Just from the toast test, Traeger. I don't need to see anything else. (But I do appreciate the thoroughness!)
Great video as always! You covered all the bases! I think that consistent heating is a high priority for me ( I cooked in a restaurant for more than 10 years and took that for granted). Grease management was a trough across the whole front, so i was very used to having the hashbrowns on the far left, bacon and meats in the center, pancakes and french toast on the right. Eggs were cooked in pans on burners to the left of the griddle so no on griddle eggs. I like how you went into detail down to how you pick up the food…. I didn’t even think of that but i always picked up side to side(mostly right to left being right handed). Thanks again for the great videos!
Absolutely same experience...eggs were on the griddle though...Grease and food preparation same...thanks for commenting..
This was a great video, much needed for those of us still on the fence. I gotta say, though, the bread test has got me leaning more towards the Traeger now. We appreciate all that you do!
Hey I appreciate that..
This was a very interesting and informative video. I have two Blackstones. A 28", that was my first griddle. I didn't buy a 36" because I wanted to take it to family camping trips (where I cook for about 20). I now have a 22" that lives in the RV and my daughter has a 22" so now the 28" can stay at home. It seems that I am always learning something new when I try to cook. Watching you and others has helped me improve my cooking skills. There is something very satisfying about cooking for folks. Thanks for sharing!
Really nice to hear Mike...thanks for the kind words...
Totally a griddle top noob with a Blackstone. This video has been awesome I now fully understand what the others I was watching ment when mentioning "zone cooking"! Your little bread thing there has opened my eyes to where I may have been going awry thanks a bunch. YOU'RE fantastic at this CZcams thing keep up the great content!
Well Corissa I truly appreciate that...really do...
Thanks for the comparison video Neal - And the bread reveal was eye opening ! Like a lot of your viewers I found your channel AFTER I purchased my flat top, so ignorance is bliss until you showed the comparative items of each manufacturer. And yes my Blackstone does heat unevenly, but like you said - you get used to how it performs and work with it. I will most likely be getting another flat top and giving my Blackstone to a relative. Now which one do I like is the question .
I really want to try out the HALO...but its 1,000...so maybe later this year
What a great review. You covered everything we needed to know except maybe warranty. I bought the 22" Adventure Ready Blackstone on Black Friday 2022. I will need to check the griddle surface temps but it does appear to be very low on the edges and very high in the middle. I am going to try the bread test for sure. That was awesome.
I like how how wife knows just when to comment so we don't miss anything. I know it is hard when you are giving the presentation not to forget something. Great job to her as well.
I like how you pointed out that you can cook at the low setting on the knobs. I seem to rush to get the top hot. This was great!
Thanks Paul...you are correct...I am Definitely not the smartest...and things like this get lost so easy...she Definitely does a good job...
Excellent review. I'm looking at getting into the griddle game and this helps me decide if I want to and which to go with.
Awesome Alvin...reach out if we can help
Thank You for the Video! We just bought our 1st Griddle and it was the Weber to match our Weber Silver back from 2002, which is still kicking! Hopefully, this will work for us!
thanks for videos, watched some of the video about the webber before buying. finally got it and seasoned 4coats of oil. ( used a bbq torch to seal the corner ( to help about the colder spots on the bottom, to have the perfect seal evenly. )) Cooked some eggs and it turned out perfectly without oil... so thanks again for the trick and tips about griddles.
Man that does sound like a great outcome...great job...
First video I've seen of yours and man this is the best review of any product I've ever come across. Amazing work! Got a new subscriber
Realize appreciate that…
I’ve learned my blackstone! I’ve had it over 2 yrs
Yes they have tons of accessories. It has held up and that’s a big thing with me!! I feel like I’m getting my money worth out of it!! Keep up the great video’s!!!!
Absolutely.....thanks for commenting
This is why I subscribed to your channel, excellent testing and information. Please continue being you.
Thanks, will do!
