Shit, I did.
I love green day, don't get me wrong, but I don't think they fit the 'pop punk' genre. I'd say they would go under punk or rock
yup, pretty much the same for me
+Ruby dub dub (wuby) well, their songs would be considered just 'punk', like Basket Case or Horseshoes and Handgrenades, but their newest songs seem too give off the pop punk mood going on here
so you're 13-15 I assume?
The offspring were one of the first bands in the genre and they don’t even get an honorable mention. Wow
They are Skate punk, but with a little hunt of pop punk
Schreeching weasel is more pop punk than the offspring. The offspring is melodic hardcore.
offspring and sum41 aren't really pop-punk, i'm glad to see that simple plan is behind yellowcard
Homie I’m a huge punk fan from pop punk to hardcore punk… the offspring ain’t that good
Neither is a day to remember to fair. Offspring isn't pop punk but Americana album was
Y'all really left out The All-American Rejects? 🤔
All of people also left out Pennywise.
Joe Neri well that’s at rock cause each album sounds different
I suggest Give Them Hell!

@@joeneri150 Pennywise pop punk? Ive never heard that one before.
I love Blink, Sum 41 and Greenday so much.
My all time favourite are sum 41
@@tkmusic6038 after this year sum 41 still stayed on the second place I guess ^^ great band

All of my favorites we have to be friends 😂
My 3 favorite bands, in that order. We play late 90s / early 2000s style pop punk just like them! Check us out if you have a minute :)
Sum 41 easily earns at least a #4 spot.
+MrSpencerMcIntosh I'd say #3.
+Grizz Bell Fall Out Boy definitely deserves the number 3 spot if you know your Pop-Punk history, they defined a lot of the sound. Not so much nowadays.
Even their best albums, although good, I wouldn't consider all that Pop Punk. Too heavy on the Pop in my opinion.
Grizz Bell Yeah it was more melodic and thats why they got popular, they were catchy. But they defined that aspect of Pop Punk for a lot of bands.
+MrSpencerMcIntosh Pop punk is supposed to sound like Sum 41. Fall Out Boy might be good, but they barely have any 'punk' in their pop punk. They're basically pop music with guitars. So yeah, Sum deserves to be at number 3, not FOB.
Blink 182, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Sum 41 were very iconic, love them

Green Day and Blink-182 deserve the #1 spot
Ciaran MacDonald Not really, blink-182 > Green Day
Green day ya but not Blink-182
Early green day but mid to late blink
Green Day is a joke, lol.
Athena what did you just say
Good Charlotte should have actually made the list, rather than just being an honorable mention. They were pretty iconic at their time.
They're also intensely generic and that may be why they were an honorable mention.
THANK YOU!
blink-182 and PS2 are great things
Couldn't agree more
So many people forget how big they actually were in the 2000's. They're not the greatest band in the world but they were more popular than Simple Plan and Yellowcard. I'd argue they deserve a slot here for basically being the first of the "emo-pop" bands to break through.
while people are complaining about Green Day not beeing in 1° place, im trying to understand how Sum 41 is in 5° place
NewFoundGlory better than Sum? Not by a long shot.
well sum 41 is not that much of a punk band. 13 Voices, Screaming Bloody Murder and Chuck were Alternative Metal albums so i dont know maybe its cuz of that? i still agree that sum 41 had to placed number 3!
i guess thats it they dont have many pop punk songs
Also good charlotte is a lot better than new found glory that’s why they were headlining the tour in 2002 ahead of NFG less than jake and... Greenday but that was also before American Idiot dropped
Ikr
i know their newer stuff is more alternative rock but Panic! at the Disco should've at LEAST gotten an honorable mention
+hi im hailee YASSSSSS
Yes!
That's exactly what I thought!
+hi im hailee Why was it not there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
i found tumblr
Im still looking for Bowling For Soup

Tom DeLonge went alien hunting
Adam Sanderson yeah man leaving blink alone
Angels and Airwaves

