I saw a couple theories in the song's comment section that I find pretty interesting.
One of the theories is that the fox is being manipulative, praising the kid and saying that they love them even if they lie in order to gain the child's trust, and during the equinox, the fox possessed the kid and told the kid to go to sleep (so the kid's consciousness won't fight over the right of their body with the fox), so the fox can go and do mischief as it wishes
Another theory is that the fox is actually genuine and not tricking the kid. They are trying to fulfill the kid's every wish (the kid might have come from an abused background / is otherwise lonely, which is why the fox wanted to help) using their power, even if the wishes are not necessarily good wishes, because they want the kid to be happy. They can make the kid's lies come true. But in the end, the fox and the kid lose their sense of self in pursuit of happiness

I have always loved Kikou's music for a few years, definitely check out more of their stuff! The vocals are sung by a vocaloid named Xi Quan ^^
To minorly correct you, Millie uploaded the cover & you absolutely should listen to it! She did such an amazing job with it ❤
*Now the story from memory:* (please do correct me if I make a mistake!)
The Fox Spirit is part of a Japanese folktale of foxes called Osaki that either brought good or harm to its masters. The foxes gather every night at a shrine in the Kanto region of Tokyo to celebrate together.
The osaki foxes were known to follow their masters order. Whenever there was none, the Osaki's followed their wishes.
However, those who owned these foxes were discriminated against. For example, Osaki's who were envious would steal clothes for their masters, one in folklore was said to possess a family.
Nine-tailed foxes in Japanese & Chinese folklore are considered evil & therefore untrusted.
    - A short indepth of the folklore from another commentor
The lonely Fox Spirit masters died, leaving the fellow fox to take care of the child. Instead of gathering with the other Osaki's in the shrine, the fox celebrates the end of the year with the child, not wanting to be abandoned.

As far as i knew, Kitsune (Japan's nine-tailed fox spirit) is a very powerful supernatural being that become stronger and stronger as they grew older. In some stories they're wholesome, being loyal and friendly with human. In others they're cunning, sly creatures that goes around tricking people to fulfill their wants. In some other stories they're evil being, so powerful that people started giving sacrifices so the Kitsune won't massacre them. They are able to shapeshift into human, tho in some other stories they possess human to use their body to fulfill their wants.
It's all what i remember, if i said anything wrong please correct me by all means!

As I read though wikis, every Kitsune seems to be different doing whatever they find as "fun", they feed on life forces though the victim's memories (that's why they're related to vampires) that's probably why they're dangerous and being hunted down but since they're trickstars they also costs chaos to spread adding in the reasons to hunt them.
Their powers is what helps them lore living beings into them to eat their life forces to survive (their favourite food is actually fried tofu) keeping the victim's memories in their Star ball (aka Kitsune ball) however, if said star ball is destoryed, the Kitsune dies. If someone manages to get a hold of a Kitsune's star ball, they get to control the Kitsune.
As for the "they're stronger as they grew older" they actually get 1 tail for every 100 years of age, reaching 900 years with 9 nines, which is when they are truly powerful beings, being able to change senses and fake senses of smell, taste etc...
Kitsune has different elements such as dark, fire, water, and even spirit element and ones that can control time of things.

    fun facts about kikuo!!!!
he is just one (1) dude!!!!! he's been making electronica music for over TWENTY years and has a huge discography of around 700~ish songs to prove it :0000
he's extremely talented and skilled and renowned for having an amazing ear for composition. he writes dark lyrics, but not all of them are super overt or graphic and some songs aren't dark at all, but he's got a HUGE range in style / genre!!! he's very experimental, so he's constantly trying new things and having fun with his music :)
his most recent album is kikuomiku7 (which has qi xuan in the spotlight lol) and Dance of The Frogs is reeeally good!!!
he also released a new song a couple of weeks ago (i was there for the premiere hehehehe) and it's amazingly experimental too!!! it's called As it is, As it is, without change.
if you go through his channel, he has countless gems in his discography, i honestly think he's a musical genius 😭

Millie Parfait from Nijisanji en actually made a cover of this song it's a farewell song for nina kosaka because she is a fox

  • @thisboihavealotofchannelju3936

Every Kitsune seems to be different as I read though the wikis, some are wholesome, some are evil but killing an innocent being for no reason is punishable as Kitsune do have rules (though, i'm not too sure how)
Kitsune feeds on life forces (however, their favourite food is fried tofu) which is why they lore humans or other living beings to "eat" their memories and store it in their Star ball. Which is why they're related to vampires but instead of blood, it's memories.
A Star ball (aka Kitsune ball) is the Kitsune's life force or its soul, if it's destoryed, the Kitsune dies, if someone gets a hold of it, they can control the Kitsune.
As I listen to the music, the Kitsune is having 'fun' eating away the chilld's life forces, taking the child's memories, as food resources. Kitsunes, can in fact, control dreams. Eating the child slowly to death in return of things the child wants.

The closest I can think to a time where the spirit and human realm is the Yokai Festival
I think its like the Chinese Ghost Festival too, where spirits will wander into the human realm, and usually, people do this to avoid spirits following them or entering their house:
    - They take in their laundry if it's hung on bamboo sticks, and make sure not to leave anything outside your window.
-Avoid stepping on any red sticks on the ground. They are offerings for the dead, and stepping on them could make you fall, or even worse, the angry spirits haunts you.
-Try not to stay out after 7pm.
-No bells, it will attract spirits
It's just a few common points
They also hold opera performances for the dead, and leave some seats for the ghosts to sit down and watch. Don't take their seat.
    thats all
