Die FG wat ek gemaak het van my backing na my mainline het baie mooi uitgedraai, maar die braided leader na mainline lyk vir my baie bulky. kan mens die knoop reverse en die maainline op die leader opwen of gaan daar probleme wees as ek dit so om doen? ek dink die knoop sal net baie mooier lyk as ek die 30lb op die leader opwen in plaas van die normale nanier. Hi there.. Awesome videos. Just a quick question. Do you tie mono leader onto the braid leader as well? I found that when I tie a 0.80 leader mono onto my 120 braid leader it doesn't go through the guides well.

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks...no your braided leader should go directly to your trace...if you are not throwing a full metal you can add a piece of mono above your trace but only like 1m so that it does not go through your guides.

      @riyaazarendsefwfs7220 Před 4 lety +1

      @@zoolookfishing Thanks allot.... I only fish edibles so I must tie my braid leader straight to my trace then. What is a full metal?You said if I'm not throwing a full metal I must use mono leader on to the braid leader?

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  Před 4 lety +1

      No a full metal is for sharks. If you are fishing edibles add about 1m to1.2m of mono above your trace. That is attached to your braided leader but this piece of mono above your trace should not go through your guides..adapt the length of the piece of mono to suite your casting style the longer your drop is when you cast the longer you can make that mono section if you cast with a short drop make that piece of mono above your trace shorter so that the knot or swivel, depending on what you use is as close as possible as your tip ring but does not go into your guides.

    FMJ shark trace connected to a 180lb braided leader (knot?), then 180lb braided leader connected to 80 lb topshot with fg, then 80 lb braided topshot connects to 65 lb braided backing, around 600 yards?

    • @mikem9727
      @mikem9727 Před 4 lety

      Just curious if you have ever tried using heavy mono on the top portion of your trace. Example starting from hook: circle hook connected with snell knot to coated cable, 3 to 4 feet. Then cable is connected by swivel to upper portion of trace which is 400 lb mono, 8 or 9 feet. The 400 mono is connected to mainline by an fg knot. The leader is able to be reeled onto the rod and casted through the guides.

    • @ZendonVerster
      @ZendonVerster Před 5 lety

      Watch the part at 10:30 again he says its to save time by only making one knot instead of two when replacing topshot... I would also assume it adds some suppleness. so 600m of 50lb - fg knot to 30cm length of 200lb - fig to 300m 50lb topshot, or however you like to fish.

    • @ZendonVerster
      @ZendonVerster Před 5 lety +2

      On why 2 FG knots... FG is normally used for joining thin braid to thicker leader as the line tightens on the thicker more rigid line under tension. the 200lb braid is probably the thickness that he feels comfortable with that rigid enough.

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  Před 5 lety +1

      The fg tightens better from a thin braid to a thicker braid. Grips much better. Backing on that reel is 65lbs braid and the topshot is 80lbs braid as n mention in the video. That 30cm section will only ever leave your reel when you are hooked into a large shark that's why I want maximum strength as you will need to apply a lot of pressure. Hope it makes sense.

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks! Tying a fg on the same diameter line isn't as strong as tying it from n thin diameter to a thicker diameter.