Hey Nimrod
Sure did pay off tho, he got the government to admit they were basically real
1: Green Day
2: Blink-182
3: Sum 41
Salvador Allende it’s those three in whatever order you chose but it’s always those three
@Dávid Tácsik the offspring are punk rock/hardcore punk
Sum 41 > Green Day
Green Day is for beginners in punk
blink-182 its way better than green day, green day is good but they totally sell themselves
Why are there so many green day fans hating on blink but like no blink fans hating on green day?
GamefXd Blink is God!
GamefXd Green Day is in the hall of fame and put pop punk on the map and they are 2?
crazedmartinez Exactly,Green Day writes sensible songs, political songs and have been around longer than Blink-182.
Meh. I'm a big fan of both.
I like both
Where is the offspring? Not even an honorable mention? I'm not even a fan of them but they should be top 5.
Nah they're trash and will always be trash. more like butt punk
I think offspring isn't pop punk for me is punk
They think of themselves as punk not pop punk and they sound punk too
I just found out that The Offspring is mostly considered Punk Rock. Now here's my opinion: If The Offspring is Punk Rock, 90s' Green Day is Punk Rock as well.
Einz Mesel I think Green Day is punk rock so it’s fine with me
1. Green Day
2. Blink 182
3. FOB (if we are counting them)
4. Sum 41
5. Good Charlotte
6. Bowling for Soup
7. Yellow card
8. All Time Low
9.Paramore
10. Idk
10: simple plan
personally, i think green day and blink should have switches places
Yes
No fudge off Green day is a bunch of druggies Blink 182 is funny and does not do drugs
orion shields You don't know shit about punk if you don't approve drugs
Drugs have nothing to do with their music, Kurt Cobain was a heroin addict, yet Nirvana are still a legendary band, so your logic is flawed.
as a blink 182 fan, I completely agree with you
So basically, when punk finally hit the mainstream in the 90's, it opened the flood gates for all the copycat bullshit in the following decade. Bands who all look and sound nearly identical to one another, and people who didn't care about punk music before suddenly latching onto it because it was now "cool". I wouldn't say any of these bands are terrible, but they all seem like commercialized versions of bands before them who never got their deserved recognition. Green Day are really the only ones with roots in the traditional sense.
***** you are like my spokesman :) you said it all
***** As all of that is true I think saying that these bands don't know about the punk bands before them is wrong. Yeah Pop Punk doesn't have the ideologies as Punk it doesn't need to. Punk had it's time when it happened because the world needed a kick in the ass all around the world. Pop Punk has some of those ideals, like how they are mostly 'heavy' guitar but not chuggy metal. Essentially it's like Punk's angry teenager. Then the angry teenager grows up and moves onto their own things. Like Paramore and Panic! moved from pop punk to more Pop Rock and Electronic stuff.
Punk being mainstream or generic is a paradox of ideologies, therefore eliminating the idea that any of these bands are in fact punk at all
***** "Cough Cough" MxPx "Cough Cough"
First, Blink
Second, Green Day
Third, Sum 41
Fourth, New Found Glory
Fifth, Good Charlotte
Green Day first.
I wouldn’t even go as far as saying green day is pop punk. The tone isn’t even there for them. I think they brought punk to the mainstream, but as far as “pop punk’s” tone goes green day doesn’t really fit in it at all.

Sum41, blink, New Found Glory and green day are the forever Pop punk defining bands. But green day and blink pioneered it.
Tom Stiles NFG was right there to 1997.
Actually. The Ramones and Buzzcocks pioneered it
Sam J. Boomhauer well pioneering pop punk but yes Ramones and Buzzcocks pioneered the punk genre
I wish NFG got more credit than they do. They STILL make great stuff today (which cannot be said for Blink) and they help promote smaller and up and coming bands in the scene.

