  • As requested, we take an updated look at my taste in 45's. Unlike some gun owners I still run and enjoy 45acp. I haven't ditched the thiccc MILF round for an exclusive collection of 9mms to run the new and improved 9mm round. No no friends, 45acp is still ride or die for me. It's perfect for dedicated suppressed setups as well as launching always effective rounds, be it ball 230gr, 230gr HP's, or 185 +p. EVEN the good ole buffalo bore 45 super. These HK's are here for it. They've never let me down, and they run just as well as the day I got them, despite the abuse I've put them through. So enjoy (hopefully) the video, and make sure to leave some baller comments. Or benign, either way.
Music: "Broken" by Balázs Varga • Broken | Metalcore Ins...
I do not own or profit from the use of the cut aways in my videos. Please support the official release. Especially the guy who makes the music, this is a baller track. I am a talentless hack who can't spell and can barely create anything of value. I will be judged harshly for my laziness. But what won't happen is, my channel ever making a dime because it's not monetized. I pretend to be a cool guy, but the reality is I fart when you feed me too much cheese, I hate when people use my driveway to turn around, and Gatorade makes me bloated. Hopefully those who need it, will get the weekly sleep aid video to assist them in their sleepless nights.

A 1911A1 and .45ACP was what I learned to shoot handguns with and has always been a favorite. While in LE, I carried a Glock 21 and loved it. About 5 years ago, I happened to acquire a HK45 and that was a game changer. It really was the perfect combination of the 1911 slenderness and accuracy while having the durability and ruggedness of the USP. What is not to love? I had the factory update mine to lite LEM and couldn’t be happier! Now all I need is a tactical model for the can that is in tax stamp jail.

I have pretty large hands. Since the day I first shot a USP 45 it’s how I gauge comfort when shooting handguns.
RIA 2011 is the only other handgun that I’ve shot that gun that gave me that same feeling.
I’ve owned my USP for almost 2 decades now. It’s always gone bang when I asked it too.
12+1 should be enough for any situation I can think of and if not I have 2-3 more mags close by.
If it fits your hand and it makes you want to shoot and practice more, then it’s the right weapon for you.
I know there’s “better” out there. I found that 20 years ago.
    Cheers 🍻
Happy and safe range days to you all.

That's great to hear, the MARK 23 is something I'm glad I have. I'm not sure I would buy one again given the prices right now. But I don't know after having it so long that I could be without it. If I didn't buy one back in the day, I would probably be saving to get one now. I missed a unicorn on HKpro. They had a Tan MARK23 for sale and I was entertaining blowing my NODS fund on it. But it was just too expensive. I still think about it lol. It's just hard to part with Rifle, Suppressor, or NODS money for a pistol with everything I have in the safe. But if you don't have one yet, the MARK 23 is a solid add on, especially if you're going to run it suppressed.

Have had a 227 [got rid of it =regret] . I recently bought the HK 45 and it made my 220 tactical expendable. That 220 was uncomfortable to shoot .I would end up bashing my thumb on the slide stop and decocker. The HK 45 is a dream to shoot. The double action is no where near is bad as people claim. Sure its heavy when you dry fire it , but when you actually shoot it , you are able to be quite accurate .At least I am. Its the most accurate gun I own to shoot in double action. I never would have believed it before actually firing it. Good stuff , and beautiful guns my man. Peace

I've had similar experiences with the P220 and I honestly don't know why the P227 didn't sell as well. I wish they would do 1 more run so I could buy 2 of them. Or do a Legion run. Either way. You're spot on with the HK45 trigger. Doesn't always feel amazing when dry firing. But wakes up on the range during live fire. It always seems to be right where I need it, and the exact feedback I need when shooting strings.

I wonder what the Pennsylvania state police are gonna do? waste thousands of taxpayers money on another handgun program like they did on the 45gap.? they switched from the gap to the 227 and basically bought handguns twice since 1 glock screwed them on armorer services and 2 they couldn't get ammo. so they scrapped that program and went to the 227 and now sig discontinued that. lol they shouldn't have gotten rid of their Beretta 96's

I was definitely young and stubborn when I was carrying the USP45, then HK45 as the CCW. The 45C is a much better choice for a lot of reasons. I never drew it as cleanly and that first mag always gave me the "okay here we go" vibe. I knew I had to drive it harder so it took a mag to settle into the recoil impulse. But once I did I was good.

The Trij HD's are tall enough to drop it down enough for me to miss sometimes/notice. I also think you're right about the trigger reach on the HK45 vs the HK45c, also the trigger geometry possibly. But the full size just feels so right. I also tend to carry 4 spares when I'm out and about. 2 reloads on body, and 2 more stashed in a bag or in the vehicle. The capacity thing could get hairy if things are bad like running into a gang area or something. But I haven't gotten into any shootouts. The USP45 tactical is a fantastic .45 Super launcher. It really tames the round, feels like the regular +P in my carry gun. With zero modification you can seamlessly run through mags of standard, +p, and super with zero malfunctions. Plus the threaded barrel gives the option for comp if you want it although it's not necessary unless you kick it up to .460 Rowland. The .45 Super setup is great for woods carry or anything you would want full power 10mm for. 10mm probably has the edge for penetration but with more than adequate penetration in it's own right I'll take the round that cuts a bigger hole.
And the HK45 compact is a very efficient carry gun. The grip is a little slick, I put skateboard tape on the outboard side of the grip which makes all the difference without chaffing my love handle. But it conceals well and I find it very accurate and easy to shoot for a .45 compact.

Might even take another swing at a HK45. I don’t own any 40s at the moment, but the only two id consider are a USP or a Sig P226 or P229.

I can shoot 9 rounds of 45 and 16 rounds of 9mm at a target and have similarly sized holes so I’m happy with either.

With modern handguns being what they are, a single stack .45 without optics ready capabilities isn't what I'm interested in right now, but if I had to pick a 1911 for defensive use the DW Specialist with the rail would be my first choice. They make amazing 1911s, and I'm not really sure spending more money will get a better 1911 beyond just name recognition.

@@navyman8903 Appreciate your thoughts on the MK23. I have always been intrigued by it, but still trying to justify the price over the USP45 Tactical. As far as the PPQ 45-it has an absolutely amazing trigger for a striker-fired pistol. One of the Walther reps I talked to at a show said it had their best trigger. I still like the Q5 Match trigger a little better. I am an HK fanboy, and I readily admit it. However, the PPQ45 is definitely worth a try, if you get the opportunity. I was lucky enough to snag the LE edition with great night sights and 3 mags (12 rounds). If I had to pick 1 of my 45’s, and probably 1 of all my handguns, I would opt for the USP45 Tactical. Although the HK45 has that P30/VP ergonomic grip, I think the USP is the most durable of all. Unless I break down a buy a MK23. I would love the SOCOM soft case with the LAM and suppressor. By the way, I am retired Navy myself. Maybe one day we can bring our handguns to the range for a day or two. I am in NC, but can travel with notice.
