- Modifying Pokemon go plus+ to automatically throw great and ultra balls and removing the vibration motor
Dimensions of the microswitch: "box" is 8.7 x 3.8 mm and the stick is 1.5 x 1.5 mm and 4 mm tall
Speaker hole is 10 x 2.1 mm
As of 5/9/2024 I had 0 experience. I ordered a side kit on Amazon and followed all these directions. 100% works!! Mahalo from Maui. I would highly recommend everyone to get the smallest wires you can and a really good pair of wire strippers
I recommend everyone to remove the battery from after go plus + before modifying to avoid device failure. The method in the video works 100% as presented by the author.
Didn't want to break the connector as I couldn't easily remove it, I found this on IFixit that helped me:
"This connector is the same one on the Nintendo Joy-Cons, this connector has no retention clip, and must be pried upward to remove it.
Do not pull on the wires directly. They are fragile and will strip out of the connector with too much force, instead using the flat end of your spudger tool, reach under the connector and pry it up."
Very easy to do. Just pop the little black connector out with something small like tweezers or something similar.
Hello, could you please clarify what you mean by “little black connector”?
I thought you might mean the small black bit that is attached to the green electronic “plate”, and has red and white wires coming from it. But I can’t seem to grasp any part of it with tweezers in a way that doesn’t feel like I might do some damage if I pull.
Thanks.
Never mind; I figured out that was the right part, and that I needed to wedge a tweezer underneath it to prise/lift it upwards.
Thank you! I followed your instructions but went ahead and completely removed the vibration motor and speaker. Works like a charm! My main use for this device includes having it running at work, so removing the speaker helps my peace of mind lol. Plus I was constantly trying to find something soft to place it on so it wouldn't vibrate my entire desk.
I have the exact work situation with my mine as well! Did you have to use soldering tools to remove the vibration and speaker?
@@UberPancakes0313you could just clip the wires with some flush cutters and achieve the same effect
i also removed vibration motor and now it's time to mod. Did u use switch or directly soldered?
Thank you for your work and your tutorial. I did it the same way with two Plus+ so far and it is working fine. Thank you!
Worked like a charm, thank you so much! I couldn’t find a micro slide switch locally, so I used an external rocker switch in my first mod while waiting for the micro switches to arrive later this week. I removed the vibration motor entirely to save weight. The hardest part of the mod was getting the tiny screws back in. 😊
Glad yours worked. Mine won’t do anything unless it’s connected to power. Blinks red like battery is low. Pressing reset button on the back fixes it for a about a minute and everything works like it’s supposed to. Then goes back to blinking red (top button)
@@Jazzamonroe idk what you did to it so this is more so general advice depending on what you did to it, you might have bridged some connections while desoldering, or damaged the PCB partially by heating up the iron too much. Try and go through the area with a multimeter to check for continuity, clean up the area physically, and pray xD good luck
@@xixsilerxix yeah not sure. I found the issue I was experiencing mentioned by those who replaced their battery on the original go+. So maybe there’s something that happens when disconnecting the battery that causes this issue in these devices. Either way, I got a new one and successfully completed the mod. I’m a complete noob at this type of stuff so I don’t have any diagnostic tools, just a ts80 soldering iron without an adequate power supply to get it past 320c 😅
glad you found a resolution though, happy hunting :p @@Jazzamonroe
Excellent video and walkthrough. Worked like a charm! 🙏🏽
I followed your instructions was able to create the mod. It works like a charm...THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this video! This was my first time using a solder for anything and I bought a starter kit just to do this. The switch is the key thing like you said to avoid the device going into that loop. Thank you so much for teaching us and inspiring me
Thank youuuu! Just tried this with 0 soldering experience. Burnt myself a few times but the plus + works like a charm. So nice not to have the vibration too. Haven't fully got the hang of the switch yet, I seem to have to press connect, then switch it before it connects or it goes into a pickachu loop. Stealth paint job incoming 😎
Disconnect the battery before doing anything such as soldering or cutting wires, its easy and doesn't take much force and wont break, the batterys are the same a joy cons, just never leave batteries plugged into something being worked on as its possible to explode or make a short such as cutting the wires
Aloha! I followed your guide step-by-step & it worked perfectly thank you
Just wanted to say thank you, I did it exactly how you described it and it works perfectly. You have to be reaaaally careful when first opening it up, I ripped that ribbon cable out because I was using to much force and opened it from the wrong side. Lucky it just came out and wasn't damaged, so I could put it back in. It is alot harder to do then it looks, but I'm bad at craftsmanship in general.
Legendary! I bought one on Mercari after breaking mine but I'm happy with this one.
