Haha...came back to watch this on my Tab S 8.4. Yes, it still works great! There is nothing on the market like this anymore! OLED, compact, light with super high resolution and it still runs every single app I throw at it. Man, this was worth the money! Wish they still made this size!

@@gustavo8708 I haven't found anything that does NOT work on it. I am using a custom launcher too. It is slow at the beginning while it runs updates but then it stabilizes and works really well!
I am excited to buy a secondhand refurbished one (Wifi only version) from China for only USD 65. And planning to install Android 10 Lineage OS. I will used it primarily for music, reading pdf books, watching videos. I am planning to use solely for self-development so using heavy apps wont matter. I like it because of its stunning screen
Still one of the best tablets around with the high ppi, in my opinion.

I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it

Yes Josh, TouchWiz is still TouchWiz, Sense is still Sense, stock Android is still stock Android. Why does he say this only in Samsung reviews? Haha, I can't imagine they would completely change their skin, but hope they just remove the stuff that so few people use. (Or I don't use rather) like Kids Mode, S Voice, and the gestures. OR just give an option to download these things rather than having them come preinstalled.

That's not really changing TouchWiz much though. Most of the gimmicky crap is just added on and isn't really a part of main design. I'm talking about changing the entire look and functionality of TouchWiz. (LIke these skins in lesser know phones that try to be different just to be different.) Though you could argue that Samsung removing the gimmicky crap in their products would be a big change.
Sense and stock have both changed drastcally since say 2.3, whereas Touchwiz is still pretty much the same, and it's terrible.
What's so bad about TuchWiz? It's not nearly as bad as people say it is, just some useless crap in it.
Mindless Mouth Movement Bloated to about 8GB worth of shit, lags all over the place, terrible design, tries to ram Samsung apps down your throat when people only want Google apps.
2017 and still watch this 8.7 inch tab s, really hope to reborn this tab to tab s 2017 or 201x with 6gb ram and 258gb internal. love the aspec ratio much

Had one of these for 4 years - slow compared to modern phone but the display still looks brilliant - Never regretted getting this.
I use mine daily, its March 21 2022, I loveeee this tablet I bought it from some guy cuz it kept boot cycling and I opened it and repaired it, its lovely I game on it everyday a game called "Summoners War" the screen quality is insane it looks beautiful, super sharp and I also modded it, I have it running on Lineage OS 14 I believe or android 7.1.2 nougat, its very snappy, doesn't lag at all, lineage helped to get rid of most of the boatware so its fastttt has plenty of ram, on average use i have 1.5gb ram free so its not slow, its just a very fun tablet mines not white like this one, mines bronze or like brown/gold looking, but I love it, plus the lineage OS allows me to disable the light up back and menu buttons on the bottom or dim them and when disabling them it adds an on screen function back,home and menu button, its just an over all fun enjoyable tablet I wouldn't trade it for anything I just love it, and I paid $30 American from the guy I bought it from and repaired it myself I couldn't be more happy, this tablet replaced my old failing nexus 2013 lol I still have my nexus for memories though :$
Got one yesterday typing this on my S it's perfect so glad I waited I was gonna go with the mini but the multi tasking and open source environment in addition to the long battery life 290 grams of weight. It's perfect! Sometimes I do experience a lag when the 3 gigs of ram are topped but it's not very noticeable. I can even use my Samsung phone virtually on top of the screen while my cell is charging it's so cool. It doesn't feel as cheap as the tab 3 plastic design two thumbs up :))))
Would you recommend the 8.4 or 10.5 inch? I am looking to get the tablet mainly for media usage i.e social media, youtube videos and movies. I have had a feel for both the models and the 10.5 inch model does seem to weigh a bit but i love the big screen. The 8.4 on the other hand is so light and feels good with one handed usage. Don't know which to choose...

