GT500 Mustang Earns Hard Charger Award - NASA Thunder Race #2 @ GingerMan Raceway

The #3 MAP Data Systems Mustang finished 1st in the American Iron Extreme class (6th overall) and received the Hard Charger award for the most positions gained (passing 13 cars). We ran a 1:41.9 on lap two, which is a nice time for an early lap with heavy racing traffic and was the second-fastest lap of the race for any production car.
We passed all the cars in the Iron group by lap 5, and likely had a mile of open track before catching the Super Touring cars who started the race approximately 1 minute before we started. With no competitors in our rearview mirror, we started backing up the corners and running at 80%, yielding a slow 1:48 lap time by lap 10. At that time, Gabe’s white #042 AI Mustang appeared in our previously empty rearview mirror, and we had to resume racing speeds for the last two laps of the race to keep his very fast car behind us.
The win was the team’s 5th AIX victory of the 2024 season to go along with 3 second-place finishes.
