The author does like to czcams.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
Jimmy you have a spiritual voice, I feel filled with joy and happiness when I see a Diresta video for Sunday morning, talk all you want.
Biggest tip I got here was using the wedge to force the form to expand. Great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Like you've said before, "You go to school on the first one." Great explanation of your design. Thanks!
Love seeing the first iterations of product design and development. This was a fun build. 👍👍
Jimmy makes it look easy. The cam system is awesome!
Weaver seems like an awesome company, and is one of the few things that would draw me to living in America - access to great craft resources.
Always excited for a DiResta video!
The sound of the tools adds to the creativity I just love it ❤
Leather is just such a fine material to work with.
That punch jig is genius! Pulling the chisel can be a headache sometimes. Might be borrowing that idea.
I like the wedged molding blocks. Reminds me of shoe stretchers from my grandfather's cobbler shop.
I enjoy your love of sound and demonstrating the sounds. I like the squeaky sharpie cap, it’s like a duck call.
"Jimmy 3 Phones" Great work as always.
Brilliant, Jimmy! Fantastic work! 😃
The cases look amazing!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The stitching chisel jig/holder thing is genius!!
The design of the pushsticks made me laugh bigtime. Beautiful cases!
And if you know why one of the pinkies is missing then you know.
Yes love that sound also, thanks for all you do for the community🤗😎🤗😎
The slight imperfection of handmade leather🤩❤️❤️🤩❤️🤩❤️🤩
As always - awesome job. I like the cam mechanism you used to mold them - super smart!
A 3rd iPhone, for the man in your life who has everything.
I love Weaver! I met some of their people at their booth at Blade show ‘22, they were so nice and helpful!
It’s not only the amazing end product from JD, but the little tips and tricks along the way. Case in point that jig for punching the leather holes! Genius!
I totally want one for sure. Thank you for sharing.
the ẽxpanding wood system is smart, and the red dye is gorgeous, kind of Italian I'd say.
The cam system always surprises me with its simplicity and utility.
Nice one dude! You are always sharing, and I am always learning.
Love to watch your videos. I have learned so much about a lot of things over the past years you have been showing us in the videos. I really like when you show us the prototypes of your designs and product. seems like the world gets a little better each time you post a new video. PS don't stop.
❤️❤️❤️
It’s always the subtle elements that make me smile. The cam for the top tab had me like, oh right….gotta stretch that too.
Is there anything you can’t do Mr. Diresta? I hope you put these in your store because I would buy two of them. You truly are The Godfather of make❤
Jimmy, I love that sound, too!
You always brighten my day.
Thanks, hUgz, Lee
Love the little hand pushers
as always love watching you work. the shear Varity of things you make and materials you use impresses me every time'
Bro has like 4 trap phones, that's a flex
Burners, for hmmm...business stuff 🤣
Flipping crafts catching wreck
He has one for his podcast stuff, one for his CZcams stuff, another for his business stuff, and the fourth is for his friends and family….it’s a whole system….
@@jasonbailey9139 well, each email account needs a different phone and laptop. 🤣
Diresta, love the series in Netflix. Congratsss!!! Im from Brazil. Thanks for all.
Went to school on the first batch, the natural tan leather looks good
As always, very entertaining.
Thank you for the close up, normal speed, of that stitch!
Really dig it.. some people are just harder on there stuff and this will definitely help keep it nice!!! Great work as always Jimmy.
I like the stretching jig, neat idea!
Good job Jimmy Diresta well done
i love your longer videos
Great cases Jimmy.
Leather has a beauty, flexibility & utility unlike anything & these beautiful cases & the methods have potential for so many custom projects, especially in the holding & organising of small tools & digital memory products. Thank you for sharing!
I, too, love the sound of leather squeaking 😊
Nice work! Thanks for posting and thumbs up.
Nice looking design and a good test of the technique. I could see it leading to ever more variations.
They're incredible
Great video jimmy! I have been messing around with some leather work lately while traveling. Appreciate the inspiration! Take care.
The Godfather never fails to entertain and educate.
Love the leather vids jim.
Love the cam trick!
Really cool Jimmy! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
One phone for texting, one phone for calling, one phone for Instagram, one phone for CZcams. It's like your computers all over again.
