Great vid. The way you were sweat talking about the HK45 near the end of the video was making me rethink my wife selection. Dang, why can't my wife be more like that HK? :)
Absolutely love my HK45T. It's everything you say it is. Imo one of the best 45's on planet earth. Agree on the trigger, it's very good. Have the match trigger on my USP45t. There is a difference to the two triggers but it's minor. Super soft shooter. Thx for your videos
I like your reviews, I would like you to compare it to the fn 45, I own both , I don't like Mac's reviews of both. You have a good following to set the record straight!!
I have a TLR-1s on there now, the Surefire X300 is also a great choice. I will have one soon. Both are very solid lights, but the surefire is a little more expensive, it is build a little tougher though.
Enjoy your vids. Going to get a P30LS in .40 and the HK45. I also currently have USP 45 Compact Tactical . Love it. I want to eventually put tritium night sights on all of them.
Thanks for the feedback. Those are all great guns. I have a P30LS in 9mm waiting on me when I get back. The HK45 is a solid pistol, you will love it. Tritium night sights are also a very wise Idea. I like the meprolights on my HK45c's in FDE. They are easy to pick up, have a wonderful ledge on the rear sight for 1 handed manipulations, and they are bright at night. Great sights.
Mag loaded, and round in chamber all the time. When I store my guns at the house when I am in the states, the guns have an empty chamber and a loaded mag. Just in case I don't have my HD gun on me, I can always load the closest gun and defend myself.
When you mount a weapon light underneath the front of the pistol, keep an eye on the top, forward portion or area of the light body itself, IF the light body sticks out further than the muzzle of the gun. The reason is, sometimes the hot gases escaping from the muzzle after pushing the bullet out of the bore can impinge on top of the body of the weapon light, and it won't take long (maybe 200-300 rounds, +/-) before those muzzle gases begin to strip the finish coating(s) off the top surface of the light.
After I reset it back to where it would be if just decocked and not dry fired there is no wiggle. It's only when in the all the way down position after a dry fire.
No stress, you are not bothering me at all. I am not a fan of laser sights. I like them just fine, and I have a C5L for my HK45c. They work great in a pinch, but they have to work. I have found a flashlight and night sights help me the best. A Laser is a great tool, but not a crutch like some people use it as. I am really neither for or against them. I don't train with it though.
Love this gun. To answer JonnieMN. I have both (HK45 and Sig P227). They are both excellent guns. They feel a little different, but in their own excellent way. One is a BMW M5 the other is a Mercedes AMG55.
I have 1270 through my US made HK45, and 630 rounds through my German HK45. I also have 20 mags per pistol as a habit. I have about 30 magazines for my HK45's, I have a few more to get for me personally. It is always good to have spares. I would say average guy, 6-10 is more than good. As for the buffers/recoil assemblies....no, they are still 100% good to go. I have two full spares on hand for when they do, I keep accurate round counts so everyone will know when I change them.
Navyman8903 I have a question for you about the hammer on my HK 45. After dry firing the gun when the hammer is all the way down. Before you reset it. I go push on the hammer there is some wiggle to it forward. I didn't know if this is normal or not so I checked on some of my other hand guns.. and they do not have any wiggle to them you can't move them any way except back to reset. I was just wondering if this is normal or not. I dropped the Hk 45 pretty hard on the pavement once and noticed this then when I was thoroughly inspecting it after the drop. So I don't know if it was always like this or not.
Forgive me in you answered this already in your video, i kind of jumped around listening for the bits that i thought wer relevent to my questions. I just purchased one of these and i while i am waiting for it to arrive to my local dealer, I have been purchasing the norms for a new gun. Extra mags, holster, and SPARE parts. How many rounds would you say you have shot through your HK45? and have you had to repalce the nylon buffer or the barrel O-ring yet? Just wondering if i should get a few.
My first HK was a Mark 23 and it sort of got me down on HK. I have a very hard time shooting it well. It feels like my hands are not big enough. But earlier this year, I picked up an HK45 (partially based on your old review) and it is my favorite weapon. Feels like it was made for me and I can handle it very well. Great review, though I kinda miss the personal style of the old one :)
You must have very small hands. I've got three (3) Mk 23's & they're incredibly accurate...!! I have what you might call "small to medium-sized hands" and I shoot those guns just fine..! Having said that, I will say that yes, the Mk 23's grip could've been made smaller, but given the rationale' for the gun's development, I can also see why the gun is "overbuilt"...!! I'm a "dyed-in-the-wool" 1911 guy and I own several of those. I personally do not care at all for sharp checkering anywhere on my guns - front strap, back strap, or grips or grip panels, if the gun uses them. I find that after a few magazine's worth of ammo fired, the recoil of the gun (.45's) causes the checkering to abraid the skin on my shooting hand. Nope, I want just straight, "dead-smooth" grips all the way around for me. But with the HK's, you gotta take what they give you, most of the time, anyway...! And yes, I suppose I could have a gunsmith professionally "shave the checkering" off the grips of my Mk 23's, but that might hurt the value of the gun should I ever decide to sell them. Oh well...
Way late to the party I just got this pistol 2 weeks ago I freaking love it I love 45 and am cursed with short thick hands I finally have a gun that fits me and is bombproof and accurate I also have a trl 1s as well I edc this now and my cz p09 gets carried less
so do you prefer to carry one in the chamber with a full mag or full mag and nothing in the chamber, reason I asked is because everybody has their own style even tho some are wrong , carrying the gun or not , either way?
The only thing that could make this pistol better would be to have it in the light LEM version. now you have one consistent trigger pull. That is the only thing you need to change. I have that version with the light LEM and it is awesome.
