This book by Salima Ikram is my favorite general introduction to death, burial, and afterlife beliefs and practices in ancient Egypt. It is a great introduction to a variety of topics related to the afterlife. I like it so much that I use it as the main text in one of my courses:

If you’re looking for an introduction to the wider subject of ancient Egyptian religion, this book by Teeter is one I love to use when teaching ancient Egyptian religion. It covers many aspects of ancient Egyptian belief and ritual:

Just so the algorithm knows, you make great videos. Thank you.
Behavior can be programmed, what is in the heart is what matters.
This is absolute truth. Peace and joy.
Thank you for this wonderful informative video on such a vital ideology (and my favorite deity) of ancient Egypt! All your videos are so fantastic! 💜
Thanks, Erin! Glad you enjoyed it!
Ma'at🙏🏾🔥
Ma’at be praised
Absolutely amazing , i was able to see the visuals of what the importance of this was
Thank you so much for your videos Melinda! I watched the clip on Champollion decyphering Ramses. Ra (sun god) meses(born of)
There is another cartouche with different hieroglyphs I'm trying to figure out...
The one with the sun disk (Ra) and the goddess (Ma.at) with ostrich feather and Anubis figure and finally a type of summary with the sun and a line and waves which I figured could be the sun and upper and lower Egypt and the river Nile. Does this hieroglyph actually read out the name Ramses or is just a description of who is, (Son of Ra, established figure of justice in his kingdom)?
Awesome Video sister. Ma'at. She is rising into Aries and will be doing a karmic cleanup during the great conjunction of Pluto, Saturn in Sagittarius, the River of Heaven. Jan 12, 2020 11:58a.m. Peace Love and Cheers all.

I don’t remember that happening

Maat 💜💙💚💛🧡♥️
Just some thoughts I'll need to research....was maat 'taken over' by isis about same time as anubis stepped down to allow osiris to take over his role....and would maat, isis, anubis be 'equivalent' to libra (seeing as libra is scales, justice, truth, diplomatic etc etc????)
Thank you for your very clear and concise information. Goddess Maat is our regulator!
thank you for truth
Maat. Thank you.
Ma'at!
Thanks from egypt♥️
What does the apostrophe in the middle of “Ma’at” mean?
My mom's name from Thai translates to 5 Ma'at but is spelled mas because the S at the end of a word in Thai is a d sound or a T sound. Her first part is benja which I've deciphered to come from penta. I realize a lot of words are just mispronunciations of others. So her name is the five Ma'at.
Are there examples of Maat being followed or worshipped in Nubia?
Ma’at!
Now how you pronounce ra is that the correct way never heard it pronounced that way. Normally like think of a dentist when tell you to open your mouth raaas. Always how I've heard it so not sure which is correct thanks 🙂
Thank you for the video. Could you please, tell us more about the interdiction for the poor people to become rich? Any sources (though not in hieratic or demotic) would be great.
What else about Ma’at would not be applicable today, in your opinion (apart from their reverence for gods- as this would upset the current social order created by the monotheistic faith systems and the other apple cart- of science whose atheistic rationality is not to be blasphemed)?
I am very much looking forward to hearing from you.
I think there some similarities between ancient Eyptian beliefs and Doaist(ancient China) thought, don't you think?
There are many similarities between Kemetic, Vedic and Daoist philosophies.
Fascinating world views from them all.
Well you could have knocked me over with a feather! LOL! So in other words, Ma'at liked the Status Quo. Then I guess she retired and Isis was "hired." Fascinating the similarities regarding what is considered good behaviour and the punishment in spite of free will in this belief system with later religions.
Ma'at!

i love and live by egyptian history, since in a political view (and im a freaking viking) my terpitation, of what you call ma´at i relate to the story of ramses, first son of light, son of sethos.
He was the young, but by facing the bull in peace, instructed (tested) by he´s father sethos, he was in my view, one of the first leaders, to show how to act in love and respect for the people.
From the books i read the way he lead, and took wisdom from the people to lead the way.
He was one of the elites, who ballanced karma in war times, byt the way he was inspiring people to greater good. at the time he lived, he spread ballance to the world, first son of light.
The feather is actually that of an ostrich.
Yes Because the Feather of An Ostrich has Some weight!?

The feather of Ma'at actually belongs to the God "Shu"...
The Gods and Goddesses are cosmic and therefore not just gods of egypt...the dendera zodiac is the entire cosmos and the entire earth is in the cosmos. The Gods are worldly...Maat is cosmic and worldly

Why creating Ma~at ; unless it was a kayos .
she is the daughter of PTAH ; the blue headed " God"
In fact ; we had no Gods or Goddesses , We call them NTRs or Divines
Mahad is the right pronunciation not maat which means truth, blessing
Maet
Anyone else here fro school
Ma at is a black woman!
Sun God is RA not ray we need our people teaching our history most of the information here is inaccurate
Both are modern conventions of pronunciation and are not actually the ancient pronunciation. Thus, neither is more right or wrong than the other.
Unless Maat evolved into Isis
let me out maat ;~;

You really do not want to know lol ma'at was a black women and her husband was not black lol their was white people in Egypt longer before Greece came over lol

Why can't you explain the true identity of the Kemet (Egypt) people??? I'm not talking about these arabs that occupy North Africa, now. I'm talking about the true Black originators of that land before the uneducated evaders went and destroyed the land.
SMH y when will you leave our things alone.
Lol 😂😂😂 wat a joke ...
Ur not qualified to speak on other people's culture
So Ma'at is a goddess... We don't obtain salvation by following a list of rules. We have salvation by first recognizing that we are wicked sinners, and then believing and truly trusting in Jesus Christ as our Savior to save us from the punishment that we truly deserve.
"I am the Lord your God ... You shall have no other gods before Me." Exodus 20:2-3
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:16-18
So you're disproving a myth with an even bigger myth?
Out of all the religions in the world, Christianity is the only that can be proven, and it's the only one where one doesn't have to work him) herself to obtain salvation or anything. It's all the gift of grace; all the others are by works. The person has to do a list of things to obtain whatever that religion is offering. In Christianity, all one has to do is believing and truly trusting Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Savior.
We are not sinners. This is the most damaging and disempowering belief instilled by dangerous religion.
@@MishelleBee, what makes you say that statement? Why do you think it's damaging and untrue? Curious...
@@LifeandMore7033 the is no archeological evidence of a large group of Hebrews having been in Egypt running from a Pharaoh crossing the Red Sea and anyone drowning in the sea. That’s Myth making like the existence of Moses and Jesus
