No, please actually watch at least episodes 1-3 first before watching episode 6. I highly highly highly recommend it. Episodes 1-3 provide so much background and context, and would end up making what happens in episode 6 that much more impactful. But, that's just my 2 cents. Cheers!

There is NO need to mix up the trilogies. They each have their own vibe and feel. Just get the same experience the rest of the world got as we watched the story unfold over time.

Chewbacca's speech is a combination of recorded sounds of bears, walruses, badgers, and lions, by the awesome, legendary Ben Burtt. In an interview, he said he also recorded the sounds of sick animals. He did recording for the sounds of Star Wars (ep 4) for about a year.

Okay, King Gar..... I just finished doing a long reply for A New Hope..... so I'm hoping into Empire Strikes Back, now.
1:00 - Okay, remember back during Luke's trench run, when Vader said, "The Force is strong with this one...." He could sense Luke's potential in The Force, and that's why he is obsessed with finding him.
1:47 - R2-D2 is that "Ride or Die buddy".
Also, there has been a three-year time jump since Episode IV. The "Battle of Yavin" as it's called, denotes "year 0" in Star Wars' timeline. Mostly because it's where the first movie was, but "in universe" because that was when the Rebellion struck their first major blow against the Empire. While I've got this paused, let me explain the timeline real quick: Events that took place prior to the Battle of Yavin are denoted as "BBY" (Before the Battle of Yavin). Events that take place afterwards are denoted as "ABY" (After the Battle of Yavin). So, A New Hope takes place in 0 BY, Empire Strikes Back takes place in 3 ABY. As we go along, I'll use that (universally used) reference point. Return of the Jedi takes place in 4 ABY (4 years after the Battle of Yavin, and 1 year after the events of Empire Strikes Back).
2:09 - That is Obi-Wan's "Force Ghost". An ability that only a few Jedi have mastered.
2:45 - The tank of fluid that Luke was in is called "Bacta". It is a healing agent for flesh wounds. You will see that stuff again, which is why I made note of it.
4:09 - No. Chewbacca's voice is created with sounds made by Lions, Bears, and seals, combined very skillfully by Ben Burt.
7:20 - When Yoda first encountered Luke, he was testing his patience by being annoying. He wanted to know if Luke was "ready" to train as a Jedi. Once Luke had discovered it was Yoda he was talking to the whole time, you'll notice his attitude changed. Also, the way Yoda talks is on purpose. He puts the main point he wants to get across first, and details secondary.
8:12 - "What's in there?" - Luke. "Only what you take with you." - Yoda. Like much of what Yoda says, this had more than one meaning. It wasn't just his physical possessions, but also what was in his mind. That is why Luke had a vision of Vader. Vader was on his mind when he went in there. That he "won, but lost" (Vader's helmet showing his own face below the mask) is telling, but I can't explain it any more than that, because "spoilers".
10:04 - We're not exactly sure, but it was an insult that sounded a lot like "eat shit". Which is a very popular fan theory that it's what that droid said to 3PO.
10:57 - No, they aren't giving up on him, but sorting out a "backup plan" in case something happens to Luke.
11:24 - Heh. Fun fact: the script called for Han to say "I love you, too." and it was filmed nearly 100 times (according to the documentary), and never came out right. So, Irvin Kirshner told Harrison Ford to "just say something", so he said, "I know", which was a very Han Solo thing to say. They printed that one take.
11:56 - Take note to how Vader is "fighting" Luke, here. He's literally toying with him, to see how much training he has had. Remember, it's taken 3 years since Vader became aware of Luke's existence to finally encounter him. Also, I forgot to mention the bounty hunter who followed the Millenium Falcon to Bespin was named "Boba Fett". He first appeared in the "Star Wars Holiday Special" in cartoon form. And no, I don't recommend watching it. As an 11 year old kid in 1978, it was really cool, because it was the only Star Wars content we had besides the original movie. We had no streaming services back then, nor even cable TV. Watching it now, in my 50s, it's horrible. Yeah, it was the 70s, but it was still horrible. And I love cheesy stuff from the 70s.
12:06 - When Luke landed the blow to Vader's shoulder armour, that's when he decided to end the duel quickly, and he removed Luke's hand.
12:27 - Now, imagine it's 1980, you're sitting in the theater watching this for the first time, and no one saw that revelation coming. We had 3 years to wait until we found out if it was true or not. It was the topic of school yard discussions for all three of those years.
13:13 - I'm not answering that question. Best you'll get out of me is this: You'll have to watch Return of the Jedi to find out for sure.
The next movie is Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Then we waited 16 years to get Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

