"And if I'm wrong, maybe we're both wrong. Figure that out for yourselves."
Flawless
That was priceless and quite frankly, very pro life.
Very sly, haha.
"If you can KILL this mothafugga, I can AT LEAST abandon him."
Or maybe not pro life. An argument could be made that he only makes a point about how hypocritical it is that a woman could decide to keep or have the child. But a man is forced to be a part if she decides to keep it.
I'm sure many people were checked out the second he said I shouldn't have to pay.
“If *I’m* wrong, then, perhaps, *we’re* wrong.”
The most important line in this bit.
Sound logic
😂 😂 😂
Sound logic.
Redpilled them all on abortion iin the most subtle way possible yet he left the mark
A legend
I'm still not clear what he is trying to say there.
"If I'm wrong, perhaps WE'RE wrong."
The man is a genius.
he is exposing them then and there. Those 2 bitches at the front started bitching when Dave started on his point with fairness to men.
I didn't get that line. Can you explain it?
@@oceansfourteen He spends most of his bit defending the right for a woman to choose whether to fulfill or terminate her pregnancy.
He then turns this around to say that all things being equal, if a woman has a right to choose whether to have a child, then a man should at least have the right to choose whether to support it.
The humor comes from the hypocrisy of many of the people who have opinions on this subject. They think women have the right to choose, but men don't.
He then suggests that if you think he's wrong, that men don't have a right to abandon their children, then perhaps both sides are wrong, and women shouldn't have the right to abortion either.
@@kevinwalter4078 okay thank you for explaining :)

@Shane Gotti Damn! That's a good saying lol.
I love how he trapped everyone in that joke
And made them look at themselves
"And if I'm wrong then we all wrong "
Exactly the line that stuck with me.
It was a thought provoking riff, but it was kind of silly.
If men were the ones who got pregnant, Dave never would have made this joke.
I'm glad at the end Dave said figure it out for yourselves because he knew he didn't have the perfect or right answer.
bigstink9 huh. The answer is clear hence the sudden silence
@@bigstink9 I don't know if he would have made this joke or not.
All I know is that I remember some girl saying that is the woman who can make this choice because she's the one that has to suffer for 9 months.
But if the guy has to pay for the kid then he has to 'suffer' for 18 years. So...
For the record though, I'm all for both men and women taking responsibility. But I can't or won't do anything about it, so I guess what I want doesn't really matter
I didn't understand that can anyone explain (not a native English speaker)
To quote in Wikipedia:
A former president of the feminist organization National Organization for Women, attorney Karen DeCrow, who wrote that "if a woman makes a unilateral decision to bring pregnancy to term, and the biological father does not, and cannot, share in this decision, he should not be liable for 21 years of support...autonomous women making independent decisions about their lives should not expect men to finance their choice."
Thumbs up to Dave Chappelle for always making smart material to bring forward an issue and narrative rarely bought. If Woman wants their right to choose why can't Man have it too?
“My body my choice”
“Okay bitch, my money, my time, my choice… and with that being said uh goodbye”🤣😭
"And if i'm wrong, then perhaps we're wrong. just figure that shit out for yourselves." dave is a genius.

@@attyatt6504 my current interpretation is that if abortions are legal, then child support shouldn't be mandatory, however if child support is mandatory, then abortions shouldn't be legal

I mean that critically, I seriously don’t think there was anything weak or holding the performance back, it all felt pretty effortless, even the minor heckling and audience participation was handled smoothly
Who even listens to critics?!

Screw the critics. Dave said some funny and truthful things.
Of course critics panned it. Dave Chapelle is 100% ideologically opposed to them. He is not part of twitter culture, especially the cancel culture he opens he show with - you can even hear a few idiots who think Trump said and did the things he mentioned on stage lol. Bunch of idiots.

