MLB | Worst Strike Calls EVER

- Absolutely terrible calls made by home plate umpires including Laz Díaz, Ángel Hernández, and C.B. Bucknor. These are some of the worst strike calls ever, and players like Shohei Ohtani, Kyle Schwarber, and Bo Bichette had the bat taken out of their hands.
#MLB #Highlights #UmpShow - Sport
I started counting how many of these were Angel Hernandez, but I got tired of counting.
i think i counted 10
Buckner & angel made up about 3/4 of the video lol
Most of these were not angel hernandez, though
Meanwhile angel thinks it’s a racial issue he can’t call World Series games, bc he doesn’t even know where the strike zone is
Oh you were counting...? That's it, you're gone!!
-Angel Hernandez
The fact that there's zero accountability for these horrible umpires is mind numbing
They get graded. That's a key metric in whether or not they work playoffs or WS games.
@@coachwilson5967 They shouldn't work in ANY games, not behind home plate
@coachwilson5967 ah yes, the grading system, that is working wonderfully to make the umpires accountable for a horrible job
Some bad calls yes, but who exactly are you replacing them with? Triple A umps aren’t gonna be any better
@andrewreid895 can't be any worse than angel hernandez and cb Buckner
you know your call is bad when ohtani disagrees cause this dude takes calls on the chin

5:20 You know it's an awful "strike" call when the pitcher is genuinely surprised.
ok calls that are touching the line can’t be considered “worst calls of all time”
I was about to say that
Relax guys. It's called hyperbole 🤣 All these pitcgrs are from recent years as well, So I think the OP knows that it's not literally the worst calls ever
Most of these are not close and not touching the line
When they're paid $245K to start as rookie umps, that opens the door to the recriminations.
@@jamesoliver6625no. No it doesn’t. That’s a stupid standard.
You know you're in for a treat when *both* Angel Hernandez and CB Bucknor have their own segment.
This is how every pro sport is rigged
アメリカの審判は職権乱用しすぎ。
自分達は神様だ!と古い慣習がまだ蔓延っている。
“he never had a chance in that at bat.” & “strike 3 called! if you say so!” made me belly laugh
5:12 is nothing but the ump being ready to get off the field inexcusable
Even Joe Nathan was in disbelief haha.
Yeah it was a full count and the pitcher instantly knew it was going to miss low and outside based on his reaction - and then he gets a strike lol
Way low and outside...wow
Sometimes I think they need to send umpires down to the minors based on performance like the players do... Some of these are brutal
You can thank unions for fucking this up. Same thing happens with road work.
Whenever Angel Hernandez is behind the plate and you're got 2 strikes, you know the next pitch is going to be a strike no matter where it is. He just likes to call strike 3 so he can look cool.
Which is ironic, because his strike call looks absurd!
strike!!🤜👉batter out!😤
Pitcher in an 0 and 2 count: spikes the ball into the dirt and bounces it right over Angel's head.
Angel: "Yup, looked like strike 3 to me!"
Angel Hernandez thought that the naked gun umpire scene was a training video.
3:37 he called that a strike purely because Chisholm bat flipped the obvious ball 4/walk.
Horrible umpiring.
That’s the kind of stuff I think umps should get fined for. So what if the player does that? A ball is a ball.
My thoughts exactly. For starters, Chisholm just plays with some flare and swagger. If he's showing up anybody, If you even want to call it that, He's clearly doing it towards the pitcher and not showboating the umpire. These guys are so sensitive though that they have some arbitrary code for how the game should be played
@@anthonyvega-fujioka4464so you’re blind
How are theses not umping HS baseball.
This video should just be titled Angel Hernandez best calls
Unsurprisingly, alot of Angel Hernandez calls there. And he wonders why his discrimination lawsuit, which he filed because he hasn't been assigned to a World Series in a while, was dismissed.
Always think about that. He should have been embarrassed that the league argued he was to incompetent to work the post season.
He has no shame over how bad he is.
Angel Hernandez we will never see the end of him really
I think we actually have. I don't think I've seen him umpire a game in months
@@leifopstad2972 He has made some terrible calls on bags too .... but thankfully that is usually re - playable.
@@leifopstad2972 He's rehabbing in the minors now.
@@shji-kk3xs hahaha thanks for the laugh - there is no way you can rehabbing this guy - he is blind nothing you can do
@@claude122 he is actually rehabbing in the minors, unfortunately. mlb doesn’t care about how bad their umpires are.
I think it would be a great idea if the MLB offered Angel Hernandez a bunch of money to retire.
