Not even close to his worst 10. Granted, you have thousands to choose from.
Some of them aren't even the wrong call! Number 6 was a great call on a ball that just missed the corner. Number 4 was pretty close to the corner too. Wrong call, but just barely. Umps miss calls like that literally every game.
Angel Hernandez sucks! How can one of his 'worst' calls be right?
I'd rather have Angel Hernandez back in MLB than let the person who edited this be a Little League Umpire.
Yep, not even close
All three of those were sweeping curve balls that possibly crossed the plate at some point.
Angel Hernandez's retirement came after a meeting with Michael Hill, the Senior Vice President of On-Field Operations had him questioning Hernandez's ability to see and comprehend correctly. Angel got so worked up that he stormed out and slammed the door behind himself. It took Angel 10 minutes to realize he was in the closet...His announcement of retirement came soon after.
He died in the closet, refusing to take back his bad call
Lol😂
For the first two lines I thought you actually had some intel there lol.
Blame MLB for not having the decency to fire him.
umpire's union; TLDR they couldn't fire him. instead he went into what i've called his "Refirement"
He had two unsuccessful law suits against MLB, claiming it was racism that was keeping him out of bigger games.
That’s why he added that BS to his retirement statement, and it’s probably why they couldn’t fire him so fast.
Not that simple
I fing hate that response. They are a hundred million dollar business. Fire every single ump, or cancel their contract and hire new ones. There are hundreds of them ready and willing to ump for 200k a year instead of pocket change in colleges
@@vissermatt1058As an NFL fan I promise you you don’t want replacement refs. It can get much worse I promise.
Years from now kids will wonder why a bad call anywhere on the field is called an "angel".
Ha!
Lol. Angel is comically bad. Has anyone ever investigated his betting history?
On the same note, the most miserable women in the US are ironically named Joy (Reid, Behar), Sonny, and Whoopi!
Lol
That's a good one
Angel Hernandez being allowed to be an Umpire for as long as he was is the exact reason I will not be upset when the Robo Umpire comes.
The Umpires Union and the Umpires themselves have brought this on themselves because they refused to hold terrible Umpires like Angel Hernandez accountable for all their bad calls.
I honestly want to disagree with you. In the end, it isn't possible. This is what the umpires wanted, so give it to them.
I agree. Unions should be ok with up to 5% of employees being fired every year for performance reasons... In the end the union would be stronger because it would no longer have to defend bad employees from the consequences of their actions.
Amen!!!
Nobody is going to miss him.
Well, people that make videos about Angel Hernandez will miss him I suppose eh? lol
Anyway eff that guy :D
Nice compilation but the music is really annoying.
And the flashing number at the beginning made it hard to see the pitch. You had to look quick.
My favorite will always be Schwarber, he was clearly pointing that Angel was missing calls on for both teams 😂
It is a shame he never umpired a Billy Martin game.
As much as I love Billy I would love to have seen him umpire a game with Earl Weaver as well.
@@christopherneyfeldt4587 You're here for one reason Angel! Oh yeah, and what's that Earl? Just to fuck us good!!!
That would have been glorious!
@christopherneyfeldt4587 I was going to say the same thing. Seeing Hernandez vs Weaver would have been glorious!
Or an Earl Weaver's for that same matter, he was just as nasty and nean to umps as Billy Martin was.
Sometimes even worse
re: the Schwarber toss--you know it's bad when the player says Angel sucked for both teams.
Top 1000 would've been better, but we don't need a video that would take five days to watch.
You have to have the time the Indians were playing the Athletics and there was a homerun that hit the railing above the fence then fell back into play. Even in real time it was obvious to everyone except Angel, who ruled it was a double. Oakland challenged, saying it was a home run. This was one of the earlier years of instant replay where the crew reviews their own calls. Even with the benefit of slow-mo instant replay, Angel ruled double again and Oakland went insane. It was after this MLB changed the replay rule where the MLB in New York reviews the challenged calls.
Dude next time you make a vidoe like this please dont add music
Or the huge ass text blocking the replays
He's the REAL Enrique Pallazzo/Frank Drebin of MLB
Did he ever pull a gun on the rightfielder?
lol!!
Ding dong the wicked ump is gone! Let's all celebrate A H retirement.
Harper walking up the 3rd base line just has me cracking up 😂
Best call: Retiring
You sure he didn't miss that one 100 times before getting it?
A lethal combination of incompetence and arrogance. That’s Angel Hernandez.