Let me guess... you're male.
I disagree on " men should shut the f up" part. You can't have a baby without a man. So the man should have a say too.
It's his child too
@@kylemylo3776 I think he mostly said that to get some points from the left/feminist side. I've noticed tends to play both sides fairly well in his joke telling, much like south park.
@kylemylo3776 the man isnt labouring for nine months to have the baby; the man is not gonna have his vagina ripped open or his stomach cut open to have the baby. The man isnt having to throw up and experience mood swings to have the baby. The man isnt having trouble walking to have the baby. The man doesnt have an uncontrollable bladder to have the baby. So, no. The man is NOT having the baby. The man just contributed to the babys existence, but he is not actually having it. Therefore, he does not have a right to withhold an abortion from a woman. If he thinks she should get one because he believes they are not ready to have a baby yet, then yes. That he may do. But he cant withhold it from her.
It makes 0 fucking sense. The baby is the priority. If the baby is wrong, the man leaving is just society failing it's primary duty of taking cary of babies. It's insane to encourage that behaviour.
Modern times are all about having adults prioritised over babies. It's insane.

As a former fetus I am all against the killing and dismembering unborn children. Abortion is the greatest evil that has ever existed. the slaughter of the innocent unborn. A full form of child cut into pieces and removed. Take them out and let them die? And, it’s done. Suck them out in little pieces while their little systems wince at the pain. If one looks at what is being done - how atrocious and cruel it really is - I believe the reality of the evil of abortion becomes self-evident. the heart God has given us as a caring human tells us it’s not only wrong, but very, very wrong and it is evil. This being the case, it doesn’t really matter what human jurisprudence says or how socially or politically acceptable abortion is. Evil is evil. Sin is sin. God’s law takes precedence. A mother who decides to abort her child is unilaterally making a decision to end another person’s life. It is a deliberate termination of a human life while it is still in the womb - and that is and always has been the definition of murder. Murder is defined as “the unlawful, premeditated killing of one human being by another.” We cannot just do whatever we want because it feels good, it’s easy, and socially accepted. Abortion can seem like a quick and easy solution to the problem of an unplanned pregnancy. But sin is never the best way. Never. Sin has eternal repercussions that it never advertises up front. Sin costs more than we want to pay and hurts more than we thought it would. When modern culture decided to separate sexuality from morality, the problems got worse. God never intended any such separation. He created sex for the marriage relationship and for children to be welcomed into that marriage. Yes, it was wrong for you to have sexual relations outside the commitment of marriage - but two wrongs don’t make a right, and it would be wrong for you to end the life of this little child. You know If you cause a pregnant woman to miscarry, killing the unborn child, you can, and probably will, be charged with murder or manslaughter. In law, this applies from conception, no restrictions. The unborn child is viewed as a human being with all those rights under law. Even if the woman didn’t know she was pregnant at the time. Consider that the difference in abortion law is purely whether the child is wanted or unwanted. How moral is that? If you don’t want the baby, you can legally kill it using what are demonstrably cruel and horrific methods. The Child doesn't get a choice because the Child is HELPLESS. Abortion reflects a worldview which is all about the self - what I want is more important than what’s right. The most innocent suffer the worst. Life is sacred from the moment of conception. A Christian by definition is a follower of Christ. Anyone claiming to be a Christian must believe as He did and live according to God’s word. NO! You cannot love Jesus and believe that killing babies is just fine. An unborn child, from the very first moment of conception, is a new human individual. It’s alive and growing and it should be treated with the same respect for its life as any other human being until its natural death. God knows us before we’re even born. How beautiful is that? He’s been there even before I can remember - from the beginning of life to the end. The Bible makes it clear that unborn children are human, alive, and loved by God just as much as we all are even as their tiny bodies are developing and growing in amazing ways. We cannot say we live for God (the Creator of life) in one breath and in the next, say it’s okay to take away another human being’s life before they have a chance to leave the womb. It is our responsibility as Christians to make choices that align with God - principles that align with our Christian values. We have to intentionally create an environment that inspires our children toward kindness and love, and toward valuing the sanctity of life. Our purpose is to shield the weak from abuse by the strong, and there is no one “weaker or more voiceless” than unborn children. Loving one’s neighbour means protecting the rights of the most vulnerable. The Bible tells us who our Creator is, what He has done, what He will do, and how He desires us to live - and provides the tools we need to accomplish that. It does not promise an easy path, but we are called as Christ followers to bring hope to a dark and broken world. but that road leads to life, not death. As Christians, we are supposed to affect the culture, not blend into it. Our actions reveal what we believe about God. If we really value life the way God values life, shouldn’t we be raising our standards instead of lowering them, regardless of the circumstances? My prayer is that you will not end the life of the little child who is growing within you. You should not have an abortion because you and your baby deserve better than that. Seek God’s answers instead. Lord Jesus, we ask You to bless and protect the children who today are in their mothers’ womb. Save them from the danger of abortion. Give their mothers the grace to sacrifice themselves, in body and soul, for their children. Father, extend Your hand of protection to those threatened by abortion, and save them from its destructive power. Give Your strength to all fathers and mothers, that they may never give in to the fears that may tempt them to facilitate abortions. Bless our families, that we may have the joy of welcoming and nurturing the life of which You are the source and the Eternal Father. Amen.
Psalm 127:3-5
"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate."

