  • This full in-depth review video explains all the reasons why I chose the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 over the Apple iPad Air 2. This Video Review was shot with the Galaxy Note 4. Please note that the WiFi version comes with the Exynos 5 Octa 5420 processor whereas the LTE version comes with the Snapdragon 800 Processor.
    As for the GPU, the Mali-T628 MP6 GPU is found in the Galaxy Tab S WiFI version and the Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU is found in the LTE version. The rest of the specs are exactly the same.

    Thanks for the review. I am actually considering replacing my laptop with a tablet, so the 10.5" seems very reasonable. Now, since tablets don't have large storage, can I store on a external portable disc drive? Also, does that version of MS Word compatible with documents created with any desk top? Also, how this compare to Samsung Tab A 9.7"?
    Thanks for the feedback

    Great review, man. I had a Google Nexus 7 2013 and had been looking to upgrade to a 10 inch tablet. Saw this beauty at Best Buy, and I was blown away by the sheer beauty and resolution of its screen. It has everything you could ever want in a tablet. Also picked up a bluetooth keyboard for it, and a 64GB memory card. You're right about the multi-app feature being useful. As a college student, I can write papers and look up info at the same time. Awesome.

    Hey mate, I'm looking at buying a tablet for university. Right now im tossing up between this and the Ipad air 1, what would you suggest? Any comments on battery usage vs the ipad ? I have a note 3 currently, over time it gradually got a little slower with the os and it seems like the battery doesn't last as long as it used to. Also a problem I've noted with samsungs is that it drains battery even when left idle. Is it the same case for these tablets?

    Great review. Question; can Samsung's "ms word" substitute (Hancock, i think you called it) be used interchangeably with genuine ms word on your PC. In other words, could I start a document on either the PC or Tab S, save it, then continue writing/editing the same document on the other device at a later time?

    problem encountered since tablet updated to lollipop is it now no longer recognize 90 % of all the former USB and SD cards which use to use with the 10.5 samsung tablet after it upgraded from kitkat to the new lollipop, is there a work around or patch or a fix for this ? on kitkat all SD cards and USB's worked fine, but as soon as it updated to lollipop 90 % of all USB and SD cards are now not recognized, it is as though they were not even connected to the tablet, nothing is wrong with any of the SD / USB as they all still work on other devices as before, no viruses are on them as they are brand new from the shop many of them which were used on the tablet prior to the lollipop upgrade.
    have you come up with this problem before and is there a fix for this problem with lollipop ?

    I would like to point out that some LTE Tab S 10.5 models have an Exynos 5420 under the bonnet. The Australian market SM-T805Y sold by Telstra has an Exynos processor as well as LTE connectivity. I ran CPU-Z on an Aussie Tab S (Telstra LTE version) and it said Exynos. On the back of the box, it says "1.9GHz Quad Core + 1.3GHz Quad core processor"

    I have the octa-core model which is great for multitasking. the snapdragon on the lte version has better outright oomph for single applications. I still have my old tab 3 10.1 which I still use but is rather archaic compared to the tab s, they are world's apart in terms of performance and visuals. the super-amoled display is just gorgeous. I remember watching the Samsung video on the device as shown here and that along with the device's blistering speed won me over.

    is this tablet still worth buying for the price ? Looking to switch from the ipad mini for something with a much bigger screen size for steaming. Did see that there a the new tab S2 but that screen is only 9.7 inches. My main concern is firmware support. The 10.5 Tab S is currently running lolipop but how long will support continue ? If support is no longer. supported then certain apps will no longer function properly. Guess my question is should I buy the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 or the smaller Galaxy Tab S2 ?

      @WYSbyAdamLash  Před 9 lety

      Hey Krimont. I've tried using a pencil on the tab s and it surprisingly works with touch sensitivity enabled, but it's extremely limited and very frustrating. I've tried using the Galaxy Note's stylus on the tab S and it doesn't work at all. I don't recommend using a pencil.

      @WYSbyAdamLash  Před 9 lety +1

      If you are interested in using the Tab S as a notebook for school / work, you can purchase a Capacitive Stylus from along with this free app called Fiinote. According to one galaxy tab s user comment I found on the web, it works very well but you need to figure out the palm rejection problem (e.g. being able to rest your hand on the surface while writing). However, if you write in the same way with white board markers by holding the stylus and not letting your Palm touch the screen, then I think it's fine.

    good morning / afternoon, i have 2 problems which have come up with using this tablet, i was wondering if you or someone would be able to assist me in this,
    on the home screen the top left image which has the time in it, that icon or picture, whatever you call it is now gone, at the 6:27 of this video you see it has the time and the picture of the green grass and blue skys and trees etc
    how do i get that image thing wit the time back on the home screen ?
    also the other problem is when i went to open a word / excel it gives you a choice of 2 or 3 alternative programs which to open that file, and you got the choice, once - always
    i accidentally touched "always" when i was meaning to go to "once"
    i went to touch it with pointer finger and other finger accidentally touched "always"
    is there a way to reverse this ? because also now since doing that i have nbot been able to alter the size of the thing that it opens up in, which means the other window is too thin to see and switching between other files etc doesnt switch like it use to, i wonder if there is a way to reverse the "always" selection

      SideSync operates on Samsung Galaxy devices (Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and cameras) updated to Android KitKat 4.4 or higher.

    I also wanted the Dell Venue 8 7000 but I wanted the bigger screen and the samsung features.
    I also wanted to wait until samsungs next tablet. Maybe the Note 10.1 2015 edition but I dont want to wait since nothing was announced at CES.

    What about the sound. Does it come towards you or go to the side like the iPad Air does.

    On a Samsung tab 3 right now. Getting a little slow and laggy as it only has 1gb of RAM and a slow processer. Moving to Tab S soon can't wait!!

    Dear all, I just bought a samsung galaxy tab S 10.5 today. I opened google chrome and watch a video. I felt that the area near and at the back of the samsung logo is hot. May I know is this normal or there is something wrong with this tablet? I watched the same video using Ipad 2 and Ipad 2 has no heating issue at all. Can someone enlighten me on what should I do?

    If you're considering this, then I'd revommend you upgrade to the Note pro 12.1.
    I use it as a tutor and teacher and the bundled Hanom office suite is excellent and I can do most everything I need to do and their compatible with MS Office.
    The only feature it lacks is the ability to have more than 1 file per application open at the same to copy paste between files.
    If you can't go with a Surface Pro 3, then the extra screen area of the 12.1 makes all the difference over the 10.1
    I wish Samsung continued developing ghe 12.1 because it could be a perfect work tablet

    I got an Air 2 over this. I don't even know why, my previous iPad was not great and this one isn't either. I loved my Samsung phones! (Have an S6 now) so will be looking into a new Tab within the next year.

      I love android but nexus devices seem to degrade too quickly, but you do get the tegra K1 chip in the nexus 9 and dual front facing speakers, besides that there's not much else

    Can a USB hub be plugged in to solve this problem? Has anyone tried? Wondering if it would allow charging device and connecting an HDMI-USB adapter? Also, not all HDTVs work with HDMI output from phones and tablets. Does this work with Tab S 10.5?
    Steve Luong wrote: "I love Samsung devices, especially their screens. But sadly it is terrible when coming to out put ports, only 1 micro usb port?!? That's stopped me from connecting my devices to a big screen TV to play movie/game while charging at the same time. Also can't connect to an external HDD if needed, such a shame."
