Misfits, Descendents, Bad Religion?
Agreed but GREENDAY made it in there SMH
More like Choking Victim, Stupid Stupid Henchmen, No cash?
Misfits is punkgoth
+Flame Haired Dude you're an idiot
+Flame Haired Dude The Misfits are punk with a horror/sci-fi flick influence
aahh yes, watch mojo the ultimate authority on punk.
When they talk about niche or alternative interests like anime, punk music, metal music, or cult movies I get the feeling they pick things at random or "borrow" other peoples lists
Kensington .E. You read my mind, sir
So good
They were pretty much on point here tho.
@@nemanjajovanov meh
Your gonna tell me Last Caress didn’t even get an honorable mention?!
this sad life now
Metallica fan...
So true
@@hmpz36911 it wasnt a Metallica song it was created by the misfits and covered by Metallica
Or Banned in DC
top 10 Punk anthems? 4 out of 10 at best. WatchMojo needs to research Punk. Seriously.
They fucking put drop kick murphys on this and that is the worst thing you could put on a top ten punk list
Well no shit watchmojo is a bunch of superficial corporate fakers
There just doing a list for posers real punkers no the top ten
Green day is the pop version of punk. It's the Shasta of punk. It's the La Croix of punk.
@@arthas640 that reminds me of austin powers. You're not punk enough scott you're semi punk, you're the diet coke of punk
I think we all came here kind of knowing Anarchy In The U.K. was gonna be at number one
reese martinez, As it should be.
reese martinez I sure as hell knew it.
Yep, agreed.
reese martinez I thought it would be God Save The Queen but this is just as good.
Sex Pistols is the best punk band ever and they are the godfather of punk
I had ridiculously low expectations for this list. It didn't disappoint.
Watch Mojo has No clue what The F@#! Their talking about !!!
They have no idea. Basket Case? Jesus fucking Christ.
Yeah I'm surprised it didn't go all Glam punk.
@@joebrandel6204 lol
Bro Hymn def deserved to be on this list tho
hmm I can tell Watchmojo doesn’t listen to a ton of punk, huh
The Clash have many punk songs better than London Calling.
no band of the 90s should be above the Clash
Watchmojo is lazy and just picks the mos famous songs. That's why basketcase was picked as well.
My favorite is White riot
Chiara Bonazzi the clash wasn’t even around in the 90s lol
Tim Kramar know your rights and atom tan are the best!
The Green Day hate is so petty that it's fucking hilarious
breseman yes it is pretty. Green day is an extraordinary band. One of my personal favorites, but they aren't punk. They are pop
breseman punk is just loud noise and usually political or social related lyrics.
@@thebullymac4742 it's a mix of both, pop punk and punk rock, probably if you listen to "Jaded" you'll think that it's punk rock, nowadays they're more pop punk, but still punk :))
They are sellouts
@@thebullymac4742 you don’t know punk. There’s always been poppy sounding punk bands like the dickies, Buzzcocks, ramones, dead milkmen, the Queers, screeching weasel, MTX, etc. Green Day was heavily influenced by the lookout records bands of the 90s like screeching weasel and the Queers
I know everyone says punks not dead, but when people say 5sos is punk it sure smells like it
Kyle Gall anyone considering those shits punk brings my faith in humanity down. they're called punk from some people for some reason, and i hate them for in a way ruining the name.
true that
It's okay they're already outdated and obsoleted
Punks not dead it just deserves to die
westcoastswellrox 5sos already shot it down
The Exploited, G.B.H., The Casualties, The Adicts, Misfits, CRASS, and FEAR also! 🏴
Screeching weasel and the Queers
Damn Mojo you had me thinking that I had lost my mind. "Time Bomb" Rancid was 1995, not 1985. You made have to google it to verify that I was not NUTZ.
Awesome album it was on...
They put out 4 videos a day I can tell you they dont give two fucks about their research. Their all corporate fakers anyway
Yes and should have been Roots Radical
Why didn't the Misfits hit the list. If the Ramones were on the list, then the Misfits definitely deserve to be on the list as well.
I agree. Fully.
misfits never get the credit they deserve, because they Arent of one the popular punk bands
stevemaggot8 are you kidding? its actually very easy for one to say that the Misfits invented punk rock (although they didnt) if you told someone that who actually listens to the Misfits AND to punk rock in general, theres no way they would disagree.