Re what Luke saw when he cut the mask off the pseudo-Vader on Yoda's planet: I have always interpreted this as a warning to Luke about how easy it would be for him to cross over to the dark side. It's interesting to speculate on what would have happened if Luke had heeded Yoda's advice and not taken his weapons into the cave.
Re what the C-3PO clone said to C-3PO. I think it's something like "Ee chuta". Basically I believe it was a way to get a near profanity on-screen without affecting the rating. It sounds like "Eat shit" ans, in context, is basically equivalent to "Eff off!"
Excellent reaction. On to "Return". I hope you'll do at least the 1st 3 films as well. I don't like them as much as 4-6, but they're worth it for back-story.

    Pro-tip: Turn on subtitles.
Also - Just imagine hearing THAT revelation in theaters, and having to wait 3 YEARS to find out if it's true or not. That's how we experienced it between 1980 and 1983. You kids don't know how lucky you have it!
Also also, after Return of the Jedi, you can watch everything in chronological order. Episode I, II, The Clone Wars (animated movie and series), Episode III, The Bad Batch (animated series), Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Rebels (animated series), Rogue One, Episode IV, V, VI, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Episode VII, VIII, IX. (I think that's everything)
Don't discount those animated series, either. While the first few seasons of Clone Wars can be tough to get through, it hits its stride in season 3, and the animation keeps getting better the further it goes along. You will meet some interesting characters that show up later in live action.

@@kinggar I just found your channel, and I enjoyed this video. I have been a Star Wars fan since 1977 when I was 10 years old. I am very familiar with the official canon, and just to let you know, tend to make rather lengthy replies which include many details you may have missed in your first viewing. With that said, I'm very good at not giving out spoilers. I know of a lot of "easily missed" details in the movies and TV shows, so when Return of the Jedi gets uploaded, look for a rather lengthy comment. I also want to make two recommendations to you: "Empire of Dreams", which is a movie length documentary of the making of the Original Trilogy (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi), which you can watch at your leisure after seeing Return of the Jedi. Also, a movie called "Fanboys", which takes place in our universe, but focuses on a group of Star Wars fans going on an adventure just prior to the release of Episode I in 1999. There are NO spoilers for Episode I in the movie, but there's a surprising number of cameos that you'll enjoy. Whenever I do a Star Wars marathon, I include that movie, because it's a great companion piece to the Star Wars saga. Like I said, there are no spoilers for the movie contained in it. I'm not sure what service has the movie available for streaming, though. You may have to look for it.
      Have a wonderful day!

I use timestamps in the replies, so that you know specifically what I'm referring to. I look forward to helping guide you along this ever-expanding universe.
One thing I will say about the animated series', they ARE considered "canon", and the animation does get better as they go along. As I said above, The Clone Wars is a little tedious at the beginning but does get better both in story arcs and animation style as it goes along. The 7 seasons cover a time span of about 3 1/2 years. Some new characters are introduced, and they all have some level of relevancy to the overall story.

I agree. Although the next set of movies technically take place at an earlier time, watching in the order the movies came out will be less confusing and answer a lot. I like these older movies the best, though the prequels just add on to the series. Really though, these 3 can almost be stand alone, other than it's fun to go back and see what happened in the timeline before them. I think you would really like the Lord of the Ring movies too, if you need a suggestion. Very beautifully filmed.

Beware the advice to next watch Ep VI, and continue with your plan to next watch Ep I, II, and III. You will benefit in having the backstory *shown* in Ep I-III, rather than *told* in exposition in Ep VI. There is story and plot (not the same things) in all of these movies, and both plot and story of Ep VI are enhanced using either the Modified Machete Order (451236) or the actual Machete Order (45236). I encourage you to continue while keeping as unspoiled as you can.... very well done so far! Just because we old-timers watched in release order is not a compelling reason to replicate that. No other option was possible for us because, well, space-time and stuff. The VAST majority of You-Tubers decide to have their reaction videos with watching in release order. There are some who have done chronological, and while that's not my recommended way to watch, that ship has already sailed. You can join Nasser (451236) and Duaffy (145236) to be one of the very few doing a 5-prequel-6 dance. BTW - their reactions using that formula were soul-shattering.