C.B. as well..And don't forget Diaz...
Nathans strikeout has to be one of - if not, the worst call in MLB History
10 minute Angel Hernandez highlight reel.
When the call is so bad that the batter is too shocked to be angry, you know it wasn’t even close.
Every one of the pitchers' faces tells you they know they got away with one lol
That is the funniest part of these videos when you see the pitcher and other players doing the "woah" face .
The Rangers pitcher was like wow.😂
@@nukeboy4939 the ball almost bounce on the dirt xD guess its low xD
I pitched a lot and you don't want to telegraph your delight with the generous strike zone or else the ump might retaliate by calling some balls that are hitting the strike zone - kind of like how umps call strikes against batters showing them up at the plate.
Pitcher: Was that pitch too high or too wide? Ump: It was too in the middle.
5:13 I've seen a lot of bad called 3rd strikes, but this is by far the worst
You can see the pitcher say wow that’s how bad the call was
Outside ball fo, called strike 3.
Holy shit thats bad😂
Angel Hernandez the kinda guy to watch the film afterwards and still not see anything wrong
I bet Ohtani said, "You better give me that pitch".
the technology is here to call balls & strikes with much greater accuracy then humans. 99.4% accuracy. Just MLB refuses to use it. 😢
Baseball could use a version of VAR used in soccer. A 2nd home plate ump could overrule the active ump to prevent these kind of bad calls.
May I introduce the Angel Hernandez compilation everyone
Another Angel Hernandez highlight reel😂
the catcher framed the last pitch in the vid perfectly haha. tough call for the ump there to be fair
not a tough call for robo umps
The very first call with Kyle Schwarber’s reaction is amazing 😂 felt his pain but at least he got that frustration off his chest
my question is how do you collect all these calls from various games, teams , seasons? That would be quite a library and search
I’ll always still remember playing ball and I’m up to bat. Pitch goes down the middle for what I thought was strike 3. I started walking to the dugout and it was called a ball. Trust me I was in shock lol
My question is, if we are capable of mapping whether a pitch is a strike or ball in real time like they do in these videos. Why even rely on an umpire that brings in such a high margin of error?
Cause they wanna rigg not only matches but stats too.
Hader just wincing whilst looking away lol
Bruh the pitchers face after the first clip lmao.
You know you’ve made an outrageous call when the person the call is benefiting goes “WOW”
Every time an ump gives the "toss" gesture to a player after they react to a bad call, I always want to see the player make the "toss" gesture right back at them lol.
This is basically a angel Hernandez highlight reel 😂
That shows anyone can be an umpire, all you have to do is close your eyes and hide behind the batter and call it whatever you want.
Angel binge watches these videos moments before he tucks himself to sleep. 😴
So as a catcher in little league "framing" the pitch was something i work on a lot. I feel like the catchers influenced a few of those calls, some of those were just absurd tho.
7:39
“NO FUCKIN WAY, GOD DAMN IT”
Bro was on the verge of ejection
So many of these the umpire's head starts nowhere near the center of the plate. You'd think they should all have to so that they're looking at it dead on
I understand hitting the box but ones that aren't even near that box is crazy and the batters have all tge right to get angry even the pitchers when it's clearley in the strike zone.
I get missing tight calls, we're all human and the catcher is usually in the way on purpose but when you miss a call so bad that the announcer AND the SCOREBOARD changes to your call, you can just say "oh god my bad lets get a replay please"
4:30
"Come on George. We will get them with the trashcans."
The amazing thing is that most of these are from the first half of this season alone.
The fact that most of these are angel Hernandez 💀😂
I think it’s hilarious how Angel Hernandez sues because he thinks it’s because of his race that he’s not getting promoted. MLB won’t tell him that it’s because he’s the worst umpire ever
With all the technical stuff they have to mark where in the strike zone a pitch goes in real time, why in the hell are they still letting a person make these calls? Why do that?
I agree.
Eventually this video turned into the Angel Hernandez Show.
What are the official MLB protocols for reviewing particular calls and/or the performance of particular umpires who have made multiple calls which are clearly incorrect?
Any video with this title that does not include Livan Hernandez in the 1997 world series is misnamed. He was getting calls that were half a foot off the plate.
Yo those pitches right down the middle that are called Balls are WILD. 😮
The MLB needs to have computers call balls and strikes. These umpires are what's ruining the game
Note how many of the $hit calls are from Hernandez. Horrible umpire. Also note the number of times an umpire rings up a player is with the count full and the player knows it is a ball and starts heading to first. It's like the umpire does not want you to be calling the balls and strikes so he will call you out if you start heading to first.