Give someone a misfits shirt oh I love this bad "name one song " runs away. I'm saying every body who is true punk loves them ( like me) but but a bunch of sleeping with sirens type fans where about a hundred misfits shirts and have no idea who they are which pisses me off
Used Hdjdhfjrbd Preach it man.
Should be called "top ten entry level casual noob punk anthems"
lol
some of them
My dad was so into this shit, I'm just like him now lol.
The fact that you have Green Day but not The Misfits is a real slap in face to punk fans
Yes!
Yep basket case? WatchMojo should have just put hybrid moments or last caress in here instead of that poppy song
Needs the descendents on the list for sure!
For sure
gg alin - bite it
hardcore not punk, i liked them too
Cheer or pep talk

Get the fuck out of here with your greenday
Bro Apocalypse No I wont, because i don't see a reason to. If you like Ramones but hate GD, you've got some problems with hearing.
Dude, how could you possibly like the ramones or green day? Fuck off poser.
Michael Desanta You hating the Ramones? You are taking trolling to the next level. I can't take you seriously.
I always thought that "jesus of suburbia" defined punk rock more than basket case or any of other of Green Day's songs because it details the feelings of being an outsider like basket case does but also goes a step further. It told the story of a young "punk" and his transformation through stages of depression and insanity and then finally indifference. Idk, I just always have had a personal connection to that song and am very biased XD
Greenday don't define punk.
Would have put some early Pixies, The Offspring or The Descendants in there at least as honorable mentions.
Love me some offspring!!! Their Let the Bad Times Roll is a good album!! Opioid Diaries is a great rockin song!!
@@David_Theisen true that - Offspring are consistently good.
They’re forming in a straight line !
They going through a tight wind !
The kids are loosing their minds !
Bkitzkreig Bop !
punk rock is supposed to be about freedom of speech, do it yourself and do watever you want, but most "punks" comenting here go aginst its real meaning.
Please people, punk is not only hardcore bands and shitty sound recordings. Bad Religion is melodic, Ramones is melodic and even have tons of songs about teenage love, Nofx is quite melodic, the clash has records completely out of what "punk sound" should be.. nobody complins about it.. with that I can't understand why put Green day on a list of punk stuff bothers you so much... they came from san francisco punk scene, grew and didn't change their sound when signed with a major label, and even made their havier album after a huge world success. You should stop whining, GD roots are punk even if their sound had branched
#1 Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
#2 God Save The Queen - Sex Pistols
#3 White Riot - The Clash
#4 I Wanna Be Your Dog - The Stooges
#5 Blank Generation - Richard Hell e The Voidoids
#6 Chinese Rock - Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers/Ramones
#7 Venus - Television
#8 Sonic Reducer - Dead Boys
#9 Neat Neat Neat - The Damned
#10 Punk Is Dead - Crass
all the rest is consequently
Black Flag has got to be on that list somewhere . . .
You missed Joan Jett lol
you are right guys, even patti smith, black flag, dead kennedys, the runaways, sham 69, bad brains, the germs, undertones, MC5 etc. are very important bands in the first punk rock scene, but i think that they deserve only an honorable mention compared to the others 10
Thomas Isola THANK YOU! The fuck is doing Green Day in here? Ugh
I see here we have someone who knows their punk.
I love hearing the Sex Pistols
"They sound... angry"
"They are."
Should've included "If the Kids Are United". One of the most "anthem" like songs ever.
they will never be divided
U WOT M8 😁
New Rose or Love Song.
Ever Fallen in Love.
Kiss Me Deadly.
Oh Bondage.
Somethin' Better Change.
But no, we get MTV corporate punk like Green Day instead.
@@MrYahboo same, New Rose and Ever Fallen In Love is great!
Who does that song again? I don’t know a lot of punk, so humor me! 😊 I think Cool To Hate, The Kid’s Aren’t Alright, Self Esteem or All I Want by Offspring would be anthemic! LOVE Time Bomb and Ruby Soho! No 21st Century Digital Boy? Los Angeles? Sheena Is A Punk Rocker? You? Superman? Skatanic?
No bad religion? No offspring? No operation ivy? But you have institution at # 10? -claps-
Agreed. I love Green Day, but Punk =/= Punk Rock. I would have replaced Basket Case with like ... I dunno, State of The Union by Rise Against, Self Esteem by Offspring or You by Bad Religion.
Offspring's crap
Don't forget about My Chemical Romance!
Aren't they considered to be emo? They certainly don't sound punk. They're far more of a pop-rock band than anything else.