@@JCDenton2000 lyrics doesn't define the emo genre
No idea why Simple Plan and Yellowcard made it over Good Charlotte. GC sold more records than either of those bands and had more hit singles.
LITERALLY!! THANK YOU
I came in here knowing that Blink-182 was going to be number 1.
Kyle Thomas i thoght green day was but blink is good too :) at least they were #2
Kyle Thomas yeah same :3
Kyle Thomas Green Day should have been #1
Opaque Visions U FUK N' WUT M8T? lol, I love every band on this list, PUNK rock FOREVER well a bit more pop punk nowadays but yeah. While I don't agree with the order of the list, I do believe Blink-182 has been number one because of their music is a bit better than Greenday's mostly because I listen to Blink on a daily basis but Greenday based on my mood.
LegoGuy20000 Your daily obsession with Blink has nothing to do with fact. When I think "Pop Punk," yes, blink-182 is the first band that comes to mind because they are the definition of Pop Punk. However, Green Day basically took all the ground work that was laid out by Punk bands and invented Pop Punk. Without Green Day, none of these bands would exist.
Guess I'm the only one whose favourite band is The Story So Far?
TSSF should've been at least #2
Connor Middlemiss THANK YOU.
Half of these bands aren't even pop punk???
+Pyrostuff They should of made two lists of the originals and the newer pop-punk bands. TSSF would be #1 on the newer list.
TheMrBenny123 Absolutely.
There are a lot of people complaining about Green Day being better than blink-182, but pop punk it’s not about being polish or have more records, you are missing the point, pop punk it’s about energy, attitude, and being chill
Blink-182 is the perfect example of pop punk, even over green day, because they are not trying so hard (not that there’s anything wrong with that) so yeah, maybe for some of you Green Day is a better band, but when it comes to embrace the pop punk movement, blink-182 are iconic.
Very well said, sir. This is the logic GD fans don't want to understand.
yeah we obviously fans ahhahaha
I prefer green day but i can agree
fuck u
Blinker I couldn’t agree more. I love Green Day to death and prefer them over blink but they just aren’t that pop punk. Not surprising, considering Billy Joe Armstrong hates the term pop punk. I also think when speaking of bands like sum 41 or new found glory it’s perfectly fine to use the term pop punk, but Green Day are just on a higher level.
although they arent as well known, i will always credit Bowling For Soup for being a band worthy of producing consistently good and incredibly catchy songs
Yes!
Absolutely! I love 1985, high school never ends, and almost

green day was around before blink
Adam Neilson yes but will never be as successful
And where the heck are The Offspring?
***** Skate punk
Floods The Offspring go through many variations of Punk, which includes Pop Punk. The majority of their singles over the past 10-15 years I would classify as Pop Punk. They put A Day to Remember on here, who they even stated are mixed genre.
yeah the Offspring sren't really pop punk....also does anyone else agree that blink isn't pop punk unless they are talking about TOYPAJ and anything after that? because anything before that was definitely just punk rock
EnergeticxCheese if the offspring are punk then so are green day
Albums like Americana, Conspiracy of One and Splinter are more Pop Punk. And with blink everything before TOYPAJ including TOYPAJ is Pop Punk.
Green Day and The Offspring are my favs (;

Green day n sum 41 is punk rock
Well the punk bands say we’re not punk either. Being a Green Day fan is like a curse. You get called a 12 year old, your musical preference is lambasted, no one likes or accepts you (not even the other fans), and everyone else thinks American Idiot is their most popular song (and people question why some people commit genocide).

