CSX Downtown Spur and Brightline in 2021!

- In an outing originally intended to see the Brightline BLF500 Test Train, the show gets stolen by CSX train Y322 on the Downtown Spur!
The train was delayed a bit by the dispatcher due to Tri-Rail traffic in morning rush hour. This enabled a mostly daylight run and some good eastbound runbys. We caught up with it at Family & Son and picked it up from there in the cloudy morning. Brightline on the FEC Port Lead by some cool scenes and a quick catch of CSX train O722 ensues.

The rail fanning is the only thing about Miami that I miss. Great video.
Thanks! It's not like a lot of places, but has its own style.
Thanks for sharing Tolga.
Hey Tolga, I love the videos. You keep improving them and the narration. Maybe someday you will be the Danny Harmon of S. Fl. Back in the turn of the century when I worked the midnight shift, they used to run nightly. I used to catch them on the run around on the east end and loved the 27th avenue and N. River Dr. crossings. They used to flag those crossings on Friday nights/Saturday mornings because all the drunk drivers. It looks like CBI and the scrappers are keeping that spur alive. At one time, the "garlic district" used to receive several boxcars. In time, those industrial areas will relocate north and west. Hope rail does too.
Thanks Joe this is flattering praise! Yeah the handful that are left seem to have their keep so fortunately the spur will be around. I too hope there is new business as development continues out west.
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed this.
Thank you!
So cool , u can see all the old sidings
Great catches and great videos. Keep them coming. 16 degrees here in friggin cincinnati, ohio today. Can't wait till I can move to Florida.
Thanks! Brr... that's cold. That day was light sweater weather early on though!
Great work Tolga. Thanks
Thank you!
Love that Downtown Spur stuff. Thanks for sharing. A high of 1 degree today in NE Wisconsin. Our Chihuahuas are not amused.
Thanks! Wow that's insanely cold, I wish you and your Chihuahuas could find warmer weather!
Just started following not too long ago. Great video and content. Love the history you added along the way. Thanks!
Thank you!
Another great video
Thanks Brent!
Great video this downtown miami CSX railroad line may need some work some new rails and ties and remove all the brush and debris so the train don't derail carrying these cars
Neat bit with the old Seaboard platform there!
Yep! Thanks!
Great job, Tolga! Very informational, and I love that you integrated the HO scale layout too! Question: I think I might be heading down to Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano, and Pt. Everglades for my birthday weekend. (Feb. 27) Is that the best place to catch the most FEC traffic in the daytime?
Thanks! Anywhere between Croissant Park and the brightline station are great mainline spots, and in Pompano you can watch 960 do its thing
@@TolgaEastCoast Thanks man! Looks like we might be down there from a Friday to a Saturday, are those good times? Also, when can we expect to see 960 in Pompano? Will Brightline be coming back soon?
960 works anytime between 8:00 and about 1:00 in the morning/afternoon on most weekdays. Sundays are extremely quiet on the FEC.
@@HueyRailfanning Wow, thanks man! What do you think about a Friday to Saturday? Maybe some good traffic? Should I stay near signals or a drawbridge to know when a train is coming?
That is crazy, the tracks look abandoned.
Used to watch the Silver Meteor leave New York with 2 GG1s and 20 cars back when I was in high school before Amtrak
always wondered what the last stop in Miami looked like
A classic stucco depot and e units
Wow!
Very nice tolga
Thanks bro!
Well done!
Thank you!

Thanks!
Thanks.
Thank you!
Excelente!
Thank you for enlightening this Ohioan as to the rail activity and municipal facts there in Florida.
Anytime. Glad to share history in the making.
Nice one Turk
Thanks laz
Nice video
Thanks man!
Thanks for the great videos. Have you ever considered filming ops in the Port of Palm Beach?
Thank you. PoPB is some 70 miles away and a pretty sensitive operation so I'd have to enjoy the railroad carefully if I end up that way.
Hello Bill.
Most of the operations in the Port of Palm Beach are behind closed gates. I had an incredible luck back in 2012 to be able to visit the port and make two cab rides along the then newly arrived GP38-2 #1274. I have lots of pictures and some videos fragments. Let me know if you want to know more about it.
@@drivetorise4223 I would be interested. After reading Lance's book I've become intrigued by the Port. I'm considering modeling it.
@@billszydlo1166 In 2012, Lance published my story on his blog (I know, he changed it and didn't find it anymore in the archives). I will try to edit some video and maybe ask Tolga to share it as his channel is up and running and mine not at all :)
@@drivetorise4223 That's very nice of you. Please don't go to too much trouble or feel it's urgent. I'm in no hurry.
This might sound stupid but why doesn’t FEC have this work?
Hey tolga how often does the downtown csx job usually run ? Like every two days a week.
I am going to buy the Miami route for Train Sim because of you Tolga! I love the horn on 2656. Anyone know what kind it is?
Thanks! I hope Dovetail sends me a little gift for the referral xD.
It should be a K5LA
@Dan C. what do you mean when you say "raised letter"? I appreciate the reply from both of you.
@Dan C. so you want lower pitch for faster intermodal trains etc.
The colors on the brightline train didn't seem right. If you look at the upper edges of the cars, the colors seemed to be wrinkled. Are those decals? They need to check that out. Otherwise they may be leaving their colors wherever they go.
Good video.
Thanks
Bob
Interesting. There is some wrapping on those cars so you might be right on that

Thanks!
Great work you are doing. The passenger station for the railroad is still standing or more accurately the front entrance and facade is. It has been preserved as an historic Monument. Type in the address NW 7 Ave & 22 St google map street view. Pan to the northwest corner. You will see a Romanesque building facade just standing by itself with no building attached. That my friend is the preserved Seaboard passenger station entrance. And as a kid I took one of the last trains from there to North Carolina with my parents. ☺. Go to 'rrpicturearchives.net' to see the complete building in its heyday.
Thanks! That probably is the mistake I made in not showing the front facade. But you're completely right on that.
Can you do a coral way train
Sure, hopefully they start running in daylight that way again.
I think they switched to nights because of ongoing track work.

I'm going to an O scale train display on Saturday would you like me to get some footage for you I can give you the raw footage and you can do whatever you want for it there will be no glass because me and a group are replacing it so it will be very clean footage I can get nice and close
Lots of trash laying around. Don't the locals care to clean up a bit?
Awesome video
Thanks!