Agreed, Bad religion should've of
Been on this list.
9:59 Bro Hymn is also used by the Ducks and the Angels for Goals and Home Runs respectively. It fits not only because the band is from Manhattan Beach which is only a half hour away from Anaheim, but also because of lines like "...Just remember the side you get to cheer on, you've got friends with you to the end" and "We can conquer anything together" displaying the community that exists in alot of sports fanbases where fans (sometimes) treat other fans like best friends or family (especially after big moments like the Minneapolis Miracle where fans who were mostly complete strangers were hugging each other as their team seemed to be destined to go to the Super Bowl).
Fear's " I love livin in the city" best punk song ever.
yes
Fuck yeah!
I was expecting a SUM 41 song here as she said All Killer No Filler at the beginning :P
SUM 41 isn't punk they're a fucking shitty pop punk band! Fuck off you wanna be.
*****
It's not any worse than Green Day
Sum 41 aren't as influential as the other bands on the list. I like them, but them and most other pop-punk acts of the early 2000's didn't leave as big a legacy.
***** why the fuck would he be a wanabe for liking sum41?
no is real punk
Sham 69 -If the kids are united, Bad Religion-Generator
the song or the album?
Song
+Lizz de la Garza I think if you're going to throw a BR song on the list of anthems, it would have to be 21 century digital boy.
+Harry Pinkeater Generator is the anthem of my friends that's why, but yep you are right
+Lizz de la Garza well you and your friends have good taste
Now!
I was REALLY hesitant to click on this video fearing being greatly disappointed... But I think considering the source this is actually a fairly decent list.
Not really
Oh kids, learn abour *Punk* first before mentioning Offspring, Green day and bloody sum41, for fucks sake.
Have you ever heard early Offspring? Or Manic Subsidal? Their name before they became the Offspring. Most definitely punk.
Oh adults, grow the fuck up and realise times are a changin'...
Time's are NOT changing. Those bands are just NOT punk. Listen to Against Me! That band is a true modern punk band. If people don't know about punk they should just stop blabbing out their INCORRECT notions on what they THINK is punk.
Oh fuckwad, learn that Green Day is known for writing songs about fighting government control before your write a comment like that because last I checked, that's pretty fucking punk
Jessica Jane There are plenty of documentaries, and recent ones too, that have band members from bands like Bad Religion, Rancid, and NOFX that all classify Green Day as punk. Don't go all Gilman Street on us, disowning punk bands by your opinions left and right.
This video has Rancid - Time Bomb as 1985. Its 1995.
They did put the Sex Pistols at No. 1, it's not like they had any idea what they were doing to begin with..
Did I misheard them say they’re Scottish?
I can't believe that Rancid are even on this list. Their ska stuff (everything they do/have done) makes me feel ill.
Kebert Xela. I noticed that to.
Just Lil Peep fans looking what music he loved.
No mention of the song that started it all? My Generation!!!
Oh come on, give me a break. My generation? Yeah maybe to the mods not the punks. No punk thought the who was good they were a total joke. MC5 and new York dolls helped change punk music not Pete Townshend and his big nose
The Who are my second fav band, Baba o riley, My generation, Boris the spider and wont get fooled again are my fav by them
@@thewhoman3182 fuck off then, the who are the people that inspired people to be the way they are now, without them, half of the songs u know now or that are even on this list wouldnt wven be a thing if they never existed
21st century digital boy isn't on here?
I can't believe it...
In my eyes it's not real punk
In my eyes, just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't punk.
I never said I didn't like it
Casper Howell If you have to name one of your songs "Punk rock song" you're trying to hard to be punk...
Stuck with me is the best punk song of the 1990's, its a a underrated green day classic, insomniac was a straight up punk rock album
Nothing from the descendents first album?
Top three in no particular order: Country Roads - Me First & The Gimmi’ Gimmis, The Brews - NOFX, and Tititwister by Diesel Boy
Los Angeles by X
One of my favorite bands. I’d add “Johnny Hit and Run Paulene”
Good one!
Hey that's pretty underground props to a true punk
I’d add nausea
If The Damned are not on the list it don't deserve looking anymore, not to mention the lurkers, the stranglers, stiff little fingers souixi & banchees, but they did get the No1 right! best ever single from the pistols, seen in camden as a retired punk,..ab fab , brilliant!
This is the correct comment.
Seeing dropkick Murphys live was one of the greatest things ive ever seen
same! saw em in philly on st Patty's day, many moons ago. the boils and the toy dolls opened for em!!