You have helped me so much! Recently bought the cheap version of 36 inch Blackstone and having so much fun! Where the Grandkids used to make me take em to Dennys cuz they knew I couldn't cook. Now they are here every Sunday Morning for My Griddle! Makin Breakfast every weekend and without a million pans to wash. I watched to many of ur videos to count. But I learned so much. Not only how to griddle but how to cook in general. Thank you for you Military service and thank you VERY MUCH for showing me the griddle Idea and teaching me to be successful! I;m only 5 or six weeks since I bought it but havn't burned anything or had anything stick. And everyone telling me how Great I cook has been quite Humbling! Thanks again Brother! The smiles on the kids face when I hand them a plate makes me feel like a king! Not trying to snatch up ur logo lol just sayin.
First...thank you...Man thats awesome...thats honestly what its about...the smiles and feeling.....
I'm a Blackstone user for 2 years.
Neil, you are the best teacher on the net! This video is better than anybody has ever done. The idea of bread is ingeneous!!!!
This review should go viral.
Thanks, I want to comment further later.
Well I appreciate that..really do...I try to relate to the average person...Thats how I view myself...just a normal dude...I try to imagine what I am looking for when I purchase big ticket items
Thank you so much for the longer informations! 😁 Great video 🙏
Absolutely....thank you
Great information. That bread test illustrates the variance really well👍😊
Thanks Bobbi..
Great video! I have a Blackstone and use it a few times per week. I think of it almost as cooking in a wok. Hot searing heat in the center, cooler zones around the edges. When I cook eggs I usually turn the burners off and they cook fine on the residual heat. When cooking a lot of burgers I generally shift them to a different zone when flipping them to get a more evenly timed cook. I also lift the hot zone food off the griddle first. Once you've gotten used to whichever griddle you have I believe they all work pretty good...but I definitely like having the higher heat so the weber probably wouldn't be right for me.
Great job adjusting...just to be clear...the weber hits the high heat..its just thinner so it does not hold as well..by moving the food around like you mentioned fixes that immediately
Excellent video and explanation of the griddles. I sort of wish I had seen this 5 or 6 years ago? Oh well, better prepared today. Thanks Neil!!!
Thanks Chas...
Those griddles in the comparison did not exist 5 or 6 years ago.
BREAD test ! ! ! Genous, leave it to the "Bread Guy" to find another way to save and use the stale bread. AND.......... the best test of heat distribution I have ever seen.
hahahahah Ya know it when you see it....
Wow yes, was going to buy a Blackstone but that uneveness would drive me nuts
You are definitely the flat top king. Awesome comparison video! This video will help so many people
Well I appreciate that Denny
The bread test was great. Worth subscribing to your channel. Thx
Fantastic review. I love my Blackstone. Only been using it for a couple weeks but it’s awesome to cook with.
Good to hear! Definitely some good ones out there
Thanks for giving the information about the different griddle’s. The trawler griddle seemed better to me though.
Great comparisons! One factor on the variance of the Blackstone: The cooler zones could be helpful because even on low the temps get high on all three brands. At least you have some cooler zones for eggs and keeping food hot once it's done. Just a thought. (I don't yet own any of these, btw.)
Guys thanks for showing the heat comparison. That kinda sealed the deal for me with the Weber. I can easily fix all the other cons but id rather not mess with burners if I dont have to. I can pretty easily change the shelves & add wind breaks. I seasoned it tonight & will be cooking tomorrow night on it.
Hey its a great griddle for sure....do doubt....top 2 for sure
Great video. I wish I'd discovered your channel before I bought mine. On the bright side, thanks in large part to your style of instruction, I was able to cook eggs without them sticking for the first time tonight.
Awesome, thank you...reach out if we can help
I'm about to buy my first griddle - this was VERY helpful - I just subscribed!
Thanks Randal...really appreciate the support
Excellent video! Thanks for your time!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review, glad I stayed with the Traeger but that new Blackstone was tempting.
This was a very good comparison video. I think you were impartial, and thorough. It seems that some people are being swayed by the single fact the Traeger griddle has a very even temp across it's surface. This a great thing if you are cooking the same item over the whole grill. I usually cook 2 -4 different things on my griddle. All needing different temps. I generally set all 4 burners on low and often turn one burner off to use as a "keep warm" section. I can then cook the protein at one temp, the veggies at another and if something needs extra time the section that has the burner off is still over 200 degrees, so I can slightly undercook something and let it finish in that section. Maybe I have just gotten used to the un-evenness of my griddle, but it makes the best food I have ever cooked.
