      Smart move. During the hurricanes of 2018 my only way out was an abandoned A320, which thankfully had one working battery with which to start the APU (a term I only learned after watching this video while in the partially submerged cockpit).

      jeff 33 well why not take it for a spin since this guy taught u how to start it. All u need to do is make sure the ground isn’t in the sky because if ur flying and all of a sudden u see pavement u did something wrong.

      @@Roalethiago In the game you turn off APU on the checklist that causes it to stop, the fix is a mod that adds tons of new buttons to press that also patches the engine 1 stop

    This is so amazing. I don't fly any kind of aircraft but I find this to be wonderful -- and in some ways helps me to overcome my fear of flying and turbulence (seeing how carefully everything is checked just to power everything on).

      It also helps you understand the various noises during takeoff and climb, and why for example the plane might power down temporarily during a climb..

      This is completely insane. The computer should do ALL of this, and only prompt the pilot to clear conditions that are out of position. The pilot should clear conditions. Start the APU. Clear conditions again. Start M1. Clear conditions. Start M2. Comm with tower as needed.

      @@rpriesol most of the swich is set to automatic. The point of the checklist is to make sure it works if it taken out of automatic.
      Really the only reason its not all automatic is because a plane cant just pull up to the side if a system fail.
      Granted, something mote modern like A220, a lot more system is just fully automatic.

    Thanks for making this video. When you first posted it I was self studying the A320 ground school and seeing how the buttons worked here was invaluable - I literally just had the fcom 😂. I later flew the a320 for 5 years. I’ve forgotten it all now but it brings back fond memories.

    I fly very often, twice a month roundtrips so 4 times a month. Nearly always on A320s and wow! It's crazy to see everything these pilots have to do to get us in the air. Great job

      All Airbus planes have simillar panels (cockpit) so airline pilots can swich planes after a couple of monts training, no matter if you change A318 for A380

    Voltage levels and AC frequencies in jet aircraft are always so amazingly bizarre.
    Running AC at 400hz, crazy.

      high speed turbine engines turn faster, and you need smaller and lighter alternators. Saves weight. more efficient.

      @@gulammohiddin5747 Because jet engines are small-ish and they spin so fast, they generate electricity differently from the big slow ones used to make power for cities. This makes the electrical specs onboard really weird.

      i recommend getting a second hand logitech yoke + logitech flight switch panel + flight instrument panel + some other logitech flying gear, its really awesome and its not as expensive as other home cockpits

    I have a massive runway with ILS and is somehow a recognized airport on the MCDU, because of this video it was a breeze getting it out, i watched some other video about the other stages of the flight, when I reached Heathrow the ATC where saying lot's of things to me that i didn't understand, once I got out of the plane using the emergency side window rope I was escorted by the police, which I thought was very kind.

      that would have been the GPU (Ground Power Unit). The APU is an integral part of the plane located at its tail, which (you are right btw) should have turned it off for taxi and take off.

    I didn't think this would work on my flight sim on my phone but everything was really accurate, just like the real thing. I was actually able to start the aircraft from cold and dark following this videos instructions.

    What is wrong with every second commenter pointing out some irrelevant fact about him not following real world procedures 100% (ADIRS 1,2,3 not 1,3,2, the doors are open, MCDU Flightnumber didn't match callsign, Runway isn't used for T/O..).
    This was not the point of this video. He wanted to provide a short video (maybe within the old youtube 15 min limit) on how to start an Airbus 320 without any prior knowledge. And I think he accomplished that.
    If you want to follow the procedures 100% then go grab them online and follow them with the visual aid of this video - as most of the important steps are shown here.

Does Everest really have the gradually 'slightening' slopes necessary to correct the down pitch at startup without crushing the nose gear at the same time? Do the passengers get a heads up on the minor pressure discomfort that can occasionally occur? Isn't the Annapurna inflight route ultimately a little on the rocky and foggy side? I've heard cynic pilot remarks about monsoon season wind shear being worse than for any other +7000m international airport.

    Very helpful to know what all the buttons and panels do! I destroyed a prop engine recently in simulating "dark and cold" starts. On autopilot I went into a spin. I won't talk about pressing both fuel dump buttons in a rush start of my virtual 787.

    My instructor pilot was old school and taught me to memorize checklists and procedures from the manual and do them from said memory. That way I had a full understanding of the systems and only needed to use the checklists as just that, a check-list. Way too many pilots using them as do-lists and are way too dependent on them as an operator. As the aircraft became more complicated, the longer the nights became studying and memorizing.

      @@MerlinVI You're joking, but in all seriousness, a sudden smell of dirty socks in an aircraft might be a sign of engine oil getting into the bleed-air which is used for cabin conditioning. At room temp the oil is harmless, but once heated it decomposes into nasty stuff.
