Since their return in 2011, Italy always sends quality music that mostly finished in the top 10. Even "Madness of Love", "Grande Amore", and "Soldi" finished in top 3. They don't use formula but they (mostly) succeed. One thing that I love from Italy's entries is they always send entries in Italian (fully or partly). I've been following Eurovision since 2012, the year the marvelous Loreen won with "Euphoria," and I can say without question that this 2020 entry from Italy has had the most direct, visceral effect on me of any Eurovision song I've ever heard, including many that I have loved dearly. I only heard the song for the first time a few days ago, but I haven't stopped thinking about it and hearing it in my head since. No matter how many times I watch it on CZcams, the performance by Diodato leaves me with goosebumps and in tears every time. What is it about the Italian entries? They are almost always on point emotionally and aesthetically. I don't speak a word of Italian and it doesn't even matter. I hope this one does as well as I believe it will in the Grand Final. I am now immersed in listening to everything I can find on CZcams from Diodato, and will be a fan for life no matter what happens at Eurovision 2020. -- from El Paso, Texas, USA

As an Italian I will be very happy if this song will be appreciatedall around Europe. Diodato surely put a lot of feelings in this, and I find the song very emotional and intimate. I don't think we will be on the podium again, to be honest, because power ballads are more appealing to juries and less to televoters. But the most important thing is spreading our music around Europe and making Europe know about our great singers. This is the most important thing and feels like a way, no matter the final result.

As Sabrina said, Sanremo came before ESC and it's a massive national festival and the song that wins is not connected with ESC. It's NOT chosen for ESC, it's just a consequence. And to be honest, Italy doesn't win even when it deserves it with hight quality songs, so yeah we will have a classic Italian ballad, we won't win but we wouldn't win either, so at least it's an excellent quality song and Italy will be, again, the only nation singing in its beautiful language.

This reminds me of Greece in 2018 in the sense that I think this is a song that has a deep meaning for the Italian people and for those who get Italian ballads (and for that reason I'm happy it was picked even though aside from the chorus it hasn't gripped me yet). Whether it will perform as strong at Eurovision for a broader public will depend on how many other ballads we get this year, together with how well the staging conveys the message of the song.

"You make noise" is the literal translation, but that probably doesn't convey what it does in Italian at all. "You cause turmoil" would be much closer to the idea of the song although it would take away the word play which makes the title meaningful

My main concern is that since Duncan won last year with Arcade, which was essentially a ballad, this year many (especially among the juries) will vote for something different, more "fresh" and joyful. I might be wrong, but this is a trend I've noticed every year since I started watching Eurovision back in 2014 (not that long ago, so I might not be 100% correct)..
Also I feel like this song is nowhere near as touching and soulful as Arcade, nor is it powerful/elegant as other "classical" Italian entries like Grande Amore or L'Essenziale...

If they thought for a second, they'd figure out it's VERY unlikely that it wins, the vibes are way too similar to Duncan's song that won last year. And usually (tell me if I'm wrong) a man wins the year, then a woman, it's has been like this for a while, right?

I like this song and it may do well in Rotterdam..however, I'd say there were far more interesting songs, such as Andromeda by Elodie, Eden by Rancore (who won a special prize for the wording), and Ringo Star by Pinguini Tattici Nucleari (tactical Nuclear Penguins). Even Achille Lauro's performances were so interesting with his references of Saint Francis, Ziggy Stardust, the divine Marquise Casati Stampa and Queen Elizabeth I. Not only a song, but a tale, theatre, a bold way to covey a message of freedom and fluidity, of being who you are regardless the labels (bold for the traditional "old" audience of Sanremo of course). If you all happen to watch Achille's performances, I'd suggest watching ALL perfomarnces: all different, all being and extra step bolder, especially in the relationship with his guitarist Boss Doms.

    You know what I think,

    But maybe it's this storm
    Which brings me to you,
    And I know I shouldn't be found
    Without an umbrella though
    I understand that
    However much I run away
I always come back to you
    What are you making here,
And I don't know if it does me good,
    If your noise suits me,
    But make noise yes,
    That I can't stand it
    This unnatural silence
    Between me and you.
And I go around without talking,
    With no place to get,
    I wear my shoes
    And maybe my shoes
    They know where to go,
That I find myself in the same places,
Just those places I had to avoid,
    And I pretend I don't remember,
    And I pretend to forget,
    But I understand that,

I always come back to you

Diodato is going to bring some magic and passion to this festival, something that it miss since long time. This is not a Eurovision's song but hopefully he will touch Europeans heart just with simplicity of the Italian style.
