  • What was the ancient Egyptian “weighing of the heart” and how did one pass this test? In this video, you’ll learn the 5 crucial steps that one had to take to get to and pass the test called the weighing of the heart - including the so-called negative confession and the weighing of your heart against the feather of maat on the scales. If a person passed this test, he was able to enter the afterlife and live on in the afterlife with Osiris, other gods, and his family. Passing was not guaranteed, but there were some tips and tricks that a person could use to beat the scales!

This book by Salima Ikram is my favorite general introduction to death, burial, and afterlife beliefs and practices in ancient Egypt. It is a great introduction to a variety of topics related to the afterlife. I like it so much that I use it as the main text in one of my courses:

If you’re looking for an introduction to the wider subject of ancient Egyptian religion, this book by Teeter is one I love to use when teaching ancient Egyptian religion. It covers many aspects of ancient Egyptian belief and ritual and devotes two chapters to death and the afterlife:

This is entertaining as well as highly informative. If the weighing of the heart is the standard procedure one would undergo to go to heaven, then would be as desolate as the deserts that surround Egypt. This video is highly appreciated.

The reason the heart is referenced in Judgement is that it is the place where the bodily passions are born desire, greed, lust, envy, hate and once a soul has undergone an earthly experience it may have retained these negative influences on ones soul thus not allowing it to return to it purer state and must sugger the fate of its own creation. We choose our paths unknowingly through our works which are a reflection of our hearts. Be light of heart= Love / Not heavy in sin=Hate. As above so below....

I would say as one who has studied the MdW Ntchr whether from Gardiner, Carruthers, Budge, Diop,, Obenga, Rkhty Amen, Mfundishi I am impressed with your understanding of the principles. You have come closer than a lot of others external to the aforementioned luminaries. Interesting to note that Amenta was a deep seated realm as well from which the word mental is derived. And Ma’at’s feather was associated with an ostrich for anybody wanting to know. There’s still a lot to unpack and decode about this ancient African culture as Meroitic script for instance still has not been deciphered. Hotep to you all.

Also his conman in arms John Henrik Clarke did the same thing yet time has not been kind to either' so called ideologies...

What i find fascinating is that the Egyptians believed the pharaohs to be direct descendants of the gods, yet obviously believed them to be subject to those same rules and rituals. You would think that, being direct descendants of the gods, the pharaohs would be assured the west by birthright. But no. That they believed even the pharaohs themselves were not above those rules offers and interesting insight into just how much the ancient Egyptians valued order.

Egyptian texts generally don’t suggest any feeling of fear of the duat. There are some people who left texts behind that indicate they thought of dying as a bad/sad thing, but that’s not the same as being afraid of the afterlife or any particular locations (like the duat).

I think the ancient Egyptians did not see it as "cheating" the gods. I think they saw it more as preparing. Like preparing for a long and difficult journey. Obviously, you would not go on a hike through a desert naked with no guidance or supplies. You would die. Instead, you would prepare adequately before undertaking such a journey. The same way, the Egyptians believed that it was prudent to prepare for your journey to the afterlife.

There is so much mis-translations here 1. The weighing of the heart the judges would be there yes, you do not need to know them by name but to show them honour by bowing your head of being on your knees to show they are higher than you. 2. You don't have your hand held by Anubis when going into the chamber of the after life he is very tall and menacing looking and is the guide from this world to the other. 3. Ma'ats feather comes from her wing and symbolises truth. 4. I learned the gods name is not ammit but Sobek Ammit translates to devourer of souls 5. If you are granted past sobek you see osiris in the other chamber where he has your future self awaiting on the reeds as reincarnation seen with the ankh symbol of life. The only part that was correct was thoth writes your wrong doings sad sad I wanted to like this video

I'd be curious to know what your sources are for all of these ideas.
Just a few examples in relation to your points:
      1. right before the so-called negative confession, the person says (in the Book of the Dead) "nothing evil shall come into being against me in this land in this Hall of Justice, because I know the names of these gods who are in it." In addition, each "confession" starts with the name of the judge the person is addressing (for example, "O Double Lion who came forth from the sky, I have not destroyed food supplies"). So knowing names was definitely a part of it.
      3. The translation of ma'at is not so clear cut as calling it one thing in English, like "truth." It requires some nuance.
      5. Sobek is a god who is shown in crocodile form and had his own temple(s), was well-thought of, etc. He is completely different from Amamet, who is only part crocodile and is not a regular god in the Egyptian pantheon that you'd see anywhere other than here because her purpose is the one outlined here.