Well...you kinda argued my whole point of even...IMO...if a griddle is even...then it allows you to control the temps you want...exactly like you just mentioned..BUT if a griddle is uneven...the griddle controls you...and your ability to cook what you want where you want and how much you want...
Neal!!! You are one of the best reviewers out here, I totally respect that. I am a Blackstone, die hard, and will always be. On that note, I do know my hot/cool zones. And know where to cook my food. My 36er is a first-generation stainless steel. I bought it for $100 brand new from Menards. You can't do that now, and it's still kickin azz. #blackstonenation. I love your channel, your cooks, and your reviews, so keep up the great work, my friend 👍
Hey I really appreciate that....thanks for the supprt
Thanks for doing this. We are just now starting to consider buying and I'm researching to see what's out there. We want to make the right choice for us and this helped a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
Same here. What did you get if anything? Thank you
great comparison sir. i just watched your chopped cheese sammi where you mentioned this video. its a great breakdown of the pros and cons of each. I have a 4 burner blackstone i bought years ago. it works well still but like you said, but it has hot spots. i also bought the aftermarket hood for it. i had thought about upgrading but it seems the same issues prevail with the new ones. i do like the blackstone in spite of its short comings. easy and bullet proof. Thanks for doing these side by sides. i think it helps a bunch. if i had to buy a new griddle, i might just have to check out the Traeger.
Yeah I love my Traeger....but in fairness the Weber is right behind it...
The "bread" technique is a good way to test the griddles hot zones. Very informative thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. I'm a STOK Tower and Weber charcoal guy who just bought my first griddle, a Blackstone 36" with hood and I'm getting ready to season it over the weekend. I'm glad I watched your video so that I will have some idea of how it heats, I think, once I get used to it, it will be like any tool, I'll adapt to the nuances. Just as with cooking over the coals, it becomes intuitive and I am already used to cooking where the centre is the hottest. I don't use any timers, or thermometers i just go with what I know from experience from grilling for 30+ years. I guess I may have to adjust to this new tool since the heat source is hidden by the griddle. Can't wait to experiment and learn. Thanks again.
hey thats awesome...I agree hahaah When I started I was the same way....honestly I would still be if not for the channel...just learn and go
Inaugural griddle success: Had two delicious medium-rare ribeyes with saute veggies last night and they were delicious. I definitely will need to get a side table, that would help, it got pretty chaotic as far as space.@@TheFlatTopKing
Good review, if the Blackstone requires the propane to go in the cabinet, I use a 30 gallon and do not think it would fit. I do like the rear grease trap. NOW, a brilliant representation of the heat zones with the bread, in fact that is an exceptional idea for any griddle owner, well done Neal!! Solid, Solid, Solid review!! Your constant reminder to know your heat zones is the element to true success with the griddle and you are the only one instructing it that way. You have literally created a new visual for any newbe or old griddler out there. NONE of the Blackstone chefs/cooks ever talk about it. I like the variation in zones on my Blackstone, and because you pointed it out when I stated griddling, it has added the character of mastering the griddle I have, kinda like it that way.
Thanks bud...I am a visual learner myself and thought how can I relay this in visual form....
Interesting process of comparing the 3 different grills
I just recently bought the Char Grill 4 burner griddle. So far I’m happy with it’s performance, I cooked some burgers with onions on it the first night. Then cooked French toast and bacon for Mother’s Day brunch, and did a few scrambled eggs for me. No issues what so ever, and I do like that the legs can fold up, which I think will come in handy come winter time as I live in North Dakota and don’t have a garage for storage.
Awesome....I need to look at those...
@@TheFlatTopKing I hope you do. I don’t have any experience with griddles so it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it.
Great video, I've had my Blackstone for two years and giving it away because I hate the grease trap. It fell off for the 3rd time this week when trying to put the soft cover back on after a cook.
Yeah completely understand for sure...
You totally changed my mind. Planned on getting the new Blackstone 28" 3 burner with lid. My daughter has a Blackstone ... given to her by the company which filmed a commercial in her backyard. She also has a green egg and another grill. The Blackstone is used much more often than the others. But today, instead of ordering a Blackstone, I ordered the Weber. It may not have the perfect design, or all the bells and whistles, but what it has that is more important to me as a newbie is predictable heating. I don't want to have to master the challenges of being a griddle goddess ... I just want to cook a nice meal without a lot of added stress. Great reviews! Thanks for this and all the other awesome content. Love your channel.