Umpires have way to much liberty when it comes to tossing people
music is too loud - needs to be remixed or just cut out the stupid free file tunes
Jermaine Dye beating it out at first and Angel missing it with Hawk yelling should have been included
Props to the editor that sifted through thousands of hours of bad calls to narrow this down to 10. Should be an Academy Award for that kind of dedication.
You could easily do a top 100 for Angel Hernandez
Ok, Number 1 he actually got RIGHT!! Batter made No Attempt to Avoid the Pitch! He rightfully called him out
#4 he got right. It did touch the corner. The chart even showed it
Yeah, he was terrible but in the blind squirrel finding an acorn you do have to give him credit when he was right.
Revisionist Astros hate is real.
@@JVTrickypants he's like a stopped clock
In Angel’s defence, maybe he has an unknown/undiagnosed vision problem that distorts what he sees - particularly for objects in motion. I know from experience that it is possible although I would assume that MLB does have some objective and ongoing testing regime for umpires.
Everybody who watched this better give credit to the man who put this video together. Do you know how many dozens of hours of bad calls he had to go through to pick 10? Much respect my friend.
It makes you wonder how many monthly mortgage checks Hernandez had bet on the games he was calling????
I thought the same thing all these years.
You could fill the Encyclopedia Britannica with Angel Hernandez bad calls from his 30 years of umpiring.
Okay I want to point something out on play number 7. There was a balk call that was missed...however that really isn't Angel's call to make as he is focusing on the pitch to call the strikes and balls. That is on the first base up. The strike call, while high, can be called since it was over the plate since the batter disengaged from his stance, changing the strike zone. I actually think this is more on the first base ump rather than Angel. I think to replace this, you should have the mess ups in the playoffs where he had three calls ever turned. Two were really close and could easily be missed but there was one that was really bad and deserves to see him grilled.
My favorite is the three botched calls in one inning-while he was at first base.
Very early in Angels career, I watched him yelling at the pitcher in a T-ball game. He was umpiring. It was crazy.
After every controversial call, he yells “that’s what you get for looking at my wife!”
Agreed. Worst 10....and there are a couple calls in here that were correct...so how could it be his worst 10. Pretty sad list.
You could do a top ten bad calls on individual players
Schwarber's only number 3?? Got to be number 1.
I am going to presume that #1 was a call that the batter did not make an effort to get out of the way of the pitch; which he did not. So, in the top 10 worst Angel Hernandez calls #1 is one he got right.
I have to agree. Even as a little league ump, I knew that there had to be an effort to get out of the way of the ball in order to be awarded first base. To my untrained eye, the batter did not.
If someone here wants to dispute that, I'm fine with that. This IS Angel Hernandez we are talking about, after all...
Maury Povich's doppelganger was the worst umpire ever, lol
Back in '22, Ohtani threw a middle-middle curve ball and Angel called a ball on that. There was at least one or two more bad call(s) during that inning against Ohtani, IIRC. The batter subsequently drove in a run and the next batter drove in another with Ohtani apparently flustered from the whole ordeal and ruined Ohtani's consecutive scoreless innings streak and cost him a win on the mound and in the final score.
The whole world's glad you're gone, Angel.
#4 wasnt that bad idk why its on here, he easily has way worse calls but I guess you got lazy with this top 10
The team managers should be able to look at these terrible calls and eject these umpires.
Missed the White Sox game where he called a runner out at 1st base on a double play. Runner was safe by a mile and the run wouldve scored to end the game.
You can make a 10-worst call list for any MLB umpire who has worked 10 years or more.
They really need robo-umpires for balls and strikes.
8 is my favorite but the guy in 3 was so demonstrative he could have acted in silent films
4:10 The pitcher's face- he can't believe he got the call!
Just ten?? You could make a movie about all his calls.
That very first clip is absolutely disgusting
If he had any other job (office, fast food) whatever, he’d have been fired years ago.
😂 true
Angel dropped more calls than AT&T
Top 10?! You could do top 1000!
Some of these weren't that bad... dig a little deeper my friend.
Does MLB ever pull Angel aside and say, dude, you are susceptible to pitch framing?
No because then angel would sue the, for discrimination.
Of all of these 2:15 is the worst, because Angel was actually really good at getting balks. I mean, three other guys missed it, too, which is also surprising, but Angel missing a super blatant one like that is weird.