Thank you. Just did the mod without the switch. I disconnected the vibration and speaker at the same time. Works perfect.
So it basically just is on the whole time? I might just do that too
I was going to try this but as soon as I touched the connection with it powered on it blinked non stop
saved me the time for testing where the button connection is.. nice..
cheers
Perfettamente funzionante, finalmente posso usare le mega e ultra in eccesso senza fare la scorta di solo Pokeball
Here I am, with no Pokemon Go Plus+ nor any knowledge of soldering :) Great work by the way, very ASMR I'd say haha.
Thanks for the guide. I just need to wait for my solder kit to come in. I already got my PoGo ++ and easily opened it. I stuck dimming stickers to halve the LED light and it looks much better.
Worked perfect! Thank you!
Do you happen to have a link to the switch? Would like to set mine up like this as well 🙏
awesome work, great tutorial. I just ordered a switch, going to scavenge some wires. Very excited to try to mod my ++
fumbled my way through this - my first time soldering. but it works! :) i just need to get a glue gun for the switch. my super glue probably won't hold very well.
@@supermodestmouse where did you order the switch?
Thanks man, you helped me get mine working😊
Hey, can I just clip both cables for both the vibrating motor and the speaker?
And later work on getting the switch + solder to test cable? Or do I need to keep the vibrating motor + red cable in there for some circuit stuff that I don't understand (LOL)?
thanks for the video by the way!
i was able to do mine a little bit scuff thank you so much man!
Might be a stupid question. But the black wire solder point. Is that not a ground? How is it giving the signal to vibrate and acting as a ground?
Works great! Thank you so much!
worked! testing more now. Thanks!
Hey, how did you remove the speaker tabs. I did my own but could fit the speaker so I desoldered it to remove it. A friend of mine wants to keep theirs. Did you rip them off with pliers or sand them down?
This cables to add in are arduino connection? With positive - positive? Or what this cables green?
So I sliced a line in the middle of the mesh for the speaker an I pushed the switch in. So it could still pretend from dust etc
Question to all. After doing to mod and it working successfully the device works exactly as it should except that I cannot complete the great/ultra ball research. I have tried it in both manual and auto but nothing registers. Afraid to contact support and find out that vibration feedback is needed or something.
Does pokemon sleep still work with this modification?
any amazon links to buy the parts? :) it would be awsome!
It would be good to place a diode at the input of the button to avoid returns to the sparkler.
I am aware of what a diode is, but I have no idea which one to pick. Do you have specs on which diode we should add?
Where would that be soldered on to? The point near the ribbon cable?
After modding Pokemon GO Plus+, can you still use sleep mode for another Pokemon account or will this feature be completely lost?
Which switch did you use
What size of the micro slide switch would be the best?
Do you think this will work with a 3 position micro switch? I want to give mine the options of vibration off with auto catch on & vibration on with auto catch off
Yes. This should work. In the follow up video I mentioned using multiple switches.
Hi, what awg gauge wire would you recommend using?
He mentions same gauge that is found in typical USB cables so either 20AWG or 28 so I think going with the smaller one would be fine.
Is there any way to buy replacement parts for the pokeball plus plus
Do we have to take the red wire off the motor. Or can it be kept on so the vibration still works?
You can keep. Just a lot of people hate the vibration being SOOOO strong.
Would it at all be possible to get a modified Plus + to shoot the Ultra Balls? I am blind and I cannot do this mod myself but I love pokemon go and can play because of the sound effects in the game.
Hey Richard! I'm not affiliated with this channel in any way, but someone sent this video to me and I came across your comment. I'd like to see if I can help out, do you have a website I can contact you at?
Hoping new gotcha will be out soon 😂
I don’t think anything new will be similar to the Go plus plus. Because throwing Great and Ultra ball is the software not device unless you mod the device
@michaela9821 the gotcha can easily add a software that can tie the catch button to the vibration feature.
@@shanebirt1true but will they? Is the big question. Why give us everything now when they can continue to make money making newer versions of itself.
Autocatch with great and ultra ball would be neat
Díky
So this doesnt necessarily auto rotate which pokeball you use? It just enables u to autothrow ultra ball?
looks like they are hard wiring the button press to be always on so when it gets a prompt for a press to throw it is instantly present and throws the ultra/great balls remaining. Not really much more than a brute force switch mod. But it works.
@@king_kiff3969so what happens is. When the device sends the signal to vibrate the motor to show a Pokémon is nearby, that signal is then sent to the button to activate as well, since it’s connected to the test point, it’s not permanently pressed down per se, but whenever it vibrates to say hey a Pokémon is nearby it also activates the button to catch the pokemon
If the only thing I want to mod is disabling vibrate, can I just open it up, cut the red wire, and close it back up?