9 SR-71
8 Bowling For Soup
7 Simple Plan
6 All Time Low
5 A Day To Remember
4 Good Charlotte
3 Sum 41
2/1 Green Day/ Blink 182 (it they could go in any order for me)
***** I prefer Bowling for Soup overall but I think that SR-71's version of '1985' is much better
If you're talking about FOB's new music I can understand but I think they're older hits were fucking amazing
+MrMcMaster12 I don't think they're terrible but i just don't like them. Although I've only heard a couple of songs off of their first album and I am slightly interested in it
+Average Music Reviews listen to their second and third albums. Those are 2 of their most fan fav albums so I've heard and I personally really like them
+Could Careless well these people aren't really good at making lists. They're pretty bad at it
Dam they straight up had SR-71 and American Hi-Fi in the beginning but not even as honorable mentions.
My heart almost sank when I thought that Blink was just an “honorable mention” but they are actually #1 - which i totally agree with... they really impacted the pop punk movement through the 90s! But i still think that bowling for soup should have had a place somewhere in the list
My thoughts exactly
Heart ❤️ Sank 🙄😂😂😂 I wouldn't go that far sir 😂😂😂
No way blink 182 is bigger than greenday in anyway but oh well
** I hate to arguee styles with people but here are a few things
1) Green Day isn't pop-punk, they kinda "caused" pop-punk by their "melodic punk rock style" . Green Day is too much "aggressive" to be "pop-punk"
2) If you're gonna put Green Day in a "pop-punk" category, at least, put them at the top, without them, none of the above ever exist.
William Barbeau Totally agree.
William Barbeau This is exactly how I feel. I would put them in the Punk Rock genre, but they would at least be number 1 of Pop Punk bands.
William Barbeau LOL. Melodic punk rock IS pop-punk brah.
Actually, the descendents were the first pop punk band.
Joseph Bellamy Pop-punk = Punk Rock with stupid/teenage topics. Yeah we could argue that Dookie is kind-of pop-punk (even though, songs are about depression and stuff, (instead of "OH MY GOD, I FAILED THIS TEST)) but, I still think Green Day would dominate(if we were to put them in this category)
Ummm excuse me, Sunrise Skater Kids should be #1

Can't I argue that Blink deserved the #1 and also be happy that TSSF made it to the honorable mentions?
Same. I saw them in califonia, berkly it was a holiday show
Yeah, but where the fuck is BFS????
Good Charlotte and All American Rejects should have been on this list...
Green Day is just straight Punk Rock, but if you're going to place them as Pop Punk, they're hands down the best Pop Punk band of all time. Blink is a close second, but the top 2 on this list should be switched.
GREEN DAY is just a good band in general pop punk sucks ass
yeah but blink actually made pop punk so...
Matt elness Green Day basically caused Pop Punk.
Grizz Bell um no descendents did. Descendents need to be number one, green day number 2, blink number 3, and the rest of these bands need to go on a different list.
mn chaos I would consider the Descendents Punk Rock, but you're right.
No Offspring? Smash is the best selling album ever released on an independent record label! Also, no Rancid...? Seriously watch mojo??? O_o
The offspring is not pop punk
Just because it's more melodic than typical punk, does not make it pop punk.

