Florida East Coast Railway Downtown Job Works Trujillo & Sons

- With the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) Unit Train (335) having a Snoot SD40-2 and "beach towel" GP40-2 for power, I was sold on checking out the Hialeah industrial scene. Add to that the impressive weather, which is the calm before Tropical Storm Isaias made its skirt on the Florida coastline.
With the Downtown Job (DTN) already in mind, it didn't cross my mind that I'd be able to film the entire switching operation at Trujillo & Sons, which usually happens in the dead of night. The train was delayed making its entire run in daylight. And the power for this job couldn't have been better!
Add some bonus action, including an extra northbound. We also get the Medley Job on the Medley Lead. With these bonus shots, this video continues to tell some of the story of the FEC's current manifest/"carload" presence.
Per some requests, I left much of the switching footage intact to allow you all to take in the awesome sights and sounds of modern freight car switching. I hope you all enjoy!

Awesome footage indeed, thanks for posting! Enjoy watching urban and industrial switching. It's like Lance Mindheim's layout brought to life!
Thank you! I enjoy watching these moves too.

Great video 😀👍👍
Thanks!
Interesting paint jobs FEC has on its locos
Very nice Tolga
Really like the switching video not many people bother when it is most interesting
Agreed. I am also a fan of it.
Thanks, Robert. I agree the switching action is super fun to watch.
Could someone explain to me what they find so fascinating about a train switching cars etc.? I get the excitement of watching a 2 mile train in beast mode traveling 70 miles per hour horn blaring a warning to stay back or get smashed to smithereens. But fascination with a lumbering repetitive snail speed switching I don't get.
@@exoressdelivers70 The throttle notch never stays the same. Cars get pushed, shoved, tossed aside, and kicked. Lots of horn. Most importantly in this case the scenery. Quite a few reasons.
EXCELLENT VIDEO AND NARRATION by THE TURK™ This takes me back to the days when you devoted a lot of time to railfanning the Miami area! THANKS BRICK!!
Thank you GATOR!

Super nice job on the voice over !
Thank you!
Nice catch I didn't know that they had an extra on board?
Stumbled across this when I was mooching about looking at FEC operations, as someone on the Facebook group I'm in models FEC. I'm in the UK but have been able to visit Florida a few times since 1990. Mainly around Orlando but was also able to catch the West coast shortline, what was it, with GP9s.............the Seminole Gulf. I was able to explore a locomotive stabled there, unlocked, doors open, and take photos. Can I ask what equipment you use to make your videos - do you use GoPros? Really enjoyed all the switching, is it generally safe to be filming on your own in these locations? Those final four cars in your video, the tanks, what were they again? Sorry for all the questions, it just piqued my curiosity!
Thanks! I think the 4 tanks you are asking about haul carbon dioxide. I use a canon vixia and an iphone 11 to do supplementary shots.
Really nice video. Always enjoy the great narration. Too bad someone can't take the initiative to clean up all the garbage on and around the tracks.
I didn't know that the NS Terminal used to be a TOFC Terminal! Where did you hear that? I'm very curious about that.
Yep, I've had several FEC employees tell me that plus see it on Historic Aerials.
I’m designing a switching layout in N Scale based on Trujillo’s operations. What type of tank car and hopper would I need? I’m ok for box cars.
Hey tolga did they cleaned up all the debris at the W 1ST AVE crossing?
No. I actually took my photo from atop a derelict mattress lmao. 10" elevation is 10" elevation.
@@TolgaEastCoast I also noticed that they added E-Bells to this crossing as well. Last time i been there it had the mechanical bells
0:12 is that a metro rail Hitachi Rail Car
Probably yes
Why is it called 'downtown' job works when this location is miles away from downtown Miami?
Historically this job would work whatever business was left on the current Port Lead but those customers faded away one by one leaving the CIS on its own.
