    Just had a thought....Could you imagine how long it would take to travel on ALL the different Train Services in London....including all Tube lines as separate operators?

    • @JBFlytography
      @JBFlytography Před rokem +19

      I done that just before Covid. Travelled on all the Tube lines, all the Overground lines, the trams, the Airline, the DLR, all TOCS excluding LNER, VT & EMT and the Thames clippers.
      Took me just over 18 hours 😅 starting with SWT in the West at around 530am😂 was better then - more selection of rolling stock!

    Another brilliant video and well narrated. I was in Man Vic that morning and noticed the stranded trams as I travelled in from Leeds. It must have been a sudden cut in power and the passengers they must have had to walk safely back to Victoria with heavy rail trains running by must have been interesting. I’m guessing you were there in the afternoon and they still hadn’t powered it up!!

    In the absence of direct trains from Manchester Piccadilly or Victoria to Holyhead on SailRail, having a direct train from Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime St to catch the ferry or ship to Dublin as a foot passenger is the next best thing - I wish that Irish Ferries and Stena Line would consider this and even if they had the Dublin Swift Fast Ferry from Liverpool old port (not Birkenhead) to Dublin for foot passengers only, even the Ulysses or the Stena Adventurer, this would make for a very relaxing 8 hours crossing from Liverpool to Dublin

Liverpool south parkway station is built on the site of former south Liverpool Football club which was the first ground in the country to host a floodlit match. 2. Widnes station is where Paul Simon sat and wrote 'Homeward bound' (simon & Garfunkel). 3. the Golden Gates in Warrington were initially intended for Buckingham Palace.

    There’s also another way that trains could get from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Piccadilly. It’s kinda long. Services would go via the WCML from Liverpool Lime Street via Edge Hill, Mossley Hill, West Allerton, Liverpool South Parkway, Runcorn, Acton Bridge, Greenbank, Northwich, Lostock Gralam, Plumley, Knutsford, Mobberley, Ashley, Hale, Altrincham, Navigation Road, Stockport and Levenshulme. There’s a connecting track between the West Coast Main Line and the Mid-Cheshire Line in Hartford, between Acton Bridge on the West Coast Main Line’s Liverpool Branch and Greenbank on the Mid-Cheshire Line. It’s definitely the long way around though.

    Travelling from Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Lime St, there is a station that is the nearest to Liverpool Airport but no trains to or from Manchester stop there, which is a bit odd - personally, when getting the ferry/ship to Ireland from Manchester, I’d sooner go from Liverpool old port in the City Centre on SailRail rather than Birkenhead and rather than Holyhead despite the (more relaxing) 8 hour ship crossing to Dublin - the ship companies and perhaps some coach operators definitely have a gap in the market here, especially if the Irish government bans air travel between Ireland and the U.K. - being Irish myself and having family still living in Ireland, living 22 years in Manchester, I’d love to see the historic shipping links between Liverpool and Dublin reopened

    • @JasonCliftJones
      @JasonCliftJones Před rokem

      Probably not permissible; only way I can think to squeeze it in would be to go from Warrington Bank Quay (which is the WCML) down to Crewe, TfW service to Wilmslow then prob Northern (again) to the Airport (a limited service through Styal) and TPE from there into Piccadilly/Victoria.
      Avanti services to Manchester either branch off at Crewe up the Wilmslow line or have already gone via Stoke further south then Macclesfield. Liverpool ones also branch north of Crewe through Runcorn to Lime Street (not sure if they stop between Lime St and Crewe off hand, never used that route)
      Going north to Wigan would take the TfW option out. The service Nick uses here is the Manchester to Chester one, whilst the one through Crewe is the Swansea to Manchester route.

    I've had a think about it, and here's another way that it could (potentially) be done, You could get Merseyrail to Liverpool South Parkway, TFW to Runcorn, Avanti West Coast to Crewe, Then, if you do it on a weekend with Engineering works, You could get CrossCountry to Macclesfield, Northern to Stockport, and TPE to Manchester Piccadilly, Also totalling 6 TOCs. I think 6 TOCs is the limit to this challenge, unless you used a specific day ranger that gives you the freedom to travel thirther out to use more.
    Oh yeah, also, Trust me, Liverpool South Parkway is almost ALWAYS that quiet - It's only ever busy when there's a lot of footfall heading towards the airport, but most just take the bus.

    what was that then, just 4 hours? convenient! what isn't convenient is that trains don't run straight through to Manchester from Halewood any more, that was like one of the few perks of living out in the sticks is that there was an hourly train to Manchester