You could find a top 10 in every game
*#4 was actually a rare correct call.* 😂
He was guessing on most of his strike calls.
Need to update this list about every 10 days or so
If you can be fooled by the catcher framing the pitch you you have no business bringing a umpire
And its not even that he was so terrible, which he was. It was that after he threw somebody out, he always sat there with that super satisfied look like, yeah I just did that I'm so cool. It is an absolute miracle nobody hit him before
That performance in the 2018 ALDS should be number 1.
The one on Torkelson this season was atrocious
Come on... Angel's top 10 worst calls includes a pair he actually managed to get correct (#1, #4), completely neglects getting 4 straight calls overturned in the playoffs?
Globalists that fix games will miss him.
3 was so legendary bad cuz Schwarber was speaking for both teams that night, man am I glad Angel retired
The sad irony is, you could do a top 100 video on this subject, and find 10,000 more honorable mentions.
Why is there a call on this list that the announcer admits "got the inside part of the plate"?
Where are the three calls at first base in one game that Angel made that were overturned by replay? That has to be high on this list.
Of the hundreds of blown calls from this guy's career, these are the 10 worst?
Why did the MLB get rid of angel Hernandez years ago they as blind as he was
As we get closer to #1 they get closer to the strike zone. Some of these catch the corner. This is a bad list
I saw four here that might break the top 15. Most we’re not even in his top 100 worse
Whoever put this together needs their eyes checked. There were multiple correct calls and several others that were tough calls.
The dude umpired for over 30 years, and sucked the whole time.
And somehow you didnt even manage to find ten incorrect calls...
Even your number one was a great call! Batter stuck his leg out to purposefully get hit by a pitch.
A blind dog could have done a better job putting this together. You managed to make ANGEL HERNANDEZ look like a good umpire. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Happ threw one of the best pitches I’ve ever seen and Angel was clearly upset about it.
Do a video on the Top Ten times Patrick Ewing disappeared in the 4th quarter of key games with the NY Knicks.
The Music is very sarcastic.
Imagine if pilots were this bad at their job
A lot of this, I think, is coordinated by someone at the top of MLB. You don't see this against any other umpires. You can make any MLB umpire look like crap by just focusing on their mistakes and they each make their share of mistakes.
The problem was that his hat was to tight and it cut off the blood to his brain.
Somebody needs to go through and see which team benefited the most from his hundreds of thousand blown calls
He killed the love of baseball games. Why he remained umpiring games is beyond me after all this time. He should be called "Devil Hernandez" instead of "Angel Hernandez".
Missing is the strike out of Giants Wilmer Flores in bottom of ninth on a clearly held swing which gave the game and the series to the Dodgers 4 years ago. Just pathetic.
Angel Hernandez retiring made the baseball world a better place.
#1 (if he called that a ball and did NOT give the batter 1st base...which is teh only thing I can imagine since the Braves Manager was bitching) was correct. Batter moved right into that pitch. Your number 1 worst call was correct.
The top 4 of these are not nearly as bad as the bottom 4. The 3 pitches by France at #10 should be #1. And there’s a video floating around of a pitch in Toronto that was thigh-high, dead center of the plate… Angel called it a ball. Worse than all of these.
The music is not only inappropriate but much too loud, the graphics are extremely distracting, and the selection of calls is very questionable.
These 10 are not even close to his worst 10. That one playoff game when he had 4 calls reversed on a challenge are 4 of the possible 10
Angel is the greatest umpire ever, we're going to miss him
Why are the Brewers the opposing team in a lot of these calls
4 and 1 he got right. A couple of the others were borderline.
People loathed this man for many reasons, and it’s not that hard to speculate.
Coincidence he retires when there is an Umpire under the thumb for betting🤔
Well fuck me, it’s Bryce Harper souvenir helmet day at the Vet!
Hader knew he missed
He has way more than 10
The worse. If they call you the angel hernandez of your chosen profession. .it's not a good thing
#4 wasn’t horrible. Pretty close call there.
Rule changes made the game easier to watch. It just became even easier.
You could fill half of CZcams with clips of Angels bad calls
#3, that wasn't even his worst call that game. Earlier in the game he called a strike on Jean Segura with the bases loaded that was a knuckle burner which forced Segura to swing at crap the rest of the at bat. #4, if we're being fair wasn't a horrible call. Not as egregious as #5. and #8, when Harper tossed his helmet into the stands, the kid who caught it, Harper signed it for him.
#4 was a strike