Ann thats music to my ears...thanks for much for commenting...I think you will thoroughly enjoy the Weber...
I’m leaning towards a Weber too. My bbq is a Weber and the warranty is amazing. I believe their griddle has a 5yr. Any idea on warranties for the others?
Great Video, Great explanations and details. Thank you!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Best comparison I have ever seen! None of the griddles would be for me. Time for you to review the Halo! It is getting a lot of buzz. But I think it is a stallion for high heat. But we need more reviews on it! Thanks for your hard work! And your wife too!
Absolutely Jay...i want one as well....
Great video! I have at least 4 friends looking to buy griddles this year. Will be sending them here.
We will be updating this one as the new ones roll in
7:21 I worked at SteakNShake for 5 years. I got used to a front and back sump that drains into a middle grease drawer. I was always pushing stuff to the back sump. I have a Blackstone on the way.
There's definitely a learning curve for me when I got my Blackstone for Christmas. I was up front aggravated at the uneven cooking but I realized I actually like it better! I keep the left 3 burners on low and the center area runs about 315, that's cool! I put the farthest right burner on medium to high (depending on the meal) so I have a WIDE variety of heat without ever having to touch the knobs. The best part about it is sear a steak on the right, cook in the middle and if something is done but I'm busy with something else I move it to the edges so it stops "cooking" but stays warm. you just have to get to know and become 1 with your machine. My opinion, I'm loving my Blackstone
Hey thats what cooking is all about and I try to preach...some like it and some dont...I agreee with zones...gald you are liking yours
Great video. Been really enjoying your channel since I found it a few months ago! Sounds like, in a perfect world, Traeger will take the feedback and whenever they release their 2nd model it could potentially be the best of the best. I've had a Blackstone for a few years and those hot spots can certainly be a pain if you aren't right on top of it the whole cook.
Spot on Cody...both parts...I hope they can fix it...really could help them spring to the top...
Cody!!! Dude I watch all your movie reviews. Cool to randomly find you in the comments.
Thanks for your critique.
Thanks Larry
I was in the market for a griddle, being a Weber loyalist i got the Weber griddle. I should have done more research before purchasing. But i think it'll be just fine after watching this video, thanks!
Not that it matters....but I am a Weber fan as well and have mentioned it several times on my channel...I have the Summit Charcoal Grill and I think you will be Happy....no bells and whistles but spot on the temps and very easy to use...
Thanks for the amazing review. I originally ordered a Blackstone from Sam’s and decided to cancel the order once I saw Traeger had released a griddle. The Traeger was almost twice the price of the BS, but I am just in love with it. I too think the handle positions are not in a great location. I would love to be able to use the sides to get food on my spatula. That is my only complaint. Totally worth it IMO. Thanks again for the awesome review. V/R Shane
Good choice! we mentioned this on my video posting this sat...comparing it to the halo
Love the bread test! So helpful. 🎉
Thanks Sara
Great Video Very Informative. Thank You
Very good info! Thank you so much!
Thanks Doug
Great video man! I am fixing to get another griddle because I am not liking my cruisnart 360. I really want a rectangular surface. You can also do this bread test on a pellet grill as well!! keep it up man!
I can....but I only have one...
On my Blackstone is the same. But I like having cool zones to push food to the side to stay warm. I always cook on low. I’m in no hurry, I’m retired from that. I’m 65. If I need the sides to cook I turn it to medium. Thanks great review. Oh and I’ve added a half gallon galvanized bucket to catch more grease on the back. 2 screws hold the bucket handle level. It works great.
Great addition..
Thanks, been looking forward to this.
Thanks Alan
Really good video - well done and thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I wonder if a part of the reason for the inconsistent temp range on the Blackstone is due to the wind guard acting as sort of a heat shield. They’re set pretty far in from the edge-about where the severe temp drop seems to be happening.
Since there is none on the Weber, maybe the heat is able to reach the edges.
Anyway, nice job. Very informative.