Yes
Mine stopped working. It doesn't charge or turn on anymore I don't know what happened . I never dropped it or left it charging over night.
Does anyone know the official name for the mini ROMEX-looking cable he had at @2:29 ? I want to order some online
I've done like the tutorial but doesnt work for me. I have disabled auto throwing. Seems like button is not activating. Any help?
hey, thanks for this great vid! I modded 2 devices with this guide. my own, and my sister's. I notice some off behaviour though. My own device which i modded first, works great, and the switch function works fine. I am almost at the end of my sleep research so i hope to never need to use the switch again. I have an S23 android phone.
My sister's device, also works fine, and the switch enables/disables the auto catch as intended by the mod, she has an iphone 12. But I notice something, once it disconnects (manually, or by the 1hr dc), it always goes into the blue/red light loop which i assume is it trying to go into sleep mode. My device does not do this, i tried connecting her pogo++ to my phone and it also exhibits this behaviour. do you have any feedback on this? should i go back into my sisters device and check the solder joints, connections etc? I DID accidentally pull the main ribbon cable from the main board to the white board on hers and I didn't do that on mine. but I reconnected it and dropped a dab of hot glue on it to secure it after so I assumed that isn't the issue. The auto catching otherwise works on her device. The main inconvenience is she always has to flip the switch to stop the loop and reconnect. I never have to do that. I also made a post on /r/pokemongoplusplus on this issue but have had no feedback.
I'd appreciate any responses or feedback anyone might have
me pasa lo mismo , tienes alguna respuesta?
What kind of solder did you use? I did mine and my wife's easy, but when i went to do the kids the wire did not want to bond with the test spot on the top board and it seems the solder burned out the connection point
Did you use Flux? Many people forget about it
@renes2svn it was the cheap non adjustable temp soldering pen I was using, got a new still cheap but adjustable one and it is working perfect@@renes2svn
Just did the mod and it works but the game keeps freezing if I go out of the game and back in with quick re connect and auto catch on.
What about to dim the light on the pokeball
Hi does this method of modding completely disable the vibration motor? I want the vibration to still be there when auto catch is off. How do I do that?
You would probably need a 3-way switch for that
@@ma3x558 I see. Where would I be connecting the pins?
can you give link to where you got the switch?
Where are people finding the small switches?
Do you sell them?
Hey, can you keep the vibration motor and just solder a new wire to the black one ?
I guess it will work right ? :)
Thanks a lot, I'll give you a feed back once done !
Still not done ? :P
@@NofirstnameNolastname I've add a mofset After the Switch, it works better haha
No motor + mofset = 10x more battery
What are those switches called and the size?? I’m trying to find where to order!
Did you ever figure out what size switches he used?
Is it possible to solder directly to the white board instead of to the switch then the board?
It is but it creates problems somtimes. It can get stuck in a loop of saying pikachu that was easily solved by a switch.
Not sure where ive messed up..
When I connect it, it blinks green and then after a few blinks it stays static green. Same after I hit the switch. It just tags the pokemon but it wont actually catch it :(
Did u figure out the issue?
Same here
omg nice but why do fast forward and cover everything with your hand
What size switch did you use?
Dimensions of the "box" are 8.7 x 3.8 mm and the stick is 1.5 x 1.5 mm and 4 mm tall
You did this all without disconnecting battery? Followed instructions but now mine go plus+ won’t turn on. Mod works if I plug it in and press reset button. 30 seconds later the top light starts flashing red indicating low battery. Will not work at all if not plugged in. At a loss here.
Yes I did it without disconnecting a battery. I did a lot of them same way and all work fine. Dont't know how to help with your problem. Maybe try to desolder the wire you added. See if that helps
@@ma3x558 still not working. I must have caused a short somewhere at some point without realizing. I’m not too experienced with this stuff so I wouldn’t be surprised. Guess I’ll have to buy another one😅
@@ma3x558bought a new unit and successfully modded it. I think the issue may have been that I disconnected the battery halfway through the mod the first time. The issue I was experiencing was very similar in documented cases of battery replacements with the first iteration of the go+. People who replaced the non rechargeable battery on their go+ experienced issues with it no longer turning on. May just be a coincidence but maybe not.
tempts me to just rip mine open, yeet out the vibration motor and speaker. surprised nobody jstu removes the speaker. sure you can disable it in the settings, but you dont need it so why keep it :p heck i'd even turn off the lights if that doesnt stop the button funtion which i assume you can.