Was hard to see if that Fenway Park crowd was enjoying it though!! LOL
you know punk is truly dead when watchmojo does a list about it
No decendents??? Damn
+christopher price Totally agree
thats what i was thinking
+christopher price I don't know about that. What song do you think should be up there? Pervert?
+Chris Perrault I would say
+Chris Perrault Catalina, Hope, Bikeage could all replace a lot of songs on this list.
What does Watchmojo have against the Offspring?
Yeah they should have at least put Self Esteem in the honorable mentions because Smash is the most sold record released on a independent label ever.
Seriously. "All I want" could have easily been on this list
yep, the whole video i was all tense and thinking "don't you dare not include the offspring". epic fail
Smash
Who the hell are Offsprings or whatever they're called.
I completely and utterly, 100%, mostly agree.
Shipping up to Boston really?
Bro Hym from Penywise was so powerfull thateven my metals friend would play that one on the guitars a lot.
David Martin puff that shit is metal no punk
Yeah, but that's like the only punk song they even have on here
andres macias no
Cole Doucette no
1.Iggy Pop and the Stooges - Search and destroy
2.Sexpistols - Anarchy in UK
3. The Clash - White Riot
4. The Ramones - Blitzkrieg bop
+predrag bugraski good ones
Mainstream
+Cameron Kosak mainstream doesn't mean they're not good. Personally don't like them myself, though.
Cameron Kosak
we're talking punk anthems though, you'd have to have popular songs by default, no?
Chris Perrault
to be a punk anthem a song has to be recognized my the (or a {I suppose}) punk community as a stand out among all other punk songs and cause said community(ies) to collectively get a boner when it's played.
An anthem is: a rousing or uplifting song identified with a particular group, body, or cause.
Like Queen's We Are The Champions is an international sports community anthem played at sporting events big and small to get the punks in the crowd to stand up with the norms and quit picking their noses.
If they played more John Cougar Concentration Camp, Gay For Johnny Depp or The Winona Riders songs then more punks would likely attend sporting events regularly.
alrighty then, bye!
Everyone always forgets about The Cramps. Their music might not have necessarily been “punk”, but they were very pioneering as well in the punk scene.
AS WELL AS THE STOOGES. THEY WERE THE BEGINNING OF IT ALL
Idk why people are complaining about this being mainstream, the point is for them to be anthems, very recognizable songs not some underground shit
Punks not mainstream also they didn't even put popular music that's actually punk they fucking put green day, but not misfits
@@rogerburton9521 Not enough thumbs up for this post
I thought Rise Against would have gotten at least an honorable mention for "Give It All". Also, surprised to see nothing from Nomeansno.
Rise Against is amazing.
Give It All is such an amazing song! I'm glad a few others think the same!
Good band, but I personally wouldn't put them on this list. An honorable mention... maybe.
I don't know, Rise against isn't super punk
It depends on what era of Rise Against you are listening to.
Institutionalized at 10? Why not higher?, but i am happy it's here
+Zach Walker IKR
Cuz these list are a joke
Zach Walker because its crossover thrash
Pull my strings by Dead Kennedys should have been on this list. The lyrics are great
Just arrived on this page for nostalgic reasons; a lot more homework needs to be done. All the best! See & Violence.
I was eagerly awaiting for some Bad Religion song on the list... that's bummer!
yes! such a list is bullshit without bad religion!
I was waiting so eagerly for Do What You Want.
Yeah, tough to have a list without BR, but honestly I forgave pretty much all sins when they had Bro Hymn. Hard to complain after that.
was going to post this same thought
I want to conquer the world
generator
suffer
skyscraper
etc
I felt the same way with operation ivy. Atleast have Unity on here as an honorable mention damnit!
Everyone needs to chill out with the whole 'Green Day isn't punk' debacle. Yes earlier bands were the initial punk pioneers, and the other bands coming out don't sound quite like them. Music, like everything, evolves, and if you prefer the earlier stuff, than that's awesome, but telling people that they aren't real fans because they like more recent releases - even 90's - isn't cool. And whether something is pop punk or punk rock, irrespective of Green Day, shouldn't matter. Punk is dying because everyone says that punk is dying, fans are putting barriers between other fans. It's almost like punk has a conformity these days, the exact opposite of what punk is meant to be.
