Here is my first update on my experience with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. The 8.4, 2560x1600 Super AMOLED display paired with solid internal hardware, make this the best sub 10 in tablet on the market in 2014. Enjoy!

I've been using tab S 8.4 for about 2 month now. Overall it is very good. No problem so far...
Thanx for the nice review but I tested 3 Samsung tablets, the Samsung Tab Pro 10 inch, 12,2 inch and the Note Pro 12.2 inch. All 3 tablets couldn't handle pdf files without lots of lag and rendering took to much time. In opposite the Dell Venue 11 pro ( Baytrail ) I now have has totaly no lag or long time for rendering when switch pages. The same I experienced also on my Samsung Galaxy S4, lag and rendering when switch pages takes to much time. Maybe it is an bug in Android but therefor I witched to an Windows tablet.
I just had to have the mother board replaced! Purchased 5 months ago. Still excellent service from Samsung Malaysia.
after watching this and where you compared it with the 10.5s, am confused with choice. like I said easier, I can ditch my pen for super amoled. do I get the 10.5 or the 8.4?
Awesome review. That display is fantastic.
You mentioned the new USB 3.0 port charges faster than the standard MicroUSB port. Not true. The additional pins/port present on 3.0 has nothing to do w/power, it's for data. How fast your device is charged will have more to do with the DC adapter (i.e., amp output). Thickness, quality, & length of the cable will also affect charging rate.
I had this one, lte version for a few months. It was great! But for some reason i sold it and bought iPad mini retina and i dont regret it. The workflow on My iPad is so much better... I like The Idea of samsung but its just to much. To much features i never use.
I love this tabley, its the best, I have absolutely no complaints.
Guys I took a chance Amazon had this slightly used model brought in white got it home so far it is great. I payed 138 dollars. Brought it for that display.. much love and I always would buy new.
except its too slow and CANNOT handle more than a page of typing. how to tell if i am deceiving you or saying the truth..??
open the Note app and type a small paragraph then copy what you have typed and paste it again in the same Note then repeat paste 10 times you will see the note jamming and wont scroll anymore.
why do i still come back to watch this video. So addictive. Do you still recommend this in 2017 as all the new ones out there are of lower spec.

I have this and I'm taking it back - The processor and graphics display is just too slow, there is a great deal of lag - look elsewhere.
heres a tip, right now best buy is doing a 10% off of all open box items that are already marked down 10%, so i got my galaxy tab S for 300 bucks, and it was basically brand new. absolutly nothing wrong with it, and absolutly no scratches. if you can get one at your local best buy, DO IT. its a fantastic tablet and 100 bucks off for basically nothing

Omg this was my first Android tablet. I had to ask my dad to pitch in bc it was like $400 haha I ended up giving it a girl I liked; she thought it was great bc of the design but of course she didn't know how old it was 😋 haha What's your all-time fav Samsung tablet?

You dont need the tab s 8.4 because the tab s 8.4 and tab pro 8.4 are very similar
I would say wait for the note version of the tab s 10.5

Hi just read some of the comments here and I am skeptical now. I want to get the tablet for my wife who would be installing a lot of apps on it and since the version I see everywhere is the 16GB version I am not sure that would be sufficient for her. The only tablet with 32 GB version is the 12.2 inches version. Can you advise PLEASE!!!!!!.
StGadgets If you live in the U.S. and near a Best Buy store, you can buy their exclusive 32GB Tab S 8.4 version for about $50 more than the 16GB version.

TheDigitalDigest how good is the battery? I own one (WiFi 16gb) and I'm getting around 3 hours on screen time and about 14 h stand by time. I think this is really bad. My oneplus one is better and it's not conected through wifi.

myNEONCITY I'm not doing anything special, browsing the web, play angry birds epic (max 30 min) and in about 3 hours of on screen time from 14 stand by the battery is dead. The brightness is about 20-30%. I tried in the weekend and in 4:21 min of one video playback the battery was dead from 100%. I don't know what to do. The tablet is still in warranty but I think Samsung won't do anything about my problem.

hey everyone , i bought this tablet like 4 days ago and i installed cpu temp app on it and have the cpu temp overlay ON
and i can see that sometimes depending on what im doing loading vids or huge amount of pics or installing
the temp hits 70~ or so and then it drops , i wanted to know if its normal or there is something wrong with my tablet
the back of tablet however does not get hot at all , it only gets a little warm nothing to even notice but the app is what's worrying me
if anyone can try it on his tablet or has info about how the temp should be share please can help me a lot thanks :)

