  • If you’ve never experienced an anxiety attack, it’s hard to articulate the sense of fear and dread one can elicit. It wasn’t until earlier this year when I experienced an anxiety attack, did I fully realize how difficult it can be to understand and process.
My guest today is ABC News’ chief national correspondent, Matt Gutman, and author of No Time to Panic: How I Curbed My Anxiety and Conquered a Lifetime of Panic Attacks. We talk about destigmatizing men’s mental health issues, what anxiety truly is and how to curb it when it sneaks up, powerful mindfulness techniques to keep you present in the moment, SSRI’s for the use of anxiety and stress, and riding yourself of the shame that can be a primary driver of anxiety.

As much as I love this channel I have to say there are at least two severe mistakes here. Co2 is not necessary to breakdown oxygen, it is a byproduct of glycolysis. The breathing exercise allows you to add more oxygen to breakdown more glucose and as a consequence you release more co2. The second is spravato (ketamine): this is a last resource antidepressant which is administered under supervision in the clinic only when several other antidepressant therapies have not worked.
Therapy is critical for anyone suffering of the issues that are described here of course. All the best to Ryan and his guest.

What I do is play verses of the bible till it goes. Especially at night.
I also focus on the alphabet. I start with A and think of a person name that starts with A. Adam....the B for Bob....