@sophiadebar382 I agree, the guy is a loser leaving his responsibility behind for society to deal with so he doesn't have to.
I actually agree with Chappelle. I've always felt that if a man doesn't want to have a child and a woman chooses to go through with the pregnancy, then the father: 1) should not be obligated to pay child support and 2) should give up his parental rights to the mother. I feel like that's only fair.
(On a completely separate note, I also think that a man should not be obligated to pay for child support if it comes to light that he is not the biological father of the child.)

@@b3at2
Obviously they mean enough for you to repeat that same post over and over.
I'm a feminist and I agree with this. My body my choice means my responsibility. If you're a strong independent woman who can make your own decisions, then you're a strong independent woman who can pay for your own decisions.
If the pregnancy was unintentional, and the woman chooses to keep the baby, and the man doesn't want to, and he makes it clear early on that he doesn't wish to be a father, and he agrees to sign over his parental rights and have no contact with the child or see the mother again, then he shouldn't be obligated to support the child financially. If you make a unilateral decision that nobody else has any control over then don't expect someone else to subsidize your decision. You can't claim to be self sufficient enough to make your own choices, but suddenly change your mind when it comes to paying for those choices.
The right to abortion does not stem from the right to give up parental responsibility, but from the right to body autonomy. It is unfair to ask of a human being to sustain another human being's life through their body. While yes, correcting that unfairness leads to the possibility for mothers getting an abortion to avoid parental responsibility, it is not the point. Now, I agree with you, parents should have the right to give up parental responsibility and there should be unconditional and strong social support for parents who do not have the resources to provide for their kids. But that should not be conditional to the right of abortion, the two issues are different.
@@arnaudnicolas2782 On the other hand, a lot of the arguments that feminists (who are surprisingly overwhelmingly opposed to the idea) use against "paper abortions" as they're called seem to be the exact same as classic pro life arguments. And I've never seen anyone show even the slightest awareness of such irony.
The main arguments are:
"He shouldn't have had sex if he didn't want a baby". That's practically what the 1940s Catholic Church says about women seeking an abortion. I'm a little surprised anyone actually thinks that's a good argument, unless they're completely incapable of holding two thoughts in their heads at once.
"He should have used a condom". Apparently condoms never fail. Which is strange because if that was true then abortion wouldn't be a thing. And a woman can also take birth control, but that's never brought up.
Of course if he DID use a condom and it broke, the classic response is "That's the risk you take when you choose to have sex". Again, this is the the 1940s Catholic Church speaking.
"He should have got a vasectomy". Because not wanting children when you're 16 and in high school is totally the same as not wanting children 10 years later when you have a job and a house. Again, a woman could also get an IUD, but once again her bad choices are never brought up.
And my personal favourite argument, "It's about what's best for the child, not what's most convenient for the parents". I'm not going to insult your intelligence by even commenting on this one.
@@arnaudnicolas2782 And strangely people DO bring up a man's responsibility when it comes to potential abortion bans. You always hear them saying things like "What if a Trump supporter gets a woman pregnant and she can't have an abortion and he gets stuck with a baby" or "Men who oppose abortion better get ready for two decades of child support". Or "If a woman can't have an abortion, then a man shouldn't be allowed to leave the woman after getting her pregnant". But that raises the obvious question, what if a woman CAN have an abortion but simply chooses not to? Should the man have to pay then? Or should he be allowed to back out just like she was (notice the words "if" and "then" appear in their statement, which makes it conditional). Because as I said earlier, a lot of people seem incapable of connecting two thoughts together. And a lot of the answers that people give involve saying that he shouldn't be allowed to "leave her to raise the child by herself" and that she shouldn't be "forced to take care of a baby alone", as if he somehow forced her to have the baby, when in reality she made "her choice" over "her body".
@@arnaudnicolas2782 So the answer is no, I'm not saying the two issues are the same. Being forced to give birth is not the same as being forced to send some money every month. Especially considering it will likely end up costing her much more money than it will cost him even if he has to pay child support. But it still doesn't excuse the hypocritical logic that people use to justify one but not the other. Which is why I would prefer to consider myself an egalitarian instead of a feminist.
Totally agree with this take. Both men and women should have the right to decide whether or not they want anything to do with it.
I think you’re missing Dave’s point. “If I’m wrong, we’re wrong. Figure that shit out yourself.” He is really saying that both the man and women are wrong because they are both not taking responsibility for their actions.

