    Did you take a sample of fuel to check for contaminants and do a visual check of the fuel level just in case the gauges are playing up ? Also it is a good idea to have the canopy/window open when you yell out CLEAR PROP so that people nearby can actually hear you. Finally even if you have memorised a checklist inside out and back to front it is a good idea to use a written checklist just in case, as we are human and we all suffer from memory lapse occasionally. Thankyou, happy flying.

    THANK YOU PRANAS!! This is the same type machine I will be training with in the UK... The legroom for a tall man is phenomenal! - Good stuff!

    Thank you Pranas for another very interesting and well made video! You really help an aviation enthusiast like me appreciate the science, technology, human aspects, and beauty of flying.

    Try to turn off the batt after checking the lights and pitot heat or you could have a flat batt if every student is leaving it on during every preflight check.

    (from working at a maintenace hangar for similar aircraft, a Grob C200) we only had to inform ATC of any movement, such as ground testing. the starting of an engine, within the engineering area did not need ATC clearance

  • @yacineelhassani
    @yacineelhassani Před 11 lety +1

    caution before starting any engine canopy must be firm and not lock because how you do the day or the engine will fire on the learning and training s is only when we make the point checklist to stop and before takeoff that we locks the canopy. good flight with caution.

    One question for you: don't you check if fuel tank drain tubes are clear? You know what can happen if there's low pressure in the tank

  • @sennacher

    I'd add to check visually the fuel level... displays might fail, eyes can't - same on the hinges of tail and rudder.
    Also you didn't check the front spring stiffness/service... I see many missing checks
    for an ATPL studen

  • @ubotte

    Nice video but let me say that fuel quantity must be verified also looking inside the tanks, not only with televels. Quality of fuel should also be checked collecting some via gascolator.

    the main reason why you need to shout that is to make sure that no one gets hurt in the few seconds that the prop starts to run

  • @myofficegoes65
    @myofficegoes65 Před 11 lety

    Wouldn't you open the canopy to call "clear prop"? It seems you would have to yell loudly for someone to hear you with the canopy closed.

  • @jerry150686
    @jerry150686 Před 11 lety

    Big aircraft, yes. But smaller, no. PA28's usually only have strobes, even bigger ones, like Cessna Citation's (maybe not all, but some do), ATR's (I see those flying for FedEx in CDG) and so....

  • @SirijusS
    @SirijusS Před 11 lety

    The canopy isn't a very good sound isolator, so you don't really need to shout very loud in order for others to hear it :)

      @@elmin2323 1) the Rotax does not have traditional magnetos, it has electronic ignition modules not directly engine driven like a magneto. 2) since it is a dry sump, burping the engine is the only way to get a valid oil level