Hi. I bought the 10.5 version of this tablet, and took it back after a day of use. There was so much lag in everything it did that was just unacceptable. I wonder if this is the same. I was really disappointed as I have an S5 and was expecting similar performance. I wanted to like it but couldn't. I love the display though, and I could go for this if it doesn't have that tremendous lag.
***** I had the 10.5 LTE version with the Qualcom chip, that might be the reason. I was really disappointed, but took it back and got a Sony Z3 Tablet Compact, which I'm very happy with. I'm sure the Samsung would have gotten better with Lollipop, but I wanted it to work out of the box because I didn't have insurance on it, so rooting it would have meant voiding the warranty and having to pay if anything goes wrong. I have an S5 also, that's rooted and has 5.0.2 from Fusion on it. It's insured so if anything should happen I'm covered. I love it and will probably not go back to TouchWiz, which is the starter of all problems.
The only way this tablet is worth anything close to it's price is a root job and a custom ROM. There is no other cure for touchwiz.
***** problem is there are lots of bloats built right into tabs s system, not even changing launchers could save you... Only way is to root and install a custom rom...

3GB of ram shouldn't have that much lag of course, also 8.4 inch screen is the perfect size

The only reason I'm keeping my tab s is because of the superb Super amoled display, best display for watching movies, sadly, its the only reason I find appealing in ths tablet. The software is just downright terrible. If u love a laggy and bugging tablet,, tab s is for you... Touchwiz is just terrible...

Daedronus stop giving out incorrect information. super amoled screens burn in but they do not wear out. it takes a very long time to wear out
what do you think the burn in is? just uneven wear....so they do wear out....and they also color shift because the blue wears out first. AMOLED is a dead end technology as far as consumers are concerned...and a GOD sent for corporations? Disposable 600$ items :)))

Yes, we'll love it if will appear on the market with 32 GB- internal memory ! With 16 GB its another junk ! Don't buy 16 GB version , - its wasting of money !
I wasn't that impressed by the screen. Of course it's good but amoled screens tend to over-saturate colors.That's why I prefer the screen of my actual phone (LCD display) than my previous Samsung phone with super amoled screen. Colors are more natural.
also in cinema mode, it produces natural colors better than the iphone 5s and nexus 5
The super AMOLED display looks really bad. That is why I never got a Samsung phone. The saturation totally ruined the whole device. I cannot even stand to use my tablet. The Samsung Galaxy tab pro 8.4 display is the best.
I have both and to tell you the truth, $360 for the Tab S is not worth it. The technical difference is not worth the extra $160 in Comparison to the Tab pro $199 value. (FYI: this was my lucky sale price of the brand new devices. I got Tab S from amazon prime, Tab pro from best buy)
-The Tab S is just a marketing scam. The processor is a lot slower (this is coming from an actual user of both devices. I am not a product reviewer).
-It takes a tad longer to open an app, a lot longer to download apps and watch videos on tab S.
-You cannot even Enjoy the display of videos and pictures because of the AMOLED display. Everything looks fake. It is like using windows 1998.
-The WiFi connection is really bad. It seizes At random.
-copy and paste does not work properly. Sometimes you copy a text, but it pastes an empty text.
- it takes longer to charge the battery
-the battery life does not last long at all.
If you really want to enjoy the fullness of a good tablet, just buy samsung galaxy tab pro 8.4. You will not regret it. That is the best tablet so far. The resolution is superb. And everything works great in comparison to any tablet out there.
Try eBay. You can get brand new ones on eBay

this device is terrible. Not only does the product crash all the time. the customer service is absolutely terrible. the tablet went from working 10 minutes on a full charge to 1 minute., after it crashes it will turn itself on and off repeatedly for several minutes. I had the battery replaced and it still happens. customer service will not replace the device and they can not fix it. Samsung will not stand by their product. and They will not stand by their warranty. If you know what is good for you Buy anything other then Samsung. I am very unsatisfied and Samsung does not care!! I will never buy another Samsung product, and I will tell everybody I can not to as well. DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG!!!

I have soo many questions because when it crashes. It isn't the battery. It's the program or software as they say.
