools. We can locte emitters of deadly cosmic rays. We have discovered cold fire. It's real fire that doesnt burn what it touches (Moses at the burning bush?). It has hot electrons, but a cold nucleus, or vs vs. We can freeze light in its path. We can now make some things invisible. We put microwave communication devices in our pockets. Radio reflections to see invisible UFO's, or far away objects. We understand earth is in heaven. So where do the spirits of the dead go? I have found no biblical support for a multiverse. Invisibility gets conflated with spiritual & multidimensional. I dont think there is a practical difference. I would probably feint worse than John or Daniel at the appearance of a sidereal. But the ancients understood things differently, BUT PERHAPS WRONGLY! They had no idea of the EM spectrum sidereals can use. Earther humans are dirtbags sotospeak. We are made of atoms, electricity, molecules, have fire in our cells much like cherubim who must have atoms, as they have fire, or more correctly plasma & lightning. Our cells are little furnaces that I've heard explained as atomic or subatomic fire. We have electricity like a cherub. Though there's is orders of magnitude greater. Jacob held onto & wrestled with a sidereal who could not escape his physical grip overnight. Gabriel was held prisoner 3 weeks. Gabriel's presence sucked power from Daniel's cells. Apostle John similar effect when with glorified Jesus. Jesus described Himself as flesh & blood after His resurrection. Jesus still has the pierce-mark on His glorified body. Those things are physical not necessarily spiritual, but physics-al. A bodied cherub has a "spirit" that rides in those gyroscopic-like whirling wheels. Eyes all over. Eyes are sensors. Due to the physics God used to build this UNI-verse a cherub would need great sensor vision, and stability which could explain the gyroscopic-like giant wheels & eyes/sensors. Travelling 200,000mph in air making a god-aweful (literally a tumult) noise is physical, not spiritual it seems obvious to me. The seraphim of Is 6 had apparent bass voices that stimulated atoms in AIR (again physical) shaking the very physical door threshhold of God's throne room. There are many such examples of physical bodies and/or manifestations sometimes invisible, recorded in the bible. God does NOT drive a flying saucer, but a cherub is a physical creature seemingly of plasma or photons/waves that is /or can be in the visible EM spectrum. It has physics-al impact causing tornados, lightning (electrons- which our dirt bodies also have) following a pathway through the physics-al atoms of air. Their wings (likely not bird wings, compare with the angels with stork wings. I call it angels because it carried a message, as well as a whore. The description says its wings were catching air, as opposed to the "wings" of a cherub which are NOT said to fly by catching air, though they create a sound more like helicopter "edges" or rotors. The same word could be translated "edge", which would likely make the kind of tumult in air that might stir up a whirlwind/tornado or tempest. Moving at any of a double- tangent 360° direction at 200,000mph might power up a tornado. We have already built Free Electron LASERs of half megawatt power, feeding a "wiggler" to straighten the beam, to which the electron energy is converted to photon energy. It slices through 40" of steel every second. Petawatt energy levels already achieved in microbursts will make weapons of almost unimaginable power, but still only a small fration of the power a cherub would manifest in making a tornado. The cherub is obviously physical, having a body, AND a "spirit" in the gyroscopic-like (stability needs are great at lightning speeds) wheels, as are sensors/eyes. Careening out-of-control off at 200,000mph would be problematic at the least. Does Heiser provide any distinctions to fix my physical/spiritual conflations?

Dr. Heiser, if l were an unbeliever of Christ, am I still a representative of God? Or am l still in the image of God?
I can say, in that condition of being unbeliever, that I don't have image of God. When Adam ate the fruit, he had lost the image of God. He no longer represented God and no longer allowed to live in the presence of God in the garden.
So then why does the world claim that man are still in the image of God, irrespective of believing or unbelieving in God?
Hope that you would read this and help to clarified this world view that we are still in the image of God, as representative, when we have been removed from that role. Appreciated in advance.

In the Hebrew in Psalm 82 angels/spirit beings isn't mentioned only "the gods" and "the congregation", the second term being what Heiser (and most other scholars) take as "council", and "the sons of the Most High". What a person has to do is figure out who "the gods" and "the congregation" are. Asaph is the author and the one who wrote the Psalm under the inspiration of God almighty Himself. God would communicate through prophets in the OT.
Where a peson like Heiser failed is he could not figure out who the gods/elohim are, he never looked to Jesus. Because Jesus already settled this in scripture.
Luke 24:44, Jesus speaking "Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
Psalm 82 would be included with this when you look at John 10
Psalm 82:6 I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you;>>>>>Jacob's decendents (Israel) humans being addressed
John 10: 34-35 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),">>>>>Jacob's decendents (Israel) humans being addressed.
This would also apply to Psalm 82:1 "God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:>>>other translations say great assembly or
congregation of the mighty, This divine coucil, great assemply and congregation of the mighty who are the gods/elohim would sing the Psalms and would gather for temple worship, so the gods/elohim would be Israel (Jacobs decendents). The presence of God was in the Temple. Israel was God's chosen people in that time period.
Plus Heiser's so called divine council of nonhuman/angels (gods/elohim) never had temple worship, sang the Psalms, never had the law of Moses, word of the Lord never came to them, and God would communicate to Israel through prophets like Asaph and other prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, minor prophets...ect.). When Asaph wrote this Psalm, he was inspired by God for this to be sung in the Temple, of course Solomon's Temple.
Another Point>>>> Verse 34, Jesus says...... "I said" "You are gods". What the "I said" is, is a declaration of Jesus as God. The "I said" is no different than an "I am" declaration", Jesus is God and is the Son of God. Another point with the "I said" of Jesus is that He is REPEATING this from the Old Testament which is found in Psalm 82, this is not just a mere qoute of Jesus, but an REPEAT of what God spoke thru the prophet Asaph........... Psalm 82: 1 "God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: Psalm 82:6 - “I said, you are gods.” Where God took His place was in the Temple, sacrifices were also offered in the Temple, Israel had a Levitical priesthood with a high priest. Even with the tabernacle God's presence was a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. The "I am" declarations" were directed towards humans, so is the "I said" used towards humans, this is referring to Israel (Jacob's decendents).
Since Jesus (Son) is God and is addressing HUMANS in John 10 and is REPEATING what God (Father) said when He spoke and communicated thru the prophet Asaph in Psalm 82, that means the "gods/elohim" in Psalm 82 are also HUMAN (Judges.Rulers.Jews), Jesus Literally answers the question of the "gods/elohim" of Psalm 82 in John 10, Jesus is the fulfillment.
This points to the Trintiy as One, the Trinity is One and the Same God made up of THREE persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In this part of scripture are Two persons of God, the Father and the Son.
That is why you Pair up " I said, “You are gods" in Psalm 82:6 and John 10:34. In this case this is about 2 persons of the Trintiy (Father and Son) both God. A few verses before Jesus says to His audience is John 10:30 "I and the Father are one."
Luke 24:44, makes more sense, Jesus if the fulfillment "Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
This is where Heiser failed, Heiser was a blind guide, Jesus already answered this in scripture.

So God gave humans His image and then held them accountable for the evil that resulted from beings that were not sufficient to handle the image? That's like giving a 5 year old a loaded AR-15 in a group of people with a full clip and no safety and then blaming the 5 year old for the deaths and injuries that follow.