You are truly a renasounce man you a brilliant person I love your craft and are an inspiration I love all your videos and I want to invent something you are blessed sir
cool experiment, recon it would be fun to make a wooden iPhone template and wet form on that prior to stitching..... humm not sure but defo a fun project Jimmy thanks for sharing sir
Terrific work Jimmy! I don't own an iPhone but if I did, I'd love one of those cases to store it in! 👍👍
I thought you could put a magnet on the end of the flap and on the case where it lands. I'm not sure if the leather is thick enough though for a magnet to be recessed into it. I have some magnets that are about 1-2mm thick. I could definitely see me using one of these for my Galaxy Tablet. Something simple like a leather sleeve to protect the screen when I put it in my bag.
I love the color of the red one.
I love to see Jimmy using all kinds of tools that are not made for leatherwork but still work fine ;)
Very nice work J.D....
11/28/22. Leather Cell Phone 📱 case.. ! Sweet!👍👍👍⚙️😊
"Listen to the Sound of the Tools!" aaand the annoying Bongo kicks in. 😂😎
Cam wedge system is a great solution. 👍🏻 Love and respect.👊🏻👊🏻
Great video. Super clever. The process is always interesting. Mahalo for sharing! : )
I'm glad you made this! I've been planning on getting into leatherworking and one of the first things I wanted to do was make a case for my iPhone 13, so this will be great reference material!
Very nice. Would like to see another two slits on the back as well for belt loop. These are nice enough to flex your EDC. Do a combo phone/letterman on the belt
Although I prefer my Otterbox for protection, since I’m a klutz and drop everything, these are gorgeous as usual. Love your leather working.
you still need to hold the Otterbox case to your belt 🙂
awesome, sounds like the F1 in the background...
How is it that Jimmy doesn't yet have 2 million subscribers?
very cool.
Good to see you
Espectacular 👏 👏 🔥
I’ve seen some of your videos in the past as i love watching people make things, so after actually reading about you in Nick Offerman’s “good clean fun” I had to come back and subscribe :)
I’ll be sure to look back through your videos for stuff that intrigues me most, and look forward to more videos like this in the future 👍
Thank you!
Awesome!!!
Probably a day will come when we will see jimmydiresta Moc-Toe boots!! 😀😀
I wondered how you were going to get the phone fit in there. Great idea!
Need a belt loop, maybe a snap or hook and loop closer if used on a belt. Thanks, great vid.
Next video is gonna be leather cases for your 5 Mac computers 😁 this was really fun to watch!
Love it! Awesome job brother. Also I don’t want to forget, love you jimmy. Make On Maker 238
❤
Yimmi sei il migliore lavoratore un grande uomo
Does soaking the leather for the mould-forming process weaken the Quick & Thick Titebond adhesion? I’ve never used the stuff so I’m not sure if it’s water resistant like Titebond 3.
Interesting video, I've been messing around with leather as well, didn't think of using a wooden mould, one thing I did find useful was putting a press stud base on the thick outer layer on one side and 2 riviets for a belt loop on the other, then adding a thinner leather liner in between to keep them away from the phone. Would have to do it prestretching and not sure it'd work with this technique though? Thank you good food for thought when I get chance to try it.
Awesome video as always! May I suggest molding the leather before stitching, also molding them using something like plastic rather than wood. Doing it this way helps leave a more uniform molded shape and won't damage the leather or stitching in the process of molding. This would also allow you to dye or even line the inside of the leather easier and better.
how would you hold it to mold it?
When Steve Jobs originally conceived the iPhone he wanted it to be carried in a leather sheath such as the one you made. Pretty cool!
Hey Jimmy, I would be interested in the vector file. Also, what weight leather did you use? Thanks!
I need me one of those.
Quick question: Where do I get a custom steel stamp like you have for “Diresta”? Also will it stamp steel?
At 8:00 in the video i couldn't help thinking..."Come on cow, stretch baby stretch!"....
Jimmy the best 💪👍👍👍👍
Very nice. Just needs a belt loop or pocket attachment.
Great video as always thanks, have you thought about putting a couple of cutouts in the back so they could fit on a belt
"You go to school on the first one," a very wise man told me once.
Which specific color red and blue dyes did you use? Thank you for sharing!
Good experiment I like thar cam system you made. Just a suggestion, make the buckle tongue longer. Don't move the slits for it. I think that would work for what you want.
Thank you. Very cool project, as always. I'm curious as to the smell of laser cut leather? Thanks again.
I've been experimenting with laser cutting leather this month and have had mixed results with cuts. Is it best practice to get it done in a single pass at low speed?
Hey, love the process, for next iterations, maybe adding a slot on the bottom to allow for charging while in the case ?
Parabéns, faça bastante para vender
Nice to see the Submariner make an appearance again. You seem to be wearing the Apple Watch in your videos lately. But I’m a sucker for mechanical watches and love seeing yours getting used again!