Not really - you’re making sure your child is cared for,
Jane Roe (Norma McCorvey) was 22 years old, divorced, homeless, and pregnant for the third time (she had placed her first two children for adoption). An adoption agency connected her with two young lawyers fresh out of law school who were eager to challenge the Texas statutes on abortion. McCorvey only met with her lawyers twice-once for beer and pizza, the other time to sign an affidavit (which she didn't read). In order to speed things up McCorvey lied and told them she had been raped. She never appeared in court, and she found out about the infamous ruling from the newspapers. The baby she was seeking to abort was born and placed for adoption. In February 2005, McCorvey petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the 1973 decision with McCorvey v. Hill, arguing that she had standing to do so as one of the original litigants and that the case should be heard once again in light of what she claimed was evidence that the procedure harms women. The courts, however, denied her petition. It was all based on a woman's lie. Abortion should have never been legal in the first place.

She may choose to do so - and many women have - that is their right.

My most favorite comedian ever. I can completely disagree with him on a subject and he can still make me burst out laughing
So very true. Until recently, I was against men who abandoned and/or refused to support their offspring. I was thinking only in terms of divorce or separation of the parents. It never occurred to me that there were women out there who were trying to get child support from men who fathered the child but never wanted to be a parent. Of course, it's perfectly fair for men to leave and bot pay, as long as they can accept that they have no place in the child's life. Don't come back 15 years later, full of regret and seeking a relationship with that child. If you're out, you're out. If you never paid a dime in support, you have essentially forfeited your parental rights to have any relationship with that child regardless of age.
Ladies.....keep this all in mind BEFORE you hop into bed with someone. Just saying.
That's the difference, you can't take back killing a child, abandoning a child cant be taken back either but at least the kid is alive and can possibly forgive the father
Except for it doesn't matter if a man says that, he is legally required to pay money, and the government will find him, withhold it from his paychecks and even send him to jail if he doesn't.
@@ricardoh87 So what? Let me make that equal, If the father can't be forgiven then the woman who opt for abortion shouldn't be allowed to have children anymore. Otherwise maintain a distance from father who chose to go away or make it punishable.
That's fair. You don't have to pay but you don't get time with your half of the kid.
That latter half is up to the _grown_ child, not you or a government. When that child is 18, it's up to nobody but the adult whether he wants his father to be involved or not, let's be clear on that.