That has been the topic for sure...I honestly cant answer that..however after reviewing comments today and after my previous blackstone the pattern of uneven cooking is ramped
This was a great video, it helped me alot
Great vid. Lifetime Weber guy here, but when it was time to let go of my 30 yr old Genisis & go to a griddle I went with a 36” LoCo. It has the great foldable sides, great (closable) space below, easy well placed grease trap, LED temp control, built in wind guards, and attached sturdy flip cover. Its overall very sturdy w 4 wheels, 2 lockable.
Too many I found were just not very sturdy, limited space, needed a damn temp gun, and the lid was not an attached hinged style which I prefer. I almost went with the Pitboss, but the LoCo just seemed better quality. The only way I’d have gotten all the features of the LoCo is by paying $1200+ and that doesn’t suit my grilling amount. Would live to hear others on the LoCo.
How is the loco holding up? I'm considering either the loco or traeger.
I got Loco series 2 26 inch just 2 weeks ago.....the this is an absolute pain. It is way to much tech to function. Always an error code and shutdown. Returning tomorrow to Home depot before I put hammer holes in it. And trust me I can get anything to work if it actually will. Went against my gut one time by going with the "cool fancy techy crap" now I get to load it on my truck fully assembled and drop it back where it came from. No more techy crap for me 😡
I've wanted a griddle for a while and sold my GMG pellet grill to make room for one on the deck. It started the day that I saw the traeger flat rock on display. I knew that the design could stand up to the wind in our area.
Love mine for sure.....
I had my heart on the Traeger but then target clearenced a 28 inch weber griddle for 215 dollars. Had to do it 😂. First griddle so maybe I will upgrade down the road! Thank you for your awesome content
Hey absolutely correct decision...no kidding...great griddle for a beginner...i stand by em for sure....
Boycott Woke Target! 🤬
@@Jeff-bl1rz calm down snowflake 🤣. Do you need to see the manager Karen?
Thanks for the detailed video, Makes me wish you did the toast for the Camp Chef one too. I also saw they now have a hood.
Yeah...i saw that...The bread would have been dark just more even..it would have had a lighter outer but darker middle..just more even....
This was a great video! Thank you!
Thanks Jamie
Bring on the competition!
I love the grease bucket on the Traeger. I don't like the rear grease trap on my Blackstone. I've watched a number of videos where griddle owners modify the tops with a side grease discharge, but then that can lead to lost food on the sideswipe pickup! I would think a front left discharge like with a front trough model except only having six to eight inches actually being open in that left front corner would be better. It would minimize the lost pick-up zone, maximize the cooking area and allow for a front grease collector access like on the Traeger & Weber. Heck, I lose stuff out the rear discharge port on my griddle! I think I have more control up front, so I'd like to see a left front grease discharge port in the future. Just my opinion, but something to think about.
Hey im definitely on board with that....no doubt...completely agree
Great review. Really explain small details i would have overlook.
using the bread was genius, and a great representation of even heat distribution. had this video came out 4 months ago, it might of persuaded me to buy something other than the B.S.
always aftermarket...take that money and put towards the one you want
I have the Wal-Mart Blackstone for the price it works good but it only has two Swivel wheels wish that it had all four of them. Weber keeps the temperature pretty close, And the Traeger. The bread test Blackstone didn't do that good. Here in AZ lately I need to get some wind guards. Thanks Neal great video 👍
Thanks Robert...
Really great content in this one Neal! If you could take the three and combine the good features into one griddle you’d have a winner. Maybe Halo could send you one to review? Thanks for going into such detail. Cheers brother!
Thanks Jay....no doubt its on my list...to many people have asked about it...
Great video! Pitboss Ultimate Griddle guy here but dang all those griddles look great! If that Traegar wasn’t so pricy, I would have already been in the dog house and bought it!! Lol
Remember also that Traeger is a smaller griddle for $899?
Great video Thanks
Great video, I appreciate the detail.
Absolutely...thanks for commenting
Good video. Not going to lie, alot of people are sleeping on the Members Mark griddle. It's a hidden gem, especially for the price. Mine has served me great for 2 years.
Absolutely ...we talked about it on our most recent live...
The 4 burner that's always displayed at Sam's Club?
I have that same Blackstone and the heat is uneven just like yours. I've learned to live with it and it cooks great food.
Absolutely....thats what its about...learning how to cook with it instead of against is
Great video!