+joel pettersson 😂 I should have put the all american rejects in there though
boxcar racer were an amazing band but they weren't very pop punk more punk rock or hardcore punk
Elaina x yeah that's true they are more punk rock
I agreed with the list all the way up to #2, Blink 182 should have been 2 and Green Day deserves #1.
Right?? I wonder why Watchmojo put GD on number 2
MY top 3:
1. Blink 182
2. Sum 41
3. Bowling for Soup
Grindjuls respek fr bfs
I love BFS!
No Bowling for soup?!
yes
Good
It isn't really punk at all
who?
pop-punk. The. Biggest. Oxymoron. Ever.
***** I know it means popular. That's why it is an oxymoron. Punk was never meant to be popular or accepted by the mainstream.
Die Younger But in some cases it was.
I've been saying that for years, the whole point of the punk movement was rebellion, not preaching bout some broad they met
uztre6789 True. You could state that Sex Pistols were contradictive for appearing on tv shows but yet I believe they used as an advantage to show off their anarchistic music, gain popularity and followers and piss off everyone. Yet even John Lydon soon hated the movement with people becoming less original. Even Undertones and Ramones were writing about popular subjects. Some punks were rejects. Others not.
Die Younger Rebeling but in a conformal way haha
1. Green Day
2. blink 182
3. Sum 41
4. MCR
5. Brand New
MCR is Emo, not Pop Punk
Mxpx yayyyy!! I didn't think y'all would include them
Woohoo
Sum 41, The Offspring, Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy will be forever in my heart
Green Day? Good Charlotte?
No all American rejects I hate my life now ill just "Move along" now if you disagree do you wanna "Swing,Swing" I'll "Give You Hell" no one gets the references I bet yeah ill just go
I agree with All American Rejects
xD
dude that might have been the greatest sentence i have ever read
great references but ur trying to hard to be funny
+Sean The Duck I know that's the jome
You should make a part two for this. I feel like The Story So Far deserve a 5th place at least
When I was watching this, I was surprised that Green Day was number 2, then I was thinking who could number 1 be, when they revealed it was blink-182, I was like "Ohhhhhhh, OK" I'm just happy my favorite band made the list: Simple Plan!!!
Make another damn list and put in State Champs and Neck deep. FUCKING DO IT!!!
I KNOW RIGHT
Also Masked Intruders
they are garbage
state champs sound gay
maybe if they made a top 10 "new age" pop punk bands
Excuse me but
Sum 41 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fall Out Boy
My list:
10- All-American Rejects (when pop-punk was falling down, they got more popular that they were)
9- Yellowcard (the use of violin added a melodic sound to the powerfull pop-punk)
8- Simple Plan (at their time they were really huge, with lots of hits, I think that they are a little underrated)
7- Good Charlotte (also big at their time and really influential to the modern bands of the genre)
6- Paramore (made when pop-punk was re-borning and with a girl vocalist...tell me if that isn't influential)
5- New Found Glory (really huge at the glory of pop-punk and really influential though their low pupularity)
4- Fall Out Boy (this were the guys that started the re-growing of pop-punk and lead to popular bands of the genre that we know now)
3- The Offspring (although they were more punk rock, I have to admit that after Smash they were more pop-punk. They were really influential in the 90's and also pioneers of the genre)
2- Sum 41 (when there was Blink, there was also Sum 41, one of the first bands to grow on the gold era of pop-punk and helped to lead other bands to also become famous)
Honorable mentions:
- Jimmy Eat World
- Yellowcard
- All Time Low
- A Day To Remember
- Panic! At The Disco
- Bowling For Soup
(In my opinion Rancid and NOFX are Punk Rock not Pop Punk)
1- Green Day/Blink-182
For me both are #1 so they share places, also an excuse to put another band on the list xD.
(Blink were the ones who started the gold era of pop punk and one of the most influential bands of the genre / Green Day were THE pioneers of pop-punk, helped popularising the genre in the 90's with The Offspring and also became extremely big where pop-punk was losing it's fame, tell me if they aren't a GREAT band)
Better list than the video itself
Great list my dude
I went to see bowling for soup for my 12th birthday and simple plan played as support band and it was awesome
I personally think Green Day should have been number one. But I still love Blink anyways.
agreed x2
that's exactly what i said when i saw green day was second and blink was first XD
Do you commenters realize that pop punk means popular punk? It has nothing to do with regular pop music.
Doesn't matter pop punk is shit he only 2 good bands on here are green day and blink