Before : Ramones
Now : Green Day
+Matilda Kaylock Green Day is influenced by punk like many others but it's actual more in the skater scene
Yeah but if you listen to Dookie, it's very close to Ramones,. Even if it's not the same sound, it's the same feeling.
+Girl Online I'm a skater but I dont like green day😂😂
I mean not everyone has to like the bands in the genre right? I don't like a lot punk/Rock Bands either
Appreciate the trainspotting cameo
The version of Holiday In Cambodia that I liked was the one from the Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death album, which was the same album that also had Police Truck.
Some better ones
Sham 69 - Borstal Breakout
Bow wow wow - C30 C60 C90
Pistols - God save the Queen
Buzzcocks - Everybody's happy nowadays
The Jam - In the city
Anders Wallin
You never see Buzzcocks on these lists... they were fucking great and they were actually a "true" punk band that kickstarted the whole DIY independent recording revolution. But in a way, not making it on these lists is punk as fuck. Good call though on Buzzcocks. "Everybody's Happy Nowadays" is a killer song. I think personally, I would probably nominate "What Do I Get." for the anthem list.
MonkyMonk729 __ Spiral Scratch - Buzzcocks 😀
Cockney Rejects
Rosida Andriyana ::oui, si, yessss, I'm a londoner haha..
Uk subs MISFITS vice sqaud ect ect
So the compilers of this list have never heard of bands like.
Stiff Little Fingers, The UK Subs, The Damned, Sham 69, The Ruts... etc etc etc...
Draugh39 Or Doctor Feelgood, Roxy Music, The Rezillos, Telvision, The Voidoids, The Slits. I agree, a lot's been missed out
The Damned and Sham 69 are just must haves in any punk list! All this pop punk doesn't count to me.
+Gabriel Rutherford oh shit dude I apologize their also a punk rock band I thought you were talking about the song my bad man
The Buzzcocks are an odd omission
+punkoid76 although they moved on to New Wave they started off as a punk band.
Didn’t expect a hard badass punk song like rise above like this song
Agnostic Front - gotta go
Boysetsfire - rookie / after the Eulogy
Social Distortion - 1945
Black Flag - nervous breakdown
Crisis - holocaust
Im happy NOFX made it in there
Even tho they didn’t play the best of songs for nofx
NOFX = RACISTS ..............
@@davidsilva563 wtf? How
Green Day's early stuff might be punk, but intentional or not they killed punk.
Maybe because they're not punk?
+HenryDoheenie Insommniac was Green Days last good album...
A7XRYAN29 Nimrod and American Idiot are fabulous
If you think punk is dead go tell that to the thousands of us busting our asses off for this music
+A7XRYAN29 nostalgic bullshit
London Calling is my personal No.1.
Number one punk anthem has to be Bored Teenagers by The Adverts, because if you were around in the late 70's that's exactly what you were.
Bro Hymn hits me on the heart. RIP all of my friends who passed away.
guys you need to realize that yeah not all of these are punk but even punk has subgenres. Pop-punk, Skate-punk, Surf-punk, Ska-punk, Hardcore-punk (borderline but still) etc
true
Punk shouldn't have sub-genres. that's just stupid, Punk is punk. then you have shitty emo music like green day
Jacob Hirst i dont care if they inspired green day the sex pistols sucked
I'd like to see you try and explain why Mario Chartouni
You also have to think of Glam punk. Mötley Crüe was the biggest
any ever heard tick tick boom lmao that for me is one of the best songs 😆
yes
What "the only band that matters" in 4th place? How'd that happen? And Social Distortion and Bad Religion should have made the list, with Ball & Chain for the former and Sorrow for the latter. But take your pick of songs from each band, and a case could probably be made for their place on this list.
a 90s skate punk band above Joe Strummer. it takes incompetence. I have nothing against pennywise but I much prefer the Clash, not only because they made history but because they have an unmistakable character
where is the exploited
Tomek Gacek yes! I love the USA, but fuck the u/a is such a great song
sid vicious was innocent is iconic
Fuck them bastards
Exploited! Barmy Army!
Flogging Molly - "Drunken Lullabies" should have earned a spot
Have love will travel by the sonics??
I think there should be a Video for every Genre... Punk is very big!
Just my personal opinion here. I love the Green Day album 'Dookie', but Green Day is not Punk. Yes, you can tell they are, in part, influenced by punk. But they are still not Punk. To me it's like putting My Chemical Romance into a top 10 Goth bands list.