Well I am sending my FDE HK45c's in for new trigger bars, I am going to have HK install the Light LEM in one of them for me. I am also going to get a few more HK45's. One of them will be light LEM. I had an LEM USPC .40, but I sold it. I do like LEM most of the time. Carry handgun for sure, I am not sure about a combat handgun yet. I didn't have enough time to dedicate myself to training with it for an extended period of time. But I will here soon.
Really old video, but it pissed me off because now I want one. I bought a 45C and like it a lot, but rented out a 45 full size at a local range, and absolutely loved it. It fits my hand so well, and now I have to get one. Even considering selling the 45C to get it, but we’ll see. Do you ever shoot/carry the 45 still? Is it still your favorite handgun?
I liked my HK 45 tactical so much I bought the HK P30L as it has the same great ergonomics, is one of the smoothest shooting 9mm out there and both the HK45 and P30L will fit in the same Comp-Tac holster for IDPA/Steel Challenge events.
I bought a V1 last month but I'm not sure how to grip it properly (medium backstrap); I have large hands. Do I ride the safety a little? Where does my support thumb go without worrying about the slide injuring my thumb?
Thumbs forward is always the best practice. You can ride the safely a little bit if your recoil mitigation is good. The slide won't bite you if your thumb is on the side of the slide, not behind the gun. But look up a high tang, thumbs forward grip.
Thanks for the review, I'm planning on getting one soon. Can you tell me what kind of flash light or laser you have on there? It seems to fit perfectly and let me know if you recommend it.
Hey I don't know if you will get this but I wanted to ask you a question. Are you liking the LEM trigger in the HK45? Do you like it enough that you want to put it in more of your guns? Which do you prefer?
+Elliott Butts LEM is perfect for Home defense and concealed carry. If it's a war gun, then V1 DA/SA all day. I will say, I love light LEM and yes I do plan to run it on other guns. I think every HK45c should be light LEM, it just feels right. I like it on the full size as well. I also purchased a Light LEM P30sk, which I like. Definitely prefer the HK45/USP series LEM, but the Light LEM is nice on the P30 series as well. Hope this helps..
+DevilDolphin 10 4. Guess I'm about to find out how much I like the LEM trigger. Just picked up a P30 v1 light LEM. Been reading on HKpro that the light LEM on the P30 is a little heavier of a pull compared to some other HK models. Seems ok dry firing though. My 30sk is v3 and I like it a lot even though it's probable the worst of my HK triggers. All my USP's have the match trigger so my HK45 T is the only other pistol I was considering going LEM. Possibly the 30sk now too if I like the LEM. Thx for your time man.
I wear medium size Oakley Pilot Gloves if that helps give you a size reference. The P30L and HK45 are almost identical. You will see slight differences. The Grip size on the HK45 with the medium back strap is almost Identical to a 1911 in the fattest parts of both grips.
navyman8903 I was able to find one at a local gunstore, but his price is almost $300 over from an online price I could find. I ordered the HK45 last week and it is on its way to my FFL.
It is moderately difficult at times, but nothing impossible to do. It is about the same size and dimensions as a full size 1911. I have carried it year round for 2 years before getting the HK45c. You have to pay attention to what you wear with the HK45, but it is easy once you get it down. I will still carry it from time to time, it is the most confident carry pistol I have ever had on me. I also used to carry the USP 45 daily, so take that into consideration also. For reference I am 5'8" 175 with a 32" waist, with an athletic build. When I carry the HK45 I wear slightly baggier cloths and pay attention to how I move. In the colder months it is a breeze and no brainer to carry the HK45. Hope this helps.
Thanks. I am looking at the HK45 or the P30 .40 and trying to decide which one. I want to carry but I also don't want to sacrifice full framed performance. Do you usually carry it in the back or a shoulder holster?
Don't mean to bother you sir, notice you don't use laser sights, just wondering , and do you recommend any for this fine pistol ,thank you for your time and all your info sir.
No one makes holsters for it though... The fnx 45 is so much more successful. Even though I do like the HK45 a lot, the aftermarket support gimps it hard. If they made this gun with 12-13 rounds it would have made all the difference in the world. 10 rounds killed it
If I didnt get married and have kids at such a young age I would have spent so much money on my toy/guns. Lol... Just curious if you drink beer, if you do whats your beverage of choice?
Starting to be like that isn't it? What can I say, Iove em. :) I move to Texas in April, once I get settled I will shoot over with them, so you can take them all for a spin.
This video aged well, because in "2023", You Can Identify as an HK45
I appreciate the support, I don't want to let me HKpro brother's down when I do one of these, so It makes me happy when one approves.
Great vid. The way you were sweat talking about the HK45 near the end of the video was making me rethink my wife selection. Dang, why can't my wife be more like that HK? :)
Finally received my HK45c today. Love as much as full size HK but little bit easier to conceal carry. Great pistols to go with my HKp30sk and HKp30L
Absolutely love my HK45T. It's everything you say it is. Imo one of the best 45's on planet earth. Agree on the trigger, it's very good. Have the match trigger on my USP45t. There is a difference to the two triggers but it's minor. Super soft shooter. Thx for your videos
I went and got a used one today based on your vid. $750 couldn't resist. Can't wait to get out and shoot it.
I like your reviews, I would like you to compare it to the fn 45, I own both , I don't like Mac's reviews of both. You have a good following to set the record straight!!
My favorite gun period! Great review!
Gotta love them H&Ks, another great video bro.
I am with you I love the grip to I have the hk tactical and and I love it great video.
I have a TLR-1s on there now, the Surefire X300 is also a great choice. I will have one soon. Both are very solid lights, but the surefire is a little more expensive, it is build a little tougher though.