If you are losing your zeal for tablets I recommend using the Tab S with an Infinity Binder. I'm still not too impressed with the experience of writing on a tablet so I prefer to write on the binder's dry erase page, scan it to the tablet via an app such as TurboScan, and then I can use the tablet for what it is really good at doing --- which is storing, organizing, viewing, editing, and sharing pdfs and pictures. All of the sudden your tablet has purpose again. I love it.
And this Tab S should be perfect for doing this due it's high quality camera and flash.

Hi I really like the Magazine interface, but I'm struggling to find a way to get movie and film updates to show on any of the tiles. I noticed that Tab pros had a movie widget but the tab S line doesn't seem to have it and then when I click settings on the various widgets and click Discover More, nothing happens. Can anyone assist me?

Hi Joshua! I would really like a comparison between the Tab Pro line and the Tab S line. I thought the tab Pro line was supposed to be a flagship line because of its great specs so what is the real difference between the two? The screen?
How can people stand having the black bars at the top and bottom of videos(@ 2:45 )? I have the nexus 10 and absolutely hate CZcams on it for that reason.

I love my Tab S 8.4. One thing I am not overly fond of tho is the oversaturation of colors. While this isn't an issue in every day use, you will notice it in some games. For example, Boom Beach is one game where it is very prominent.
I think you can change how the display appears in the settings but I don't know much about that.
+Kadene Harvey Yes, you can. You can also use a very handy app known as "Screen Filter" from the Play Store. Great battery saver also.

Get it into Basic mode, in the display settings... no more saturation, and is 'basic'.
Its almost the end of 2023 and im still using this tab for media consumption and light games.
I am really considering to get this tablet or the 10.5 version. But I have heard people's reviewing and saying that this tablet drains the battery really fast because of the AMOLED display. If this is true, I want to know how long is the battery duration if you were, say, doing nothing on it but watching CZcams videos in comparison with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)'s battery life?
currently using one almost 8 months old i got the lte version t705
full charge only lasted 5-6 hrs not even heavy usage just facebook / browsing / lite gaming
is it normal?
I thought the tablet would last for 12 hours of HD video-playback but it didn't plus I turned on airplane mode, turning on power saving mode and brightness at 25% and it gave me like 3 to 4 hours of battery life! Why!!!! Pls help me
Hi... my Samsung Tab A 10 was stolen today. I am looking online for a cheap replacement mostly for occasional Class of Clans games, email and light browsing. Would you still recommend it (Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4) for around Saudi Riyal 549.00 (US$ 146.00) price here in Saudi Arabia? Or could you recommend a better option for around US$ 150 price range.

Cameras on tablets should be good enough to take pictures of fine print. (For copying paperwork and stuff) Thats all theyre really used for.
I was just thinking there is no reason to have a camera on a tablet. That's one. Never thought of it.

Very good review ! This tablet is still one of the best ever made - very good battery , good hardware , 4G , amazing resolution and graphics ! For example it's better and easier to play android games on 8" ( on this tablet is 8.4" but it's not much bigger than 8" ! ) screen than on 9 or 10" screens .

Amoled displays are like eye candy to me. Im amazed every time i look at my S5 display. Its soo good.

i have the tab s 8.4 and its awesome. i upgraded from the tab 3 8.0. which still runs without lag to this day but my wife stole it from me lolz but this tab has no lag at all and screen is just amazing. only thing i didnt like was the magazine UX so im running nova launcher.
Please check latest back cover for overheated issue.
It would be awesome if Samsung lowered a little the production and updated devices more frequently like the GT-N8013.

hey everyone , i bought this tablet like 4 days ago and i installed cpu temp app on it and have the cpu temp overlay ON
and i can see that sometimes depending on what im doing loading vids or huge amount of pics or installing
the temp hits 70~ or so and then it drops , i wanted to know if its normal or there is something wrong with my tablet
the back of tablet however does not get hot at all , it only gets a little warm nothing to even notice but the app is what's worrying me
if anyone can try it on his tablet or has info about how the temp should be share please can help me a lot thanks :)
