Partner I just buried my father a couple of weeks ago and I was right by his side during two stints with stage 4 lung & prostate cancer. He was my best friend & true hero in my life so I just don’t know how you move forward without him.
I know exactly what you mean about being lost. But give it time and you will eventually be able to get back into the swing if things. My Daddy passed in 2007, it hurt like hell, but made it through and so will you. Life comes at us wide open and pretty soon there will be things to think about other than life. I still miss him much, but now that I am retired I can appreciate his life and what he did for my family. He will always be in your heart.
My granddad lived to be 98, never ate a lick of carbs, and followed a high-fat diet all the way. There is something to be said for diets that mirror how we ate for 2.5 million years before commercially manufactured food.
If you've spent anytime wrenching you know that procedure in the shop manual, is a lot of "pie in the sky." Repairs almost never follow the shop manual. There's a lot of in between lines of dealing with rusted or rounded off bolts, welded on after market attachments that block access, and dealing with THAT stuff is the measure of a true mechanic. Warren is a great problem solver. He's got an encyclopedia of experience to lean on, but what he's really got is a never give up attitude. When some idea doesn't work, it's never the end. His gears keep turning in his head and he always figures out a new plan. I know too many young guys who should watch these videos for a lesson in "stick to it 'ness." If it doesn't fall together in their lap they're ready to give up. I think that's the real lesson in Warren's postings.
Warren, your mechanical experience is so invaluable. It’s really a shame today that the younger generation has no desire to learn your trade. Knowledge is power and the experience you possess is impressive..all the old school tricks to making the job easier, or knowing those things the books don’t tell you..keep up the excellent work..🇺🇸👊🏻

Did steering clutches on a D4D very similar to this one. First time doing it, your videos were a big help. Just got it running this past weekend, operates great, now to do fuel filters etc. before it goes to work
Warren, I have noticed that the bigger the problem, the more you seem enjoy the project, which makes for good content, nice job getting the housing out. As far a person dying, I lost my dad to Gaul bladder cancer a number of years ago, but he was a smoker, he acquired the habit in the 2nd world war in the Pacific theater. He smoked until he saw them taking his neighbor out of his house on a stretcher with a lite cigarette in one hand and the medics with a oxygen mask on his face and him complaining he had to have a smoke, they took the smoke away from him, when my dad saw that he went home and threw his all away, 10years later he passed on. When your time is up, it is up, and not a thing you can do about it. Thanks for the video, I appreciate the effort you put into your videos.
I don’t know how you do it Warren. I recorded the removal of my Deere 450c injection pump to post on my channel and what a pita it is to get a good shot of what you’re doing. My hats off. And the pump is off to Area Diesel service. I only needed to replace the flex ring but I don’t even want to mess with it after watching your videos on Stanadyne pumps.
Working hard everyday and not sitting around will keep you alive man I'm a firm believer, my dad 80 years old ran a diesel shop and worked on heavy equipment , still out in the shop everyday doing something hasn't slowed down
It’s a good feeling when you earn a customers trust and business. I work on outdoor power equipment and I had dozen chainsaws come in from the local DNR branch. I work on everything as if it was my own machine. They were so happy, they started bringing me ALL their equipment and I also got the business from the other DNR offices and many other local government agencies. It’s a good feeling to know you’re trusted for doing good work. That outfit knows you do exceptional work and they trust you to get it done right and not take them for a ride.

I just successfully completed treatment for throat cancer. The oncologist told me that whether or not a person gets cancer is in your DNA. What a person does, or doesn't do is what triggers the cancer cells to grow out of control. We all have cancer cells in us.

My dad past away 2 days before Christmas 2023,,I had a falling out with him 15 years ago and we never spoke again,,In the last 10 years of his life he and his younger brother drank themselves to death,,And that was never like my father was,,The rest of his brothers and sisters did an intervention to try save both of them,,They were so bad that they were pissing in a bucket and the apartment was full of cockroaches ,,He was only 7 stone when they got him to hospital,,They managed to get in touch with me as I was in a different part of the country,,In Ireland,,,,,,But he passed before I got there ,,And I never got to tell him that I loved him ,,Stubbornness over something insignificant kept us apart,,Now I must live with that the rest of my life,,Alcohol took my father and my mother from me,,His brother survived and he is doing ok,,But he will need rehabilitation ,,Don't let petty shit keep you from your family,,They may be gone tomorrow ,,And then it's to late,,swallow your pride and call them up,,Tell them how you feel,,Don't have regrets like me..
Like an old boss once told me " I don't want to hear about the labor pains, I just want to see the baby ". No one cares about what you have to go through to get the job done, they just want you to get it done.😊😊😊
Warren,I remember learning from you,I keep thinkin about a nut welded on bad bolt head? ……..Well glad you got that bolt out, I don’t have a 1 in gun,and surely that’s what it took( with heat) to get that baby,I do use my 3/4 gun often,but with my tractors,that and a little heat always has been completed,missed for a week,I won’t miss you on the next vid.
I think that CAT seal is meant to seal right on the crank without the wear sleeve but I’m sure you have seen that before. And those rear structure gaskets it seems like they always make them long so that when you have the oil pan off, you can shave it flush and then put your oil pan on. That’s usually what I’ve seen. I’ve been watching you for the last 6 months 🤔 and it’s been entertaining to say the least 😁, I went on a road trip in December with my 2 adult children 29 & 27 we drove from Seattle to Texas via the pacific coast hwy and passed through Oregon ( your located in Oregon right?) and thought about dropping by to shoot the breeze but figured you probably didn’t want anyone bothering you based on the work ethic I’ve seen in your videos 💪🏽👍🏼. I’m a welder/ machinist by trade and have and mobile service like you so I get the crunch times of our schedules. I’ve been under and around A LOT of heavy equipment laying on pallets in the rain under D9 dozers welding stuff so that they can pull the machine out of some ditch the operator claims he didn’t see 🥸. So maybe not exactly what you deal with but similar, I was in the military as a heavy equipment mechanic but I don’t do any of that now and watching you work on this dozer removing that bell housing reminds me why😁. THANKS for sharing your videos and putting up with a bunch of stupid comments about what you should do and how you should do things from people that have NO IDEA about anything you do. I so far survived two types of cancer, been struck by lightning twice, been run over, shot at and missed, shit at an been hit however I'm still riding the planet. When sole working you just dont realise on how long you fight to get stubborn bolts out. Been there myself. You slide underneath one of those hulks. Start hammerin away then when you slide back out.. its going dark. But theres one smell i alwaya remember. Thats the smell of oil grease mud and earth from underneath a dozer. Once smelt you never forget it.
I agree about all the stuff on the crawler, it looks like a giant rats nest. Daddy passed in 2007, and I am glad he didn't live to see the mess that has become our country. Stay safe.
Warren I see you struggling with gearboxes and other heavy equipment crawling under things and was wondering why you don’t have a access pit in your workshop it’s sure to make life easier