I just bought a 26in Wally World special EG and I absolutely love it. 26in a real lid and 3 burners. I've cooked on it daily since purchased 3 weeks ago zero problems. For the price $197 it's amazing. Ever review one of these before? The only dig on it ,is the steel isn't as smooth as a Blackstone. Still cooks perfectly fine to me 😊
I have not....there are so many brands and configurations out there now I will never be able to catch up..ahahhha
@TheFlatTopKing i totally believe you on that. Because of the it's price $197 and easy of availability, I belive it would be a great choice for you to review. Not telling you what to do. Just a suggestion
Great explanation ❤tyvm
Great review Neal!!! I would like to see you pickup and review a Halo Elite 4B also. That seems to be a very nice griddle incorporating a lot of thoughtful features. I'm still using my Gen 1 Blackstone and every time I start to think, "Ok, this is the one I need to upgrade to..." a new model comes out that makes me rethink that (currently the Halo is that model). Also I wonder if one of those infra-red modules that plugs into your cell phone would be helpful in showing the hot and cold spots on the griddle surface (the ones that give a IR image like a FLIR, not just a temp reading like a IR heat gun). That may be the way to go rather than a IR heat gun...
I mean I could...ii would think the bread did a good job ahahhahaa
@@TheFlatTopKing the bread test was a killer!!! Talking about an amazing visual! Can't wait to see the bread test on the new Blackstone Omnivore, Traeger and the Halo!!!
Pretty dang good video, think I'm going with the Weber 28
Thanks Jake...just in case you're interested Weber has come out with a 36 in model...
excellently done as always. BTW, I and probably everyone else believe your wrong about your opinion not mattering. You are really what i consider a Prosumer. People like you are who the comapnies should, at the very least, really be listening to if not consulting with
Well I appreciate that Richard...truly....
One issue I have with the blackstone is the hood when hinged open rests directly on the grease trap and even covers half of the opening. You have to be careful not to push food onto the hood if you keep it attached. They need to redesign the new hoods to work better with the traps. Also my side table legs don't just drop like that with the button press. They are much more stiff. I have to pull them down myself. And mine was missing the pin for the hinge. I had to use my own bolt to fix it. Lastly my fuel hose leaks on multiple tanks. Used the one off my old grill and it's fine. Quality control is questionable. But the grill is still awesome, the folding side table is worth every penny. I will just have to learn to work around the heat zones
A lot of goods out of that..just one thing that stood out...Definitely be careful with the leaking hose thing,...
@@TheFlatTopKing yep totally agree. I wouldn't use it at all. Stole the one out of my old broil king and that one doesn't leak at all. So I'm just using that one for now
Best experience Best knowledge Best cooking demo You are the Very Best flat top reviewer on You tube that I alway appreciating your hard work to making Very Best video existing about flat top on You tube.
Really appreciate that...thanks
Thanks for this video... joined your facebook group also. I am deciding which griddle i want to add to my deck.. the traeger is on my short list.
Awesome! Thank you! Welcome aboard...Well I have mentioned several times as of now its my favorite because the true zone cooking, along with the second best low end heat...has fantastic high heat... I think its built with thicker material on the market...large shelves...etc
I'm new to your channel and I was sort of cheering for the Blackstone until I saw the toast result. Seems like Traeger is the way to go. Thank you for the testing.
Thanks Derek...
I just bought the 28 inch weber...great price....heat seems to be amazing all over the top....hopefully i dont regret this decision. Thanks for the info!!!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@TheFlatTopKing are you enjoying the weber now?
@@lzoy171 it’s my top 2. Traeger is one but this one is 2. Big gap to number 3.
JUST SOME HONEST FEEDBACK
My Blackstone is used once or twice a week for the 2 of when the kids and grandkids show up on special occasions.
Since it's all about the COOK, it would make sense that if I was to purchase a grill today, I would go with the EVEN TEMPERATURE grills and not the Blackstone.
I love, love, love the Blackstone accessories and have everyone made for man.😊 and I love the 4 burner and 35" surface, not to mention the Cool looking industrial look. The grease trap in the back is also fantastic. But if the temperature variation is so erratic, what's the point. Its like using sunscreen that only works in spots.
This video is a game changer. Thanks.
Buddy that's exactly spot on...They really have a market to themselves with griddles and accessories ....BUT the name can only sell so long with competitors getting so close....