They have the 12 round extended mags available now.
Wish it came with 12 round mags standard, and more grip options, like the P30.
After I reset it back to where it would be if just decocked and not dry fired there is no wiggle. It's only when in the all the way down position after a dry fire.

Good review. I learned a lot. One respectable question: Do you think you put your left hand over the muzzle a few times?
I agree, the HK45 is the best 45 acp ever. The grip melts in the hand. I also have a MK 23 but doesn't hold a candle to the HK45. Cheers, Ron
I sent my HK45 And HK 45C back to HK and had them Converted to LIGHT LEM1 Triggers . They are fantastic. Love the LIGHT LEM 1 trigger
How much did they charge you to convert them?
I have 1270 through my US made HK45, and 630 rounds through my German HK45. I also have 20 mags per pistol as a habit. Taylor freelance makes a 13 rd mag for it. Nothing wrong with 10 rds, but if you want more, check 'em out.

I still like my P220 best. My only HK is a USP 40 and i love it. Cool video though, HK is really underated.

is that a safari 6000 series droplet holster ?
My first HK was a Mark 23 and it sort of got me down on HK. I have a very hard time shooting it well. It feels like my hands are not big enough. Do you have an opinion on the HK45 vs a Sig P227?
oh and by the way , at the end of the vid what mag carrier were you using ?
Have you found a holster that accommodates the TLS-8 light?
GunfightersINC dt commmm made it for me. It has held up to some serious abuse over the years. Good, solid gun. Former Marine.

If you slam your magazine into your H&K 45 with your slide locked back does your slide release?
Yessir
Thank you sir.

I have both a 45 full-size and a 45c. They are both great guns! The price on the full-size has come down. I hope you can ADD it to your collection!
I so wish that lottery would come in.....i would have one of these!
$750 is a great price. And I bet you will love it. Please let me know how you like it when you get a chance.
I just got an HK45 for 629 new.

WOW, I can't believe you gave away 2 HK MAG$. They are super expensive, but i don't even thick that you will notice them missing from your stock. lol…
What holster you running on the hk 45 I’m having trouble finding a holster for mine
I know this is an old comment on here but Muddy River Tactical makes holsters for the HK45. Just thought I'd say something just in case.
agreed 100%
Hey what kind of holster do you use for your hk45?
Safariland 6004/6005 for the duty rig, and crossbreed super tuck for concealment. I would also get a raven for a kydex option.
Can you do a video on your thoughts about the 1911 platform? How would compare the 1911 trigger to the HK45? Thinking of a SIG1911R
I have a P30L. I have been thinking of getting an HK45 to join it. How does it compare to the P30 size wise? I don't have the biggest hands.
I wear medium size Oakley Pilot Gloves if that helps give you a size reference. The P30L and HK45 are almost identical. You will see slight differences. The Grip size on the HK45 with the medium back strap is almost Identical to a 1911 in the fattest parts of both grips.

If they made this gun with 12-13 rounds it would have made all the difference in the world. 10 rounds killed it
That's been remedied by the extended aftermarket mags and sleeves they make for it. Done!
mag1 on hkpro
If I didnt get married and have kids at such a young age I would have spent so much money on my toy/guns. Lol... Just curious if you drink beer, if you do whats your beverage of choice?
One day
Starting to be like that isn't it? What can I say, Iove em. :) I move to Texas in April, once I get settled I will shoot over with them, so you can take them all for a spin.
If you need more than ten rounds to handle your business your not doing business the right way and have to many enemies.
I get that mentality before big cities and the drug epidemics. But unfortunately we live in the modern era where ammo capacity wins gun fights.
Of course its cold... its GERMAN..
Thank you sir.