It’s simple. See ball hit ball.
You’re only going to get one good pitch per AB. When a hitter has 2 on ‘em, you have to shorten up and protect. Don’t leave strike 3 up to ‘Blue’.
Most, but not all, of the called 3rd strike looking, were close enough for the hitter to make an attempt.
And, a lot of nobody’s begging for calls. As a hitter and pitcher, you’d better have proven you deserve the corners. Unless Angel Hernandez is behind the plate.
Then, protect your ass.
In an ideal world, umpires and referees should be anonymous. It's so telling that Angel Hernandez is so notoriously bad that people know him by name.
Computerized home plate umpires are needed for horrible calls like these, especially during the playoffs.
Maybe in the playoffs, but I don’t think in the regular season.
Shwarber had been getting screwed all night in that game
Too bad this was too early to include the pitch to Wyatt Langford the other night
That’s what I was thinking!
With a lot of these, it's at the end of the game and the ump just wants to go home.
Schwarber going to battle with Angel Hernandez on behalf of both teams is legendary.
5:20 might be the worst call I’ve ever seen in my entire life. 😂😂
5:15 THEE worse called strike of all time. Even the pitcher thought it was a ball lol
How many of these were Hernandez 😂😂😂
That sound dro at 7:40 😅
These guys are human like everybody else and I get that. There's going to be mistakes made. But some of them are just so ridiculous you can't believe it.
How does Angel Hernandez still have a job at this level?!
The Umpire Union
Angel Hernandez will have his own documentary after he retires when he umpires it’s pure entertainment
Some of these batters needed a pitching wedge to hit some of those pitches. Damn
I saw a 10 minute video uploaded a month ago and just assumed it was this season only.
This is why umpires will be replaced by technology.
It's amazing that these umps are not held accountable for their HORRIBLE calls. No fines, no suspensions, nothing. No getting put on shittier games is not a punishment because they are still getting paid the same. It's BS how they get away with this shit, just like the refs in the NBA.
That call at 5:16. Holy smokes lol
Why we need electronic umps calling balls and strikes, as of five years ago.
anyone else sick of the phrase "Angel Hernandez" dominating stuff like this? Either get that man an eye exam or tell him to retire
Angel Hernandez having a job is the biggest joke in the MLB
Angel Hernandez is the worst umpire ever. He needs to be fired.😮
This video might as well be titled “Angel Hernandez highlight reel”
This showed up on my news feed for whatever reason, it's the reason i don't go to games anymore. Umpires bad calls. It's dissapointing.
Idc about regular season as kick but in the playoffs, they should be able to challenge 2 pitches an inning.
what a badass move to have a horrible strike out call and just turn and walk to the dugout, composure in the face of bullshit, late new years resolution for me
Imagine being this pathetic at your job and there being zero consequences. Robot umps can't come fast enough. Screw the umpires union.
I was at 0:57 while visiting Boston: Crowd was utterly pissed
Time to go to the electronic rectangle to determine balls and strikes.
This is the first thing we need to use AI for... Replacing these godawful umpires.
Umpires should have someone in their ear telling him what the strike zone outline said. A good way to stop this from happening would be to review every pitch after the game and fine the umpires for missed calls.
Angel "missed it" Hernandez.,the worst
It seems to me that ever since they put that little rectangle in front of the catcher, its much easier for the pitcher to throw the ball there. Years ago, pichers had to guess. Doesn't seem fair to me.
BAFFLING. If you argue against a wrong call, you also get tossed out of the game! If that isn't the most oppressive regime, then I don't know what is. For once I'd like to see a batter actually toss an umpire out of the game lol.
Go back and watch some games from the 1970's and be amazed at how big and wide the strike zone was.
CB Bucknor, Ron Kulpa, Angel Hernandez, and Joe West, the Mt. Rushmore of worst umpires ever, with honorable mention to Don Denkinger
Umpires definitely can decide games even if they're trying to do their best. That being said, it's a tough job.
Framing should be illegal. First time gets a warning. Second time walks the batter. Third time catcher ejected.
Ever notice the fact that most of the bad calls were made by angel Hernandez
5:13 was the worst ball/strike call I've ever seen. I'm a Rays fan in Dallas, I was at the game, and if it hadn't been the second week of the season I would have been enraged.
In south Korea. KBO . They just started using Computerized strike zone. Nobody arguing about the strike zone anymore this year.
I remember that strike call on bo bichette it was so bad.
About less pay on a percentage of missed calls..and more pay on over a percentage a good calls
5:35 was the worst one 😂