Great review man. I’ve been wanting a Blackstone, but now I want a Traeger…
Edit- I read reviews on Home Depot’s website and lots of people say the front of the Traeger cracks from the heat and heat escapes out of the crack right toward you. I guess I’m still on the search.
I honestly have not had that happen...Yet...
Great review! I wish the new Blackstone had the air fryers.
that's Brother for putting your time and effort
Absolutely
That Traeger looks very impressive. I wish it had a storage cabinet / drawers, and I think that handle design is ridiculous, but otherwise it looks easily the best of the lot there. Yeah, it would be nice if Lo was about 300-350, but turning a burner or two off in the middle works oK to get that low temp.
100 correct...it can when adjusted...just so many configurations when we start adjusting knobs...
Hands down, one of the best reviews on CZcams. The bread is a perfect visualization. Blackstone should seriously consider the competition. I have a Blackstone griddle but my next one will be a Traeger if they can maintain the consistency. At the end of the day, consistent temperature across the cooking surface should be everyone’s number 1 concern.
Yeah I agree...oddly enough a lot of people just got used to the unevenness..and now the name is so big the most consumers don't care because they have the NAME....Heck what Blackstone has done for the griddle community will never be matched...but competition is coming on strong and where they believe it or not People are starting to notice...
@@TheFlatTopKing Competition is key. I hope Blackstone reacts. The dream would be a griddle that you could put on low and would stay at the breakfast sweet spot no matter how long it’s on. Or even one side smash burger temp and one side low 300s.
@@Dawgrum preach. Completely agree
Traeger is also double the price
Is Blackstone made in China?
I love my BS. I also love that my grease tray is in the back, as it doesn't getbin my way at all. The biggest thing i took away from this video is the fact that most of us don't have an abundance of different brands of griddles, just have to learn and get comfortable with the one you choose to get. "Personal preference". Great video sir.
👍
Absolutely.....larger majority will never know the goods and bad...just buy and cook...
Is like to see you throw a $200 members mark 36 inch in there to see if they are all overpriced. I love mine
Good job
I've had two Blackstones and they've both been hot garbage. Uneven heat, immediately oxidizing paint, rusting cabinet, awkward grease catcher, the list goes on and on... Just got the 4 burner Weber, and it's awesome so far. My only complaint is the lack of a cabinet and/or drawers underneath. Hoping they introduce some new versions in the near future.
Completely understand....hope weber steps it up as well..
Dave are you happy with your 4 burner Weber? My family wants me to get a blackstone for Father’s Day but I really want the Weber.
@@danielallen6109 Absolutely! It may be a bit basic in areas, but it is obviously built well where it matters. I'm pretty tired of hearing people dog on this thing. Weber obviously built it to a price point, and in that regard, I for one think they nailed it! If they were to build a fancier more luxurious model for $1k I'd be all over it, but until they do I'll be quite happy with this one. Like most Weber products, I have relative confidence that this thing will still work and look like new years down the road. Unlike the garbage blackstones I've tried.
@@DavidDarrow thank you
Thanks for the info.

I just want to throw this out there too that Weber now has the full size griddle insert for their Spirit 300 and Genesis 300 lines. For me it's a no brainer considering I already have a Spirit 300 and it just makes sense for me.
If you already multtiple grills (charcoal, gas, & pellet) just get the insert and save you some room in the backyard.
Great tip....thanks Roy
Great video. I have been torn between the 30" Blackstone Culinary at Lowes for $399 and the Flatrock. Very similar in size. The Traeger seems to have the edge here, I'm just not sure if I can justify the price being more than double in this instance. At the same time, I worry I'll second guess not going Traeger...
What about the Weber right in the Middle...definitely worth it...ugly but the best when it comes to low temps and easy to use
@@TheFlatTopKing So I decided to just go for it with the Traeger yesterday. I got a dud with a lot of missing paint on the interior of the griddle and the areas were already rusting. Luckily Ace took it right back. They recommend I wait on another and open it in store. I'm a bit nervous now...
Hey Neal, maybe one day you can design and produce your brand of griddle, could name it “The Flat Top King Griddle”. It would include all the good features from the different brand griddles out there.
Hey do doubt is on my list...I would love it and no doubt take the challenge on
