This film sort of retcons the notion that Yoda was directly Obi-Wan’s master. They later try to rectify this by showing us that Yoda was more of a general instructor of every Jedi at some point or another, particularly when they were younglings before being assigned a Master and becoming a Padawan. To be honest I don’t mind because it gave us Qui-Gon, who is a fan favorite and probably the best character in the movie.
There are some new things you’ll be learning in the prequels. Sith are warriors of the Dark Side of the Force and typically wield red lightsabers. Vader was also a Sith. And the reason Anakin was not immediately accepted for Jedi training due to his age was because Jedi are typically taken in as infants because they haven’t formed emotional attachments. The way Boss Nass makes declarations might be my third-favorite thing about this movie behind Qui-Gon and Darth Maul. As a kid I ran around all the time shaking my head and letting my lips flip about after watching this movie. 😂
So, Sith lords are basically the descendants of ancient Jedi who broke off from the order and chose to embrace the Dark Side as a means of utilizing passions as the main drivers of their force abilities. So, they fight like Jedi because their ancestors had similar training. But their philosophies are completely different by this point. There was an ancient war thousands of years prior to this story where an army of Jedi seemingly defeated the entire Sith population. That's why the Jedi in this movie are so shocked and hard to convince about the Sith still being around. And yes, Darth Vader and the Emperor were also Sith.

Okay.... the opening crawl, I heard you say "I read it, but didn't understand it".... let's start there: The universe isn't quite as "random" as you might think. One just doesn't point your ship in any direction to go through Hyperspace. There are "lanes" (basically highways) that go from one system to another. The Different routes are controlled by different planets/species and their interests. The Trade Federation has decided to blockade the planet of Naboo, due to taxation issues. That's where we begin. The Galactic Republic has dispatched two Jedi Knights (keepers of the peace) to sort the problem out, and get an agreement made. 3:20 - LMAO! No, not quite. TC-14 is just another protocol droid of a similar model to C-3PO. But don't worry, you'll see him soon enough. 3:29 - EXCELLENT! You caught that! A lot of people miss that. 3:44 - Well, yes, and no. Yoda pretty much had a hand in teaching all of the younglings at one point or another. Once Obi-Wan was older, he came under the tutelage of Qui-Gon Ginn and worked one on one with him. 20:55 - You've done well, keeping up with things. But here, you ask if Maul has a Jedi history. That answer is no. He was trained by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. He is trained in similar fashion, and DOES use The Force, but he utilizes the Dark Side. 27:05 - "Darth" is a title, rather than a name. It comes from being accepted as an apprentice to a Sith Lord. I've been a big fan ever since. Unlike many of the "OG" fans, I can both criticize and enjoy the movies/shows fairly. I don't automatically dismiss a whole movie for being unhappy with a few scenes. I really enjoyed the Prequel Trilogy, and I have defended that position for well over two decades. While I don't fault others for their opinions, that same level of respect is rarely returned. Whenever I stumble across a new fan, I do my best to help them along their journey of discovery with the franchise, because at this point, there is SO much content out there, it takes nearly 2 weeks to marathon it all. It can be overwhelming.
Hey there! I'm glad you're making connections, like catching the Emperor's music when the Trade Federation talks to Lord Sidious at the start of the movie. But did you catch the hidden bit in the celebration music at the very end? That was also the Emperor's theme, just in a different key and with different instruments so it sounded upbeat and happy instead of low and threatening. Almost as if there's some sort of phantom menace looming over this movie that we can't quite see just yet... ~_^

Dang I've never seen someone so anxious watching a movie, but I like the parts when you smile at recognizing 3PO and R2 and jawas, I don't know what were your thoughts about Jar Jar, especially since he is the most hated character in the franchise, to the point they blackashed the actor Ahmed Best and he even thought of suicide, thankfully he is still alive and have a children, now he is loved by the fans (I mean the actor), I can understand why many people don't like him though I never hate him per se, but in fact Jar Jar was the first motion capture character before even Gollum in Lord of the Rings.

This is set 32 years before episode IV The phantom menace ; is Darth Sidious ! who is the single greatest representation of the Sith emerging from - thought (extinction) .. but Darth Sidious plan was to infiltrate the republic and create division which would ultimately effect the Jedi order, .. which was his primary target!! so in this movie Darth Sidious creates a trade dispute preventing access via trade routes to Naboo, however Ben Kenobi’s master Qui Gon realised there is no purpose in it, thus allowing the senate to focus on a way in which to settle the dispute!! and at the same time without being detected!!!allow Darth Sidious the necessary time to begin play for a place within the senate and then make way for his true mission …. eradicate the Jedi order …. The story continues

Sith is the opposite of Jedi. Darth, I think, is short for Dark Lord of the Sith. It's a title for Dark side users that train in the Sith ways.