Pink Storm not really. i means they fuse pop music elements with punk
Pink Storm It's actually called pop punk because it's soft and was made for rebelling 12 year olds.
I'm glad MxPx is on the list. They are pretty underrated and not so widely known to many people
I saw them open for blink-182 years back. Absolutely horrible!!!. It was a drummer's birthday they played one song and just had a whipped cream party on stage 🙄🤦 not a way to give your fans what they paid for just saying 🤦🤷
Where is the offspring?
What about my Chemical Romance, rise against and jimmy eat world..not on their list? Smh.
1Green Day
2 Offspring
3Sum41
Green Day and The Offspring are not pop punk
What are they then?
Hi Im Craiggerz
Uh riiiiightttttt
They're pretty much just punk rock. Not pop punk.
Offspring is more punk in general (they have a bit to much metal influence to be pop) early green day, some of Sum 41 and Screaching Weasel is pop punk.
I'm a Green Day fan but they already get a ton of love in other WM videos. Let Blink get the love they absolutely deserve.
Not bad but 3 errors, 1. Simple plan by any stretch of the imagination should not be on this list (offspring or Descendents should have taken that spot) 2. Fall out boy is part of the EMO TRINITY 3. Green day should in my opinion should have the #1 spot due to melodic structure
Simple Plan sucks.
Simple plan are awsome
Simple Plan #8 is absolutely crazy! Simple Plan is still going strong, and this video was made in 2016. Many collabs, many hits, and still making mega hits.
A Day To remember is EZcore. Y'know, pop-punk + metalcore. Get it right, WatchMojo.
+Calla Doran Yes!
+Calla Doran Easycore is the same genre basically because metalcore is punk + a tiny bit of metal. Either way they're both dissapointing genres
xComiiT 1. Not really. Metalcore is hardcore + metal. I get that at this point it doesn't really matter, but it seems inaccurate to put A Day To Remember in a list of pop-punk bands.
2. That's your opinion, and I must respectfully disagree.
Calla Doran Hardcore is punk lol
xComiiT It's a subgenre of punk, but that doesn't mean there isn't a clear distinction between the two styles. Sure, all hardcore is punk, but not all punk is hardcore.
Ladies and gentleman, the reason we have lots of subgenres.
I think All time low should have been more than an honourable mention
Same
yep
All Time Fucking No
All time sell outs
true
Funny thing is that New Found Glorys guitar player Chad Gilbert came from the Florida hardcore scene, he was the original lead singer of Pompano Beach hardcore band Shai Hulud, and about 7 years ago did a second brief stint as their lead singer
Not even an honorable mention for Neck Deep?
Ikr
icehornet 15 or The All-American Rejects
2010's -_-
Neck Deep weren't very big at the time of this video. This was probably before Life's Not Out To Get You was released.
The Wonder Years not even an honorable mention? Also, I feel like NFG should be a wee bit higher
Yeah i dont i understand how the wonder years are not even on here
Thank you! Going through the comments seeing everyone whining about Panic! At The Disco and MCR, and I'm like "What about The Wonder Years?"
+Kevin Doughty NFG was right before FOB. Then Green Day, then Blink. Soooo I'm sorry, but I just can't agree with you on the fact that they should be higher.
+NATE Currey based on pure pop punk, NFG>FOB and Green Day
Kevin Doughty Eh...that's a good point....
DEFEND POP PUNK (few will get this)
DEFEND POP PUNK FUCK THE HATERS
MAN OVERBOAAAAARD
awwwww how cute, u thing Pop Punk is worth defending, who bout u piss off now
I WOULD LITERALLY DIE FOR POP PUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pop punk is a dead genre, with the endless churning out of the same bands over and over and over and over.
Is no one gonna talk about how the worst band of the 2000s is the 8th best pop punk band in their eyes?
Its glad to see Story so far in the list :3
Has anyone heard of Tonight Alive? They're a good band. They're touring with ATL.
Finally, someone else who likes them!
Yes they're so good!!!
ankura kc YES TONIGHT ALIVE ♥
ankura kc saw them on their the other side tour!! they killed it! :D
yes!!
What?Green Day is the most punk and has the best music.
Exactly. Green day is more on the punk rock side. Their lyrics (excluding the trilogy) are more serious and focus on subjects like political issues and the darker side of a person. If it was "top 10 punk rock bands", you bet that Green day would be no1.
no
Definitely not the most punk
LittleBennny green day is the most influentual band among the punk genre. And their american idiot album was pretty fucking punk.
"most influential band among the punk genre" - no
The fact MxPx is still making music today is crazy.
Saw good Charlotte on Saturday and they are still great