Do you have an Amazon link possibly for the switches so I can order some and try this? It's so cool
Search for FORIOT 40Pcs SS12D00G3 3-Pin 2-Position SPDT
can you upload a video showing how autocatch works with this mod? Some playing record?
and will this affect the sleep feature? I’m using it for Pokemon Sleep-app and PoGo.
@@roopetammisto6394 that's why the switch is there. So if you need to use the sleep mode, you can open the connection from the board (previously for vibrate) to the button (auto catch).
@@ejohn3288 thank you, ordered the switch and will try this when it arrives.
@@roopetammisto6394 Can you please link where you got the switch? Would also like to try
Can you send the link of the switch?
Lo hice y cuando lo desconecto del móvil , se vuelve loco con luces azul y luego roja , si lo pongo en modo manual , no le pasa nada , es raro
Super 😗 Nagraj to jeszcze raz bez Twoich rąk .Plis
i really would like to do this, but i am slightly confused on what your accomplishing here. it has the auto catch already. so what does this accomplish ?
It doesnt have autocatch for great and ultraballs, only pokeballs.
so doing this, making a connection to vibrate motor and adding a switch, allows for the optional use of the great and ultra.
Really very useful. Thanks a lot!!!
I tried to look on the switch on Amazon. In vain...
Does someone have a link for these switches?
And it is Tesco sticky white paste? Right?
I found mine on eBay
Is there a Bad side effect of removing the Sound speaker permanent except i have no pika Sound? 😀
I’m curious of this also, especially since I want to use it only as an auto catcher! I also don’t want to risk the embarrassment of a loud “pika” sound while I’m public lol
@@ddashnaw77 put on silent mode and turn off pikachu sounds in the settings of the ++
Old wired mouses have even thinner wires - perfect for this too.
Do you provide a service I can pay for?😊
Can you still put device back into sleep mode after the mod? Thanks.
Yes. You turn the switch to an off position and it acts like normal. I'll post a new video with some Q&A soon.
how do you remove the battery
Modified to do what?
I'm a warrior Chris
Thanks for this. it's a shame they released such an inferior product. We should not have to go to these lenghs to get things right.
it's because this makes it OP and people wont play the game as intended.
i just did this and it worked but not sure if the switch thing is working cause the center button doesnt respond
whenever i click on it, it doesnt light up or anything
I bricked my device,..... now it won't respond.. I did not remove my battery before doing ,
Thanks! In order to throw great or ultra balls, do I need to turn off Enable Poke Auto-Throw? and also select which Ball to throw?
Yes, turn OFF
Wo kann man den microswutch bestellen??
Is it required to cut out the red wire? what if i still want vibration from the go plus+?
No, but then it still vibrates even when you use auto catch.. I guess
@@ma3x558mine goes in and out of sleeping mode but on pokemon go when it flashes green it doesnt press the button
@@ma3x558 i followed the tutorial but i didnt cut/desolser the red wire. is that why it detects it as just being held down instead of a button press?
@@EditorZyloCould be. I expected it to work even without cutting red. I did 5 of them but always desolder the red wire. I guess you can try to desolder yours and see if that helps. If you do that please let me now if it solved it so that I would know if you need to do it. Thanks
Did anyone verify if it still worked with out desoldering the red wire?
Can I just buy one from you?
So quick question what is the purpose of the wiring?
It throws ultra and great balls automatically
super 😊 record it again without your hands .Plis
Can you link the switch?
Tried following instructions exactly as shown in the video but now the entire thing won't turn on. Don't know what I did to fuck it up :(
hey i just did this and it works but now my pokemon go plus plus wont stay connected for more than 5 mins and it keep disconnecting can you help
Try to charge it and maybe check if you soldered it correctly. Check for bridges...
Why didn’t you just slice the mesh?
I wonder if we can mod it for pokemon sleep somehow lol 😅
Please help im confused… Why did u need to add a switch manual or auto mode, if you go to settings in pokemon go u can click on or off for auto catch. why is all this work necessary? you can also choose and pick which balls you can thow. i understand geting rid of vibration, but why a switch when the option is in the settings…
The auto catch setting does not have anything to do with this mod. Essentially this bypasses auto catch. Every time the plus+ would've vibrated (detects a poke stop or pokemon) it sends a signal to the button as if the button were pressed manually. Even if auto catch setting was turned off, this mod would still simulate a button press.
The auto mode only throws Pokeballs. You need this mod to auto throw Great and Ultra balls.
Can't you just stick the button down to auto throw the great and ultra balls?
Nope
I wish I could find someone to do this for me!
A lot of players are getting super annoyed at the vibrator and having zero control over it.
brilliant lol
Where can I order a switch in the US?
Alibaba
Has anyone noticed a battery life improvement with this mod?
