Mlb umpire union needs to be investigated on why they protect and promote someone who is actively ruining the sport
what is truly wild is according to the metrics he's held to, he did the right thing. When you establish a strike zone, you're not supposed to deviate from it. According to his criteria he did what he was supposed to. They need to change that.
Why does he have to be a home plate umpire? If the union protects his job of being an umpire, fine. But have him just be a first, second, or third base umpire.

My man Wyatt Langford suffered through a burst testicle last season (and played through the end of the game) the man is tough as nails mentally and physically.
Good information, did not know that. But for him to be that calm on something soooo outrageously wrong was absolutely impressive!
Besides having an insane mental and physical fortitude, it's clear it's just sad inward acceptance of playing a game while angel is umping.

The first two were pretty standard bad umpiring, but that last pitch was completely insane.
There's no reason umpires even need to call balls and strikes anymore. A laser box could have 100% accuracy every at bat.

It's where he sets up. Back in the late 80s early 90s that's how umpires were taught to set up to see the pitch. He doesn't follow the catcher the way that the newer trained ( and more effective umpires) have been taught to do.
It's not an excuse to not keep up on the training, but Hernandez and C.B. Bucknor are from the same school and both are absolutely dog waste on calling the edges accurately.

The union makes it virtually impossible for him or most umpires to be fired for being bad at their job. He's terrible, but he's not bottom of the league for any metric for umpires SOMEHOW. so if they did fire him for being had, he'd have a ton of evidence to use to back up his claims when he sues them for discrimination or..any other number of stupid reasons. It's more trouble than it's worth for corporate, which unfortunately affects the integrity of any game he calls.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that strike 3 was the worst missed call in history based on how far away from the strike zone it was, I think it was somewhere between 6-7 inches outside. Again I’m not completely sure I just thought I saw something about it

Angel Hernandez having this long of a career is a great example of MLB's incompetence. He's not THE reason why the MLB has lost so much popularity over the years, but he's a reflection of it. Would the NFL ever have a referee so infamous that even casual fans knew his name? Of course not.

It appeared to me that some of those terrible calls crossed the plate from right to left and were caught outside but they did cross the plate

Definitely an in-depth investigation needs to be done as to why Angel has held his job as umpire, at the highest level of competitive ball, for what is now an insulting 32nd year of employment.