Truth is pretty clear cut telling the truth in your life all the reasons for any wrong doings frees the soul of heavy weight and helps Thoth write down everything as it's being explained to the Judges and Ma'a t plus many people have 're incarnated without knowing the Judges names it's not like Ammit is going to eat your soul just for THAT the weighing of the heart being as light as a feather matters most that - if you do 're incarnate you don't hold the negative energy of last life with you.

"Ammit" = Sobek ; never heard of Amamet, I doubt they'd be called that because of the sounds made eating lol also Pantheon is not Egyptian in general that word is Greek and needless to say the Egyptian Gods ,Goddess as a collective were called an Ennead.

My boss asked of he could talk to me... I said sure..
He said take a seat here...
He had a hard time beggining to talk about what he wanted to talk about...
    I became a bit nervous..
    He said with difficulty..
People are talking behind your back.
    I said ok...I wasn't nervous because I knew I had played a good game.
    He went on to say...
People are saying your skin is Gold.
    I said what?
He said... Put out your arm out..
    I did.
He put his arm beside mine. He's Indian.
He said ... Do you see ?
Look at the color of your skin.
I acted a bit confused but I knew what he was talking about..
I said.. I don't know what you mean.
He said nervously.... It's OK forget it. Got up and walked away.
How many people do you think that happened to ever?

Apparently these wicked wealthy people of this worldly world are going to buy they ways out of judgement? What fool tries to buy their way out of trouble with what God has provided? So your going to use what God out here on Earth to buy your way out of the courts of death? The even bigger fools who made the choice to sin against the creator.
It’s goi g to cost them far more than everything they have and more

    Here is a catch 22:
If u looked deeply at the relics in all ancient religions including the drawings in the pyramid where Thoth the god had a scale that he used to measure the weight of your heart after you die. And if your heart is full of remorse and burden, it'll be heavier and would tip down the scale not in your favour. So then you'd go to hell.
That's been found in many ancient religions and even in the abrahamic ones (judaism, chistianity & islam ).
But what im saying is that since Jeff Dahmer is a psychopath, he doesn't feel remorseful to all the crimes he committed, therefore he doesn't carry no burden in his heart. He forgave himself for all those crimes against humanity. His heart is therefore light as a feather void of any burden.
On the day of judgement, it will be yourself that's gonna judge you. It'll be your inner spirit that's gonna weight your heart to see if it still carry the burden of forgiveness.
But in Jeff's case, his light heart will be pure void of those atrocious acts.
In my personal judgement i think this is unfair though.

I love the Egyptian book of the dead. I love egyptianology. Plague both man and beast. I will plague you as if I was one of these firstborn egyptians and punish you yet seven times for your sins. I will remember my covenant with Jacob, I will remember my covenant with Issaac, and I will remember my covenant with Abraham and I will remember the land and the land shall enjoy it's sabbaths. I had a vision that Amamit or Sobet the crocodile ate my heart and turned me into a god. Plague both man and beast. There is some funky stuff in exodus. I have dreams of Baphomet and a couple of demons dancing around me while I sleep and while I get ready to wake up. I feel safe in hell. Even Baphomet the Goat of Mendes get's his share of boils and blisters, flies and gnats, darkness and hail and thunder. Eat the fruit of the tree and your eyes shall be opened as if ye were gods, knowing good and evil. The light of the body is the eye and if the eye is clear the body is full of light but if the eye is dark then the body is full of darkness. Plague both man and beast.

  • @AFRoSHEENT3ARCMICHAEL69

But you're born into dissonance meaning you know nothing. Dead until you come alive. So in reality you can pass through to this afterlife in this life in fact that might be the point. We now call it salvation.