I think Green day is punk rock, not punk
Beatriz Gaspar Why do you think you can divide punk by saying "punk rock, not punk"? and Green Day is pop punk by the way.
Who cares just listen. Green day is the shit MCR is the shit. Do we have to label every damned thing.
Not putting you or your comment down or anything btw.
Green Day was once punk. Their first two albums were the definition of punk.
I'll make my own damn list...
10. Ball and Chain - Social Distortion
9. Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphys
8. Anarchy in the U.K. - Sex Pistols
7. American Jesus - Bad Religion
6. California Uber Alles - Dead Kennedys
5. Radio - Rancid
4. Rise Above - Black Flag
3. Straight Edge - Minor Threat
2. Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
1. White Riot - The Clash
I just went to a concert that played L7, ST, pennywise, and ranchid and it was sick
I can relate to trying to get a pepsi and then finding myself being in the middle of a mosh pit. Happens every other tuesday and sunday.
I totally agree with the number one. There is never ever going to be a more punk thing than the Pistols.
Complain as much as you want about Green Day. This list is not about top bands but top songs and Basket Case is punk as it gets.
Without Green Day and Offspring we had no ideea what punk is in the 90's.
They brought it back and they did brilliant. The fact that they move to pop later it's a whole filthy different story.
+Gabi X Thank you
+Gabi X Bad Religion hit it big in the 90's... before both those bands and BR is actually a good band. :P
Gabi X I agree, except we would still have punk in the 90s with bad religion
Almost died when I saw Iggy Poo, lol
"There is never ever going to be a more punk thing than the Pistols."
Are you fucking kidding me. There will never be anything LESS punk than the Sex Pistols. The Sex Pistols is the whiniest most wannabe group of poseurs there is.
Blitz, Exploited, Casualties, Rancid, Pennywise, Ramones, Addicts, The Clash, Distillers, Stance Punks, Cherry Cokes Beer..
I looove The Distillers, but they were relatively new. And they’d prob include “City of Angels” anyway, when they had way better songs
Gotta good food and some punk anthem what you need yayayaya , blessed up❤️☮️
The fact that they chose the top song that pops up when they search the band name gives me blueballs
How the fuck is London calling not number 1!
I wouldn't say 'moron'; he didn't exactly petition for Green Day as #1
Come on it had to be a Sex pistols song, but I agree it should've been ten
you're kidding, right?
Not even a great song...White Riot would have been a better choice but I doubt it was ever heard in you tube land
Because it was the first crap Clash song
I always thought of Suicidal Tendencies as thrash but still punk. Green day is definitely pop punk they could have been replaced with Circle Jerks Wild in the Streets or the Misfits
Finally someone with a brain
Green Day is punk. Listen to actual pop punk bands like Bowling For Soup or Hit the Lights, it's a lot different and lighter than Green Day.
Grizz Bell Green day is still pop punk
Alejandro Esparza Nope. Some of their newer albums are mostly pop punk, but Green Day is a Punk band.
Grizz Bell to me they will always be a pop group. Watch a video by The Daily guru on Greenday.
Great compilation! Rancid's Time Bomb was released 1995 not 1985
Right? Band wasn’t even together in 1985!
There are some really good songs covered in this video top dollar
Why aren't the misfits on hear?!
"All I wanted was a Pepsi and she wouldn't give it to me, All I wanted was a Pepsi, Just a Pepsi." Favorite line in that song.
More ‘70s and ‘90s, please!
"Time Bomb" '85 ?
why is green day not punk but the ramones are? they both play fast paced songs with a couple of power chords about stuff that (mostly) isn't political. If you think about it, if the Ramones formed now, they would get called posers and shit. and if Green Day came out when the Ramones came out, they would be called punk legends.
Well said
You just answered your own question.
I think most of the green day hate comes from their later stuff like ‘forever now’ and ‘nightlife’
Although I disagree that they should be hated, their first 10-14 years they were punk and should be recognised as such
Erty Berty I quite liked Forever Now, and the whole Revolution Radio Album to be honest, however I can see where all the hate for Green Day is coming
One thing is to reinvent rock in 1974 by playing music that nobody cares about, while 3 people come to see you and the others think you're a freak and you continue, and another thing is to do something already done in the past .
no bad relegion?
Watch mojo doesn’t know the first thing about punk or what it stands for or how much modern society needs it back
I am not surprised London Calling is in this video...
(I can still like the clash even if I am not even 20)
OddNoobSwe I’m thirteen and they’re one of my favorites
